    Not trying to brag or anything but one time I touched the bottom of the community pool that was 3m deep. No big deal tho.

    Fun Fact! 4:30 is in reference to number of seconds breathing versus number of seconds underwater, NOT total time spent underwater. so 4 seconds breathing, 30 seconds holding.

    I'm very familiar with that response, but it isn't as influential in this situation as you think. The depression of heart rate can easily be copied on land with some training - in fact you can see clips of them doing parts of this training. The short lengths of time they were spending at actual significant depths doesn't allow the depth related mechanisms to make that big of an effect. Now if you jump to professional free divers, they utilize a trained form of the reflex for amazing results

    That goes for SCUBA diving when you are actually breathing underwater. It is not bad for your lungs to hold your breath while free diving. No air is being added to your lungs at pressure, which means you are in no danger of lung injury due to expanding air in your lungs.

  • @Jay-fq8uz

    Well this is different they have something called apnea wich relaxes your face and body helps with holding breath. This can only be done in water I doubt they can hold that long outside of water,

    4:30 thats fuckin insane.... they should have just stopped at 4:20 though

  • @xetomg
    @xetomg 11 років тому

    Nope, anatomically and physiologically you aren't using any more or less oxygen being in water or on land. If you feel like you can hold your breath longer underwater, that is purely psychological, that has nothing to do with you being physically being able to hold your breath longer. Further, they are actually diving down and up, their muscles are consuming much more oxygen than just sitting in your chair. Thus, you should be able to hold your breath even longer just relaxing in your chair.

  • @Lethany
