    Great video. And this is why I only use Magnus Blackhornet Ser Razors for the past several years.

    I wish I could say I gave up on Mechanical heads sooner than I actually did . Never again…..

      What a shame, I have taken dozens of deer with expandables and have never had an issue. Everyone shoots differently though so I completely understand why you gave up on them so fast.

      The thing no one tells you in archery light fast arrows need fixed heads, heavy slow arrows can use mechanical heads.

    ive had the same problem with blades breaking on ribs. Even seen blades break on a gut hit. Go cut on contact fixed with good steel.

    Not a bow hunter, but was amazed that first shot went though some pretty thick bone.

    I lost several deer and switched away from mechanicals, learned how to bare shaft tune my arrows and shoot the Kudu Contour now. If I was you I would put the rest of those mechanical heads in the recycling bin and switch to a head that can do the work.

    I've seen test on elk leg bones with the tooth of the arrow, solid head and it lost a blade, and that's from a solid piece of machined steel! The take away? No head will survive this test unscathed, if you hit big bone with a broad head some bad things are gonna happen.

    Why I shoot the qad exodus, no broken blades and no bent ferrells.

    I'd be surprised to even most replaceable blade fixed blades hold up to that thick of bone.

    And if you throw in skin and tissue starting the opening process a fraction of a second earlier it's possible none of the blades would have survived..

    • @HuntingCreatures
      @HuntingCreatures 2 роки тому

      Totally agree. All those "test videos" lack of skin, flesh and soft tissue before it even get to bones or vital organs.

    If you HAVE to shoot a mechanical, shoot the SEVR.

    As far as fixed blades go, I won't use anything else except for the QAD Exodus...

    If i lost a blade shooting an animal i wouldn't use that broadhead again. I agree the exodus is a good choice.

    When i originally tried mechanical head i had a horrible experience with them. They were the 3 blafe rockets. I went back to rocky mountain titaniums and had your average outcomes. Then in 2008 i tried rage broadheads and have never looked back. I shoot xforce series pse bows 28 inch draw at 73 pounds. Since 08 ive killed somwhere around 40 deer and have an average recovery trail of 60yds with my longest right around a 100. But thats only on whitetail deer. No matter what heads you shoot theres no replacement for a well tuned setup and hours of practice. Ive bowhunted and shot archery for close to 35 years now and ive seen almost every head you can think of fail. Shoot what your confident with period . That bein said shootingwhat your confiden in doesnt mean shooting what a commercial tells you will work or which head has the coolest packaging. Dont by into thehype buy into your experience s in the field and you can never go wrong

    Of course you have a better chance of not hitting a bone but if you do I do not trust Rage at all. Heard way to many horror stories from way to many people. There are definitely better options if you are going mechanical.

    Lets all set our bows up to shoot at the shoulder blade. How about shooting animal where you should and stop blaming your gear. Why do bow hunters have such an issue with admitting they made a bad shot. They blame their bows for being out of tune when in reality they have poor shooting form. Admitting to yourself Its the indian and not the arrow and you will have half the battle won...
