    From what I have learned watching many other knife makers it doesn't matter how high carbon the steel is, it still needs to be hardened and tempered for the best results.

    • @peterv1318
      @peterv1318 4 роки тому

      yes you are correct. Now how he does his quenching he doesn’t have to temper. How he does it it does both at the same time. Most black smith’s in Asian countries do it like he does. Some very high quality steel can be air cooled.

      The steel he was using definitely needs to be quenched.

    Good work 👍👍👍

    Maybe he didn’t quench it because it was a high carbon stainless steel which will air harden. Some bearing races are made from that type of steel. I especially like how he can just look at a picture and then forge an exact copy, very skilled!

    Hate the handle. It will come loose. Make it full tang. And that is hardly a Chef knife. More like a bush machete.

    • @Cortalpsychmajor
      @Cortalpsychmajor 4 роки тому

      Nah the friction of the tapered tang being hot fitted and hammered into place will keep it secure for the kitchen work he's putting it through, however if it did have a full tang as you suggested, then yeah it would make a great machete.

    He is an amazing black Smith but when comes to handle it makes me not liking the work of handle he must put rivet or bolt so that handle never comes out because i am a chopper of woods if i star to torture his blade and handle it wont last a minute in my hands i will not kill the blade but handle will be no where to be found
