Great video! I was there yesterday. I'm guessing a lot of these rides get moved around to other Six Flags parks to keep them new and fresh in peoples minds. Still loved Shockwave. Many didn't like it because it was a rough ride. That meant shorter lines and more rides for me!
Thank you for posting this! Brought back memories: my 1st time to SFGA I rode Tidal Wave & PowerDive first! I miss Shockwave & Rolling Thunder so much! Got to ride RT the last day it was in operation. Is a mystery to me why they took down SW; that's one of the best rides ever, even if it did knock your head around. I bet they disassembled DJV because it constantly broke down. They also took down Hay Baler & Triple Play (loved those). *sniffle*
Great video! I haven't been to Six Flags in quite some time, but all the time as a kid. This brought back some great memories, like when I was finally tall enough to ride the Tidal Wave. I cried when they took it down!
Something about the history of this park just makes me love it more and more. The park is like one big mystery. I kind of feel like they're using parts from the old rides on the newer ones.
wow this video brought back my childhood! I remember damn near all of these! The Edge was my first coaster and the Tidal Wave was my first loop! Funny how i still remember how those rides scared me as a kid until i finally road them. And God knows i loved Shockwave and Demon. Glad Demon is still there.
All rise for the former UA-cam National Anthem! ...lol Good video man, I've been enjoying this park since the very late 80's-90's. I remember when the Drop Zone first came out I still laugh at the commercial for it.
The Holding Break on almost all Inverted Impulse Costers are gone. on Possessed and both V2's, the Holding Breaks are Gone. But oddly enough, Steel Venom at ValleyFair still operates theirs
It was called the Delta Flyer. Which was the name of the sky bucket ride that was there earlier. They basically converted the loading area into a ride similar to the hay baylor. Very simplistic but it was a blast!!!
The first year I went to Mariott's, 1981 I think, the Yukon Yahoo was called the Industrial Revolution but then the next year the Industrial Revolution was a different ride. There was also the Hay Baler which was lots of fun. Also there was a roller coaster called the Z force which I didn't care for.
Was the "Edge" Ride shown on this video from the California Marriotts of Gurnee IL? I'd be willing to bet The California as it looked more Orange and the inside track or Shaft to the Top was Black. The Edge at Gurnee, was more of a Rust Red color Ride I believe. Thanks!
I worked at great America in the early 80's. forgot about the older rides shown here. the edge was removed after 3 teens were seriously injured after a failure with the breaking system.
Oh...I remember going with my brother and sister to Bugs Bunny National Park and playing in that one ball pit building. so much fun, and I really hated to see a sign there saying it was closed forever..
My childhood memories in the late 70's .... early 80's. Turn of the Century (before the 2 loops were added and it was renamed THE DEMON (At least that ride still exists at the park.) The Tidal Wave (renamed Greased Lightning before it was eventually moved to Vallejo, CA ) and THE EDGE! (R.I.P. You falling box from hell!) =)
I wasn't so disappointed when Rolling Thunder went...That was a bruiser...literally! Kind of liked Shockwave, the Tidal Wave, and both sky car rides...Only was on the Southern Cross once or twice, as it was a round-trip ride, and closed most of the time in windy weather because it was so high up...
I live in Milwaukee and was too young to ride Deja Vu. By the time I finally was tall enough, the ride was gone. Earlier in 2016 we took a trip out west and we happen to stop in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and so we drove up a few miles to Silverwood. I never rode Deja Vu, but as you can see on my channel, I got an offride POV of it.
I can't believe they took out Shockwave. I loved that ride so much! But Rolling Thunder... man i remember waiting 2 hours the year that bullshit came out. That right SUCKED. It was LOUD. Bumpy and rough as hell and short. I remember telling ppl to get out of line and not waste their time lol. I'm surprised Iron Wolf left. That was a good ride too. They should forever keep Demon.
Deja vu was very fun/unique. It had some design flaws though. The harnesses something clicked out of place and popped open about an inch during the ride (that happened to me and my mother)
That would be incorrect. The Goliath you refer to came from Six Flags Magic Mountain. Deja Vu in Gurnee went to Silverwood in Idaho where it lives on as Aftershock.
Shockwave is the one ride they had that I really truly miss. You might want to also add Ragin' Cajun to this list. They're getting rid of that ride after this season.
Yeah I miss deja vu...shockwave I never got to ride heard mixed reviews some people say it was rough but super fun because of the g force and others say it wasn’t worth keeping...iron wolf I rode once and it was decent but short. What did you think of Goliath if you rode that yet? They are also almost done with Maxx force. Should open July.
This is ridiculous! I had no idea, Six Flags is ruthless, that is way too many rides for less than 50 years (i think). They took away the Space Ship too! Even I rode that, I never go there! Bring back the waterfall and they holding on V2 please
I actually never knew that they took out the ball pit thing for a while cuz I started riding the roller coasters. I'm actually sad that they took out Bugs Bunny National Park, I was wondering where to find that place and yeah, that was my favorite thing there when I was little
Too young to remember most of these but my parents say that Power Dive was awesome. I'm glad they got rid of Iron Wolf, it was the worst coaster. Goliath was a great replacement for it.
The Tidal Wave was a ride that would still be enjoyed today. I think the Batman occupies its former footprint. The Iron Wolf though . . . not missed. It really beat the hell out of you and who wants to stand in line for hours for a roller coaster that makes you . . . stand!?
OMG! That's what it's called! Haha! I couldn't remember what the Splash Mountain was called cause that's the only ride I remember when I went in like, kindergarten
What's cool some of these rides still exist at either Park California's Great America still has some rides that Six Flags Great America doesn't Six Flags Great America has rides a lot of older Marriott rides that California's Great America doesn't I would love for someone to do a comparison video on both parks
Really? I had to thumb that down, 'cause while Shock Wave is certainly missed, I think you're going a liiitttlle too far right there. But everyone's entitled to an opinion, I guess. Thanks for the vid.
Mkay, I'll take these one at a time, in no particular order: Deja Vu: Maintenance nightmare. Splash Water Falls: Missed, but we have X-Flight there now. SSA: Meh. V2 holding brake: We should petition the park to fix it! That was the best part of the ride! Tidal wave & Shockwave: I really want to ride those now... :( The rest: No opinion.
when i wasn't tall enough to ride the "54" inch rides i would always look forward to riding them i always wanted to ride deja vu but then they took it down :( then i was looking forward to riding v2 i liked it but i was disappointed that the holding brake wasn't there i also cant belive they kept the whizzer over shockwave i wanted to ride it i rode all the rest of the 54 inch rides RIP iron wolf
Six Flags Great America had some ride, can't remember the name exactly but I heard it broke down alot. I haven't been there since 2005 and doubt it is there but it was like a coaster thing that went in a loop almost but the track turned and spun as the coaster went around. Anyone know the name of this ride or know what I am talking about?
No, thats wrong. There was NEVER an accident on a Shoot-the-Chutes model like this (low speed, height, intensity) and X-Flight wasnt announced for at least another 4 years.
You've got a new ride for the list: The Orbit will be removed for the 2017 season. Source: www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/lake-county-news-sun/opinion/ct-lns-moran-six-flags-great-america-lobster-st-1001-20160930-column.html
One of the workers at six flags told me that they broke v2s holding brake and it was so much money they only now use it for emergencys. He also told me that some idiot put bubbles in the demons water fall filter the bubbles overheated and broke the motor and bubbles spilled out all over the track demon was closed for the rest of the day. The motor was to much money to replace
Too many amazing coasters have been removed. Iron Wolf was way better than X-Flight. Now everything is about superhero's. The Dark Knight, Batman The Ride, Superman Ultimate Flight... it's getting old. Deja Vu will not be missed those coasters had way too many problems. I wish they would also focus more on "spinny" rides than just coasters. They better keep The Condor, Triple Play, The Orbit, Revolution, The Whizzer, The Demon, Viper, Great American Eagle, Raging Bull.
Unfortunately due to copyright. The owner has removed the song :(
SixFlagsGeek wat was the song send to my email Erikolsont@gmail.com
The song was clubbed to death.
Remember the hay bailer. I friggin loved that ride. RIP Shockwave. You were my fav roller coaster ever wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :(
Great video! I was there yesterday. I'm guessing a lot of these rides get moved around to other Six Flags parks to keep them new and fresh in peoples minds. Still loved Shockwave. Many didn't like it because it was a rough ride. That meant shorter lines and more rides for me!

Something about the history of this park just makes me love it more and more. The park is like one big mystery. I kind of feel like they're using parts from the old rides on the newer ones.
They have a ride graveyard during Frightfest. The gravestones have the names of every defunct ride.
wow this video brought back my childhood! I remember damn near all of these! The Edge was my first coaster and the Tidal Wave was my first loop! Funny how i still remember how those rides scared me as a kid until i finally road them. And God knows i loved Shockwave and Demon. Glad Demon is still there.
The edge wasn't a coaster.
🌀The Orbit. 1976-2016
Provided 40 years of upside down thrills, now its forever still.
All rise for the former UA-cam National Anthem! ...lol
Good video man, I've been enjoying this park since the very late 80's-90's. I remember when the Drop Zone first came out I still laugh at the commercial for it.
oh and the Power Dive! I loved that ride! And the Tidal wave was my first looping coster. :'( So many changes since I moved out of Chicago!
R.I.P Splash waterfalls and Traffique Jam, also The Ragin' Cajun and Great America Raceway.
I loved the that ragin cagin ride. I went on it once when I was little, and it was one of my favorites.
Ragin Cajun still lives on in six flags on gurnee, il I believe! The last time I was there it was there
Charles Westberry, It has been removed sadly.
R.I.P. Iron Wolf
The Holding Break on almost all Inverted Impulse Costers are gone. on Possessed and both V2's, the Holding Breaks are Gone. But oddly enough, Steel Venom at ValleyFair still operates theirs
Great video. Don't forget the Iron Wolf. The only standing coaster in the park
👑 King Chaos 2004-2017
Flipped many riders upside down, but after 13 years the king has lost his crown.
I was also reading that the Deja vu kept on stalling during test runs.
that shit never worked i only got on it once
Very nice seeing some old memories, as well as things I missed!
It was called the Delta Flyer. Which was the name of the sky bucket ride that was there earlier. They basically converted the loading area into a ride similar to the hay baylor. Very simplistic but it was a blast!!!
Since they weren't rides, you didn't mention the two animated shooting galleries...Northwest and Pirates' Alley. I absolutely loved those.
Wow, this is truly a great video! I've seen the pictures, but I never knew the ride names untill now.
Wrong park. This topic is about Great America in Illinois.
That deserves a thumbs up! Best ride to stand on six flags grounds ever.
Was the "Edge" Ride shown on this video from the California Marriotts of Gurnee IL? I'd be willing to bet The California as it looked more Orange and the inside track or Shaft to the Top was Black. The Edge at Gurnee, was more of a Rust Red color Ride I believe. Thanks!

Deja vu is now Goliath towers at Six flags New England. Great ride btw
My childhood memories in the late 70's .... early 80's. Turn of the Century (before the 2 loops were added and it was renamed THE DEMON (At least that ride still exists at the park.) Thanks for posting I'm really upset I never knew the old and true Great America :/
⚡️Shockwave 1988-2002
They said save the Whizzer,
and Shockwave became chopped liver.
Triple Play is still there. Love that one!
Deja vu still lives on! Its at Silverwood Themepark...
I live in Milwaukee and was too young to ride Deja Vu. By the time I finally was tall enough, the ride was gone. Earlier in 2016 we took a trip out west and we happen to stop in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and so we drove up a few miles to Silverwood. I never rode Deja Vu, but as you can see on my channel, I got an offride POV of it.
but McDonald's icecream machine works more than that ride
I'm so sad too that they brought them down. If they are remembered and brought joy, why not keep it instead of forgetting it.
I agree, I never got to experience any of the sky rails. Consider yourself luck! :)
i am going to miss this rides
Awww, No love for the Hay Bayler?? :( ;)
Loved the hay bayler!
Deja vu was gone the year before my first trip. It looked like so much fun!
Deja vu was very fun/unique. It had some design flaws though. The harnesses something clicked out of place and popped open about an inch during the ride (that happened to me and my mother)
🏎 Great American Raceway
1976-2010
X Flight marks the spot!
TigerRocks503 Aka: Chase Wassel 😭😭😭😭
You left out Z-Force. One of my favorite.
I absolutely love this statement. I cant agree more with you!
That would be incorrect. The Goliath you refer to came from Six Flags Magic Mountain. Deja Vu in Gurnee went to Silverwood in Idaho where it lives on as Aftershock.
OMGOMG shockwave
🌌Space Shuttle America 1994-2007
Never returned from Armstrong City...
This song makes me cry
🛷 Yukon Yahoo! 1976-1990
The bobsled that fled!
I KNEW IT, there was a holding break on the V²... shame they got rid of it, im sure that had a lot of mechanical issues.
It's in Six Flags America. It's called Apocalypse: The Last Stand or something like that.
Shockwave is the one ride they had that I really truly miss.
You might want to also add Ragin' Cajun to this list. They're getting rid of that ride after this season.
🛶Splashwater Falls 1987-2007
Gone but not forgotten...
Great memories. I hate the fact that they made Frightfest kid friendly now a days.
Shockwave, iron wolf, and deja vu were my favs. Now, its the Viper, the raging bull, and possibly the Goliath when it debuts next year.

Their a land locked park, to add stuff each year they have to take something out.
I actually never knew that they took out the ball pit thing for a while cuz I started riding the roller coasters. I'm actually sad that they took out Bugs Bunny National Park, I was wondering where to find that place and yeah, that was my favorite thing there when I was little
yeah I remember the giant ball Pit thing we have some photos
I remember the slides too.
I miss the hay bayler :(
Too young to remember most of these but my parents say that Power Dive was awesome. I'm glad they got rid of Iron Wolf, it was the worst coaster. Goliath was a great replacement for it.
Too bad Goliath breaks down all the time. :/
+Kirsten H true I went last year, it was broke down
+Walter how did it broke down????????????
Idk they said brake failure 😣 Ias pissed
One of the wheels fell off once, I believe on the Orange train. This was before the Season Passholder soft opening, luckily no one was hurt.
The Tidal Wave was a ride that would still be enjoyed today. I think the Batman occupies its former footprint. The Iron Wolf though . . . not missed. It really beat the hell out of you and who wants to stand in line for hours for a roller coaster that makes you . . . stand!?
Deja Vu is not in RIP status as it's running well (as Aftershock) at Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho.
There was a ride the Condor Replaced... I remember wanted to ride it all the time as a kid, any idea what that was?
Haybailer , sky whirl and rolling thunder :( miss the tidal wave and shockwave too!
OMG! That's what it's called! Haha! I couldn't remember what the Splash Mountain was called cause that's the only ride I remember when I went in like, kindergarten
🌾 Hay Baler 1977-2000
Bailed in 2000.
TigerRocks503 Aka: Chase Wassel I loved that ride
Why did they get rid of the holding break on V2? I loved that.
Probably wear and tear, also people lost items like crazy
People lost a lot of change and items on the Power Dive too.
Because it was one of the rides that had missing parts
What's cool some of these rides still exist at either Park California's Great America still has some rides that Six Flags Great America doesn't Six Flags Great America has rides a lot of older Marriott rides that California's Great America doesn't I would love for someone to do a comparison video on both parks
It lives on as Apocalypse at Six Flags America near Washington, D.C.
The Edge is missed. It wasn't there for very long!
I thought Iron Wolf was a very unique ride. Hate to see it go, but I did notice that there were very few people in the lines.
Also The Rajin Cajun is vastly under-rated probably the best coaster they have built since 2005.
Really? I had to thumb that down, 'cause while Shock Wave is certainly missed, I think you're going a liiitttlle too far right there.
But everyone's entitled to an opinion, I guess. Thanks for the vid.
Also when did this ride go? 0:38 I remember going on it but i'm not sure I'm 18.
Mkay, I'll take these one at a time, in no particular order:
Deja Vu: Maintenance nightmare.
Splash Water Falls: Missed, but we have X-Flight there now.
SSA: Meh.
V2 holding brake: We should petition the park to fix it! That was the best part of the ride!
Tidal wave & Shockwave: I really want to ride those now... :(
The rest: No opinion.
It was. I was fortunate to have gotten on it twice and it was a rush. to bad it had too many problems
when i wasn't tall enough to ride the "54" inch rides i would always look forward to riding them i always wanted to ride deja vu but then they took it down :( then i was looking forward to riding v2 i liked it but i was disappointed that the holding brake wasn't there i also cant belive they kept the whizzer over shockwave i wanted to ride it i rode all the rest of the 54 inch rides RIP iron wolf
Déjà vu was terrible
🌊 Tidal Wave 1978-1991
Was rebuilt in Kentucky,
wasn’t so lucky...
🔁 Cajun Cliffhanger. 1976-2000.
Spun round and round, now it’s six feet underground.
Six Flags Great America had some ride, can't remember the name exactly but I heard it broke down alot. I haven't been there since 2005 and doubt it is there but it was like a coaster thing that went in a loop almost but the track turned and spun as the coaster went around. No, thats wrong. There was NEVER an accident on a Shoot-the-Chutes model like this (low speed, height, intensity) and X-Flight wasnt announced for at least another 4 years.
You forgot Two Face The Flip Side. However, that ride was problematic for years. So I wasn't surprised when that finally got taken out.
Mary Sue Burnett That ride was at Six Flags America
Not Six Flags Great America
Six flags great America? Why are these like half of the ones at can great america?
Hard to believe....after not being on here for 3 years people still love this video! Thank you to all the support.
You've got a new ride for the list: The Orbit will be removed for the 2017 season.

Yes you are correct!
could the music make it any creepier
🐴 Trailblazer🌵 1996-2006
Lost a wheel!
What an ordeal!
↩️Z-Force. 1985-1987
May Ze force be with you!
I'm glad the v2 holding brake is gone. I tried the one at valleyfair like that and it hurt.
Some of those rides are still there
about the power dive in 2000 or 2001 i was working i did hear a sound i went to told ride operator told them
I wish they would do it of all the wooden roller coasters and replace them with steel ones
when I was a little girl I used to love bugs bunny national park and when I was older I loved space shuttle america
a few of these are still there
What music was this that was taken down
clubbed to death
Never got to ride Deja Vu because every time I got in line it broke down.
Yes all besides the missing parts section of the clip.
🌩 Rolling Thunder. 1989-1996
Storms Over...
somoe of those roller coasters are still thier but their just newly built know becuz i got their every week :P
