Been waiting for you to do one on Foxy Brown. She's the most controversial female rapper. All the rumors. Her attitude. Plus she broke barriers being dark skinned and 'marketable'/commercially successful. I remember all the rumor mill in the 90s about her being mixed (Filipino and Black) because people really couldn't stomach a dark skinned woman being attractive. She also said Def Jam used to lighten her photos I believe.
I love her one and only Jazz album. Not everyone knows about her singing voice.

I was watching an interview with Phyllis Yvonne Stickney where she explains how New Jack City changed movies forever because it became soundtrack rather than actor driven. This opened up doors for rappers and shut out many classically trained actors. But I am sure Latifah would have made her way through anyways. We Jersey Girls persevere, lol
