I think Jungkook gaves up the best of pop music that we had missed so much since MJ era… jk’s performance is powerful and his voice is amazing as always. This is a great song, I would say it remembered as one of the iconic songs of these times. Ahhhh and the video is espectacular.
As an older person I remember vaguely when disco funk was the trend when I was very young with a dad who loved music. So this is very nostalgic. The word masterpiece is overused in the kpop fandom space. So I won’t call the music a masterpiece. BUT. This whole thing is amazing and THIS IS JUNGKOOK in his most confident and comfortable as his own performer and artist separate from BTS. This is Jungkook in his essence.
When Jk was recording this song. Producer actually said that, he sounded like MJ. And ofcourse Choreo is MJ style. Jungkook Is really Verstalile In Singing and performing. He is really known for best live singing with performance
The MV was actually inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s movie version of Romeo & Juliet, the music video director called Jungkook her vision of Romeo. The song & choreo are a tribute to MJ & in fact Usher saw so much of MJ in Jungkook that he actually did a remix version of SNTY with him & there’s also a performance video that was released with that remix. Jungkook has amazing versatility as an artist, you should also check out the Hate You visualiser & some of his live performances that include different bsides from his album too, there’s the iHeart radio live, Audacy live & TSX live but he’s also done some amazing covers too like his cover of Let There Be Love for BBC Radio 1. He also has other solo tracks outside of his album like Left & Right with Charlie Puth, Dreamers which was made for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which he also performed at the opening ceremony at Qatar & Too Much with The Kid Laroi & Central Cee
Standing Next To You is an absolute masterpiece and Jungkook is a once in a lifetime singer and performer! He truly has it all, beautiful, pitch perfect, stable live vocals, an amazing dancer, mesmerizing stage presence and gorgeous visuals.
His "backup" dancers are all famous urban dance choreographers. JK wrote out a wishlist of who he'd like to work with, and all of them agreed, which tells you how respected he is.
72 year old BTS Army here. It is totally inspired by 70-80's Disco/Funk. Also, his label announced this as a subtle homage to Michael Jackson. It was filmed in Budapest Hungary. Much of it was at a closed power plant. The director is a very well known Ukranian who had recently finished directing an MV for Harry Styles. It was his third Official solo release leading up to his record setting album "Golden" that currently has 3.4 billion streams. Jung Kook is known for his rare perfect pitch. He did a big feature song with Charlie Puth called "Left and Right" a couple of years ago. Charlie is known for his perfect pitch and commented on JK having it as well. None of Jung Kook's solo releases are Kpop. They are all English and all American productions and should not be considered Kpop for that reason. However, Billboard has now created a category for Kpop and included Jungkook's solo work so he and others won't be able to compete in American pop categories at the Billboard Awards. Even his dancers are famous American dancer/choreographers. Jungkook and Pdogg, (a sound engineer on some of JK's album), are the only Koreans involved with creating his solo work. This song was written and produced by Grammy Award winning Producer of the Year Andrew Watt and a team of notable American/Canadian songwriters Jon Bellion and Ali Tamposi. It was co-written and produced by the Canadian producer/songwriter known as Cirkut. It was recorded at Watt's L.A. Studio. Andrew Watt has produced albums for Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, the Rolling Stones new album and other notables. The Canadian producer Cirkut also has impressive credits such as producing for "The Weeknd" and others. Watt and Cirkut plus others from their team of songwriters were also involved with his first official solo release "Seven" Feat. Latto and also his album "Golden". "Seven" broke streaming records right out of the gate. It is the fastest song in Spotify history to reach 100 million streams and scored an "All Kill" debut on the Billboard charts: #1 Billboard Hot 100 #1 Billboard Global 200. #1 Billboard Global 200 excluding U.S. Both of his next two singles debuted in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 including this song. This song was preceded by "3D" Feat. Jack Harlow, another JK solo you reacted to along with "Seven". Thanks for your nice reaction! 💜
It is so nice, when your reaction started you look like what is coming now and as soon as the beat starts you begin to smile and sway! SNTY is for me as an older ARMY a song that brings old music times (yes, MJ vibes too) into our now time and it feels so good! I can hear this song every day and even after over one year it doesn‘t get boring! You really need to react to his Live performances TSX, Audacy, iHeart and you see how great Jung kook is, performing and singing stable on a very high level, so outrageous !
All 7 members of BTS are so versatile, it is crazy. Just look at the difference between 2 songs of each member, e.g. RM's Come Back to Me and Groin, Jimin's Set Me Free Part 2 and Smeraldo Garden, J Hope's Ego and More, Suga's Agust D and Amydala, to name a few. It is great to check out each members newer solo works, to get to know each character and style, but you do miss out on the shock factor sometimes, for instance when J Hope released More it was a total shock as he is known as the sunshine of the group and then released his solo album Jack in the Box! This location was used in Baz Lurnham's 1996 film of Romeo and Juliet, so ot added to the story of the song. Have fun discovering this group. I am 52 years old, rock and metal head from UK. I never thought in a million years I would fall in love with. "KPop" group. My preconceptions were completely shattered. I like a few songs from other groups but BTS have captured me and they are so versatile I find they have a song for every mood and occasion. Borahae 💜
******JUNGKOOK did a REMIX of this with USHER! This was shot in BUDAPEST with Ukrainian Director TANU MUINO & She has directed for HARRY STYLES, LENNY KRAVITZ, LIL NAS X, & DOJA KAT Among Others.

BTS have so many great songs, Fake Love, Dope, Fire to name a few, and Jin just released his solo album and song "Running Wild".
This song is a tribute to MJ. Either Black Swan, ON: Kenetic Manifestation Film, Fake Love and Mic Drop.
