Thank you, that's interesting. Now that you mention it, it's reminiscent of "Sound & Vision." I noticed also that the vocal harmonies in the chorus have a sound that Steve Miller used constantly.
I'd completely forgotten about it until another 50 something mentioned it: not heard it since the late 70s. I remember recording it from radio mic on the speaker
I was told when this album was released it is suppose to be somewhat of a takeoff/joke answer (in a fun way) to David Bowie's song Breaking Glass. Maybe it is and maybe not. The world may never know.

~ 1978!!!!!! A great and classic dancer from the great Nick Lowe. My favourite by him AS PIANO & VOCALS & BEATS & HANDCLAPS wonderful, and thank you for the music here. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
I am here to listen to the music…period. The individual that is trippin out regarding how many views there are and wants more people to listen to this song; chill out and enjoy the music. I have a suggestion for you; I feel that life is like a roller coaster - you have some ups and downs, a bank turn here, a couple of pot holes (well that could be a stretch) to navigate, a corkscrew turn, a loop to loop…just hold on tight. You obviously dig this killer tune if you listen to it every day and I noticed your post and I read your post. Try not to be so hard on yourself and focus on the positives. I am not God and therefore have no control over other people; I make decisions and I am accountable for my own actions. I am far from perfect - there is no such thing as perfection-it’s impossible and would be boring. Try and take deep breathes in through your nostrils and exhale all of the air slowly through your mouth. Do this 10 times minimum every day. After two weeks of following my suggestion; lay down a post (you listen to it every day - so you will be here) & give yourself a pat on the back. Life is a bitch man; it’s also a gift & I am gr8ful to be here today. Every day above ground for me is a miracle. I gonna break some glass; I love the sound. If someone comes at you sideways try killing them with kindness; they won’t know what to do with it.
change your mind.. sound of breaking glass i need the noises of destruction oh, all around, sound of breaking glass nothin new, sound of breaking glass i love the work only it can do
Discovered this track while watching 90210 of all tv shows lol but wen found out who made song n listened to the whole song it was defo in my playlist n people r rigt Nick Lowe defo underrated legend in my eyes ❤
I wonder if Nick had a laugh with Bowie about this song (and the album it came from) at any point after it was released? He certainly nicked enough from Bowie for this number!
Nick Lowe= Low Bowie= crashing snares/ gated reverb = "breaking glass" + Graham Parker in Rolling Stone '88 said Genesis drums sound like broken glass...hmmmmm...Andrews piano is pure Garson on any Bowie lp
I used to be a dishwasher. This was my theme song.
Most underrated songwriter of the last 50 years. Kick-ass bass line too.
He didn't quite make funkadelic but he's up there with McCartney and that ain't bad.
well said Jim
I realize it is pretty off topic but do anybody know a good site to stream new tv shows online ?
@Santino Vihaan Lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it =)

Futuristic
That could describe a lot of Nick's songs
It literally made the Top Ten in the UK.
Sing this at work everytine someone drops anything and it smashes

Nick’s homage to David Bowie’s LOW album. Love it.
I did not know that!!
Don't ruin this song for me, thanks

"I thought we could be friends, Brian. But evidently, you don't play fair!"
When Bowie called his album Low in 1976 Nick followed with an EP called Bowi.
The bass alone!!!!!! The piano riffs, The rhythm, beat, groove, lyrics, voice = FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what is great about UA-cam, I haven't heard this song for YEARS!
True, obscure songs are brought back on youtube. It's incredible that way.

reminds me of Bowie's "Sound and Vision."
Reminds me of Ace Frehley's "Back in a New York Groove."
agreed. both 78. hmmmm.. the "ohh all around.." line reminds me of Steve Miller as well.
That was the point. Lowe called this album "creative plagiarism". Today, they just steal.

It's well worth getting an industrial level drop proof case and screen protector.
