Nothing in the world interests me more than the 20,000 leagues under the sea serpent - which to be fair is somewhat of an exaggeration - but that thing seriously sends shivers down my spine. From the decaying sets to the filthy water surrounding the animatronics, it's just pure "chef's kiss" for me. The photos of the abandoned serpent creeps me especially out, and it honestly reminds me of a crime scene. I've always dreamt of seeing it up close and personal... what a shame they can't be refurbished.
The sea serpent is gone now. There’s a blog from someone who used to work on the ride. Apparently the ride got shut down because the workers hated the upkeep on it. When investors came to ride the rides and see what goes, they purposely gave the investors the one submarine that was literally sinking. They actually didn’t use it for guests- but it was part of many problems with the ageing ride. When the investors got on, they purposely did the WORST version they could, but acting like everything was fine, The water slowly rising was fine, and the barely working functions were fine. The investors never jumped off a ride so fast! It wasn’t long before it was shut down. But then they just LEFT everything there. In the water. For years. They put a King Triton statue in the pool where everything was rotting underneath. Eventually, they drained the pool, but then it left everything out in the open and somehow that was worse. Someone jumped in and took the pictures of the empty pool, everything in it. Finally, everything was removed and most likely destroyed. If you Google the ride, there’s a very very informative blog- with pictures - about the sea serpent and the squid. But if you watch footage of the ride in it’s heyday the serpent actually looks cute. Mermaids have it on a leash. I actually went on this ride when I was about 6 or 7 tops. I was literally afraid of EVERYTHING in Disney World, I was terrified yet curious about animatronics- but they mostly freaked me TF out. The sea serpent in this ride was the ONLY thing that didn’t freak me out. I thought he was cute and wanted to touch him. Luckily, I didn’t see the squid’s face, only the tentacles, otherwise I would’ve freaked at that, too.
Yeah man.... I Know How You Feel as an Submechanophobic like me..... I just terrorize myself only about thinking about submerged animatronics By The Way they remind me Five Nights At Freddy's characters ( Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, Freddy, Golden Freddy )
I think it has to do with the fact that some people (including me) have a fear of these certain things: the way the animatronics move or look in the water, being pulled into the water by the animatronics, the fear of the animatronics submerging from the water at any moment, and again, just the way animatronics look in water and underwater scares the living daylight outta me :) (I apologize if the grammar is incorrect)
1:04 I've heard people talk about this animatronic IRL. They said that the rabbit smelt so bad, that they felt the need to throw up, as if he's never been taken out of the water and washed.
What makes me wonder about 1:04 is since people have been saying it’s incredibly stinky, .. I’ve always been wondering if there were a human inside the suit.
I can confirm to you that there is no human in there suit its just a animatronic but seriously who tf would get in a suit and go into water? Thats waterboarding
The Phantasialand ride actually has THREE sharks in the JAW scene. You can see one circling the boat and the fisherman. Then the second shark jumpscares you before a third one jumps at you from the other side. All of them are old, rusty and you can hear the machines of them work in the background during on-ride videos.
I feel really intrigued by submerged animatronics. I think is something related to submechanophobia, they DON'T belong there and they always end up all destroyed and rotten, the water around them ends up extremely dirty too, the thought of falling onto that gross dark water with them it's just terrifying in every aspect and I love it. (Specially the Murray Bridge Bunyip and the 20,000 leagues under the sea animatronics)
When I was going to school in Japan 2years ago (was 18 years old,) I made a trip down to see the kappa animatronics. Only the one big kappa remains, while the 2 children are In a wagon outside of the gift shop.
I think what makes it so unnerving is that the animatronic is meant to look like a living creature, but it appears to be a different stages of decomposition after dying. It would be like a skeleton with its eyes and parts of it face still remaining, just looks wrong
When i was three i always used to go to the Cleveland Metroparks zoo and I used to be terrified of the animatronic crocodile named Woolly Bill in the Australian adventurer section in the yagga tree. The animatronic had a outside that was ripped and tore and it would emerge after thunder boomed. And looked around while chomping its jaw. This animatronic is in another submechanophobia video. Edit: the yagga tree sadly closed Edit 2: wait now its open and the crocodile isn’t as terrifying but its still kinda scary.
Imagine the protective grid breaks and you have to swim with the Animatronic. In that dirty water full of rust, oil and leptospirosis, HUMMMMM, I was scared shitless just thinking about it.
