Looking good !!I just found your channel and watched all the videos since you moved the boat to your shop. I’m currently building a Spira Chalmette and hope to have it finished before Christmas. Great tip on the caulking tubes. It would be a lot easier running filets with that instead of a baggie.
Thank you. Isn’t the Chalmette the small solo skiff type design? I was wanting those plans before Mr. Spira passed away. If you get some good pictures or video of your boat, you can send them to me and I will include them in a video of you like. I like that design.
I absolutely am. I’m going to cut a hatch in the top, put a compartment inside and fill the rest of it with foam. The forward deck will be foam filled as well.
Something broke inside and I’m going to break it down to see if I can fix it. The replacement arrived today but I’m not ready to throw the old dog out just yet.
Im like I can't wait to see this finished, but then again Im like no I don't cos it will be over. It just keeps looking nicer and nicer and you can see the boat its going to become slowly emerging - and other great video. (Can I be cheeky and ask your name as Im the kinda old fat guy that likes to speak to somebody and use their name)
Hey Scott, I’m Jim and I’m glad for you to know it. Don’t worry my man, after this build we will be starting on the 22 foot version with different construction methods.
TECH TIP for builders using wood and epoxy. When glueing or laminating wood with epoxy resin, always wet out, soak the wood with thinned epoxy FIRST. While still wet, then add the filet compound or laminate. WET ON WET.....never, ever, effing ever, laminate over dry wood. you just FAILED, miserably.
Tips for comments- don’t be a jerk unnecessarily. This particular epoxy I’m using is cut with solvents from the factory. It has the effect of handling both jobs at one time, penetrating and layup. Just make sure to use enough so your lamination isn’t too dry. My laminations won’t fail and there’s always more than one way to do a job. Good luck, have a great day.

Just the capping has transformed the look of the boat well done. Really nice job.
Thanks, I was really taken aback when I looked at it. The strength is much improved as well.
NICE!!! Making progress. I cant wait to see it in the water!!!
Thank you Sean, and it won’t be long now!

Loving these videos! Keep em coming.
How about that, I’ve been following your project as well. I love that old wooden boat you are working on and your video style. Thank you.
That's great to hear! I will have more videos soon enough. Thanks for following the project.
I don’t understand anything you are saying 😂 but you’re doing an amazing job. I miss you bud!
Miss you too lady. Come check out the shop soon!
Thought you were gonna put foam in the nose cap.

In an earlier video I think I heard you mention the next build being a 22' panga. Is it Spira's Tiburon by chance?
It is not, I have another design.
Lube the jig saw

That train wheel sounded like a multitool when cutting wood, ouch my ears haha
It was terrible haha

@@FatGuyinaLittleBoat Thanks Jim, I knew there would be more to come but this is great news - take it easy, stay hydrated 🍻
Is it “fill-its” or is it “fillets”?
Fillets. And I don’t know why.
Need to replace that jigsaw with a nice RYOBI one 😂
It just arrived yesterday!
Dang girl ain’t nothing wrong with that
😂😂😂
You painted the inside of the boat while we weren’t looking.
My buddy Mark did. He is a professional painter and by the time I turned around he was finished already haha. Dude is quick.
The jig is up…
Hahaha yes!
That fking wheel needs some oil swkoze in it!!😂😂
Hahaha yes it does! Sounds like a lot of it too.
