Um, not really. Breast augmentation, not saying it was used for any of these actresses, goes back to the 50’s, and widely used in the 60’s. It was pretty crude, and quite dangerous when liquid silicone was simply injected. I think more importantly the actresses highlighted here had a lot of varied talents and screen presence. I think that is the more importance difference between them and more recent curvaceous actresses whose figures are their primary calling card.
Poor Carol Landis. She may have been a sleep around girl before she made it but by so many accounts she was a sweetheart. That creep actor who broke her heart used her and drove her to take her life. So sad. Many people in show biz had sympathy for her and disdain for Rex Harrison.
The only women in this video who could be said to have a large bust are Anita Ekberg and Jayne Mansfield, but as they always kept them hidden we will never know for sure.
I look at Carol Landis, and I don't see the size as being any more than a normal natural woman. I guess my old eyes have been jaded by the DDD crowd, and implants. Seems also old fashioned to name a breast size by the "37" alone, as that tells only half the story. I would say something about the fascination with big boobs being strange, but I clicked on the video so........
Carol Landis' career and personal life suffered after she contracted malaria and dysentery in Africa while entertaining the troops with the USO. I always considered her to be a casualty of the war.
@@idx1941 true but wish the video would've stated that so those that don't know the difference between today and then would have a better understanding
I don't think Cassandra Peterson, Elvira, had a 38" bust. In a television interview, she politely showed the tricks she used to give the appearance of a large chest. This involved packing with toilet paper etcetera, shading with make-up, and an accommodating bra, and dress. As well, I think Jayne Mansfield was actually much larger that 40". I read of her having 50". But looking at her she appears larger than 40".
Ah yes, bust size of chest vs cup size as the arguments go. Back then particularly 1950's it was all about showing off how big. I've noticed many of today's actresses are quite busty but the bras and fashions they wear squelch their frontal appearance. Jayne Mansfield was very good at showing off the classic 1950's bra and girdle look but that became very dated in 1960's. Busty Sophia Loren used her acting talents to get critically acclaimed leading roles, her Oscar winning performance of "Two Women" quite a departure from usual glamour roles. Of course she also married a top producer who had connections to great writers and directors. Really sad about Carol Landis, an example of how the entertainment industry can be very brutal and for those that endure have to be tough. Mae West was smart enough to invest into real estate and took advantage of the California real estate boom. Kim Novak got out of the business before getting "ruined." However, I think she was tough enough to survive the acting business like Eva Marie Saint.
you kinda left out brigitte bardot and joy harmon. i don't know their measurements but they were definately sex symbols. all those voluptuous european bombshells of the late 50s and 60s, like bardot, gina lollobrigida, sophia loren and anita ekberg were very difficult to match. joy harmon and raquel welch were about the only american actresses that could compete in that category. thanks for the mammaries.
Nothing unusual here. What IS bust size anyway? It's what a person measures around the chest. In that sense a flat-chested body builder woman may have a 'bustier' chest than a girl with big boobs but un-athletic body. (I'll take the athletic one : )
If everything is "iconic".... nothing is iconic. If everybody is "legendary".... nobody is legendary...... It's just the movies, kids. They're fortunate to get immortalized on celluloid. That's all, folks ---- Actresses and actors are usually just as screwed up as you are, if not more, so why is everyone surprised that they get in trouble in "real life"...Gimme a break. already. 😆😆😆
Thanks for this fun documentary (using the term loosely) but Kim Novak was not big-breasted, she was all face and tush, kids.....Also you don't mention CUP SIZE, which, as long as we are being blunt here, is way more important than the tape measure all around. ...I'm still trying to figure out if "DD" is the same as ' F'...... I've heard there is an 'H" ---but I'm kinda scared of that.....😁😁😁

What BS, the inches means shit, it's the cup size that gives the true measure of a bust. A 37B is smaller than a 37C!!!

Raquel Welch was the most beautiful woman to ever grace earth. And that is my final answer!
I don’t care who your favorite hottie is, if you put her in the same room with Raquel Welch, you’d forget she was even there.
Raquel Welch ... then known as Jo Raquel Welch ... was a cocktail waitress in the lounge of the Cabana Hotel in Dallas before reaching stardom.
Topper Returns..wow.
This video didn't even know what bust size is. The numbers are the inches around. The letter is the cup and reflects the size of the breast. Duh
Back in those days they did not mention the cup sizes of actresses, they just used circumference...so an 37" bust, or 40" bust.
