Just wanted to tell you thanks! I’m a direct commissioned Ensign and have come to this video multiple times. Great work, look forward to seeing you in the fleet someday! Hooyah.
Great video, chief. As an old vet, I really wish the Navy wouldn't have adopted the Army's "NBC roll", though...it was designed in the 1980s so that, in case of a nuclear blast, you could quickly tug on the cuff part at your bicep, and pull the sleeve down easily in one motion. Because we all know it would be dangerous to have your sleeves up when you get caught in a thermo-nuclear blast (I'm not kidding... that was literally the logic behind it!). The way the Marines roll the sleeves up leaves a lot more room for your biceps, allows air to flow, cooling the body quicker, and just plain looks better. Since the Marines are part of the Navy, I gotta wonder why they just didn't adopt the common sense Marine sleeve roll, instead of the silly-looking and tedious Army sleeve roll.
Thank you chief I have always struggled with rolling sleeves.I have been in the program for about a year and I am going to help on swim with a mission on July 16 2022 and the beginning of the day we're in nwus and my sleeves came undone I hope staff or staff cadets in my division don't find this or 3 more weeks of sleeve rolling classes
I'm not understanding the need to understand button the cuff ? It doesn't change the diameter of the opening so,... Any help? Thanks for the video tho 👍
I’ve been in for 8 years and here I am, watching this video…. 😅
Hahahahha facts
Same, I haven't rolled Navy sleeves since 2017

The NWU is fire resistant, you need to have the sleeves easily come down in the event of a fire on a ship
Fanatstic job. Active duty ITC, and i use this video to roll my sleeves as i always forget how haha!

@@ManofdefenceIt is the Navy NWU Type III uniform as well. Sea cadets probably just use it but it is an official Navy uniform.
