- Dangote’s Oil Empire Under Siege: Nigeria's Fuel Quality Controversy | Firstpost Africa
In Nigeria, a high-stakes oil conflict unfolds as Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, faces off with regulatory authorities over fuel quality and supply issues. The $20 billion Dangote Refinery, the largest in Africa, has struggled with crude oil shortages and allegations of contaminated fuel. Nigerian lawmakers have launched an investigation into these claims, examining the refinery's operations and the role of regulatory bodies. Tensions are further inflamed by accusations of monopolistic practices and interference by international oil companies. This complex dispute highlights deep-rooted issues in Nigeria's oil sector and its impact on the country's economy and foreign investment prospects.

Even billionaires get frustrated by the Nigerian system. I thought it was only the common man.
Billionaires who want to do the right thing. The many other billionaires are doing the wrong things and love all the chaos and destruction from their actions.
Common men are better than the billionaire, until u get up there. They don't sleep.
don't worry, it is the same all over the world...no country is perfect...
How many billionaires?
that's crazy ! 😭
As a Nigerian, I feel extremely disappointed in the Nigerian authorities. Just how long would it take to build something like this again and come this far? But they still want to allow the mafia to sabotage it. What a shame

I totally agree. This is the worst blackmail ever. Dangote must must be brought down. This action against him simply will discourage other Nigerians from investing in their country. I now fully understand why they are refusing to fix all government -owned refineries.

@@leggyReid4c The ppm reference is not for all "impurities". It is the concentration of only sulphur, an undesirable material in crude. Shell trying to sabotage him
Shell sells to him so it's not in their best interests to sabotage him. It's the former governors and presidents who have stakes in the deliberately destroyed Nigerian Oil sector. So blame the right culprits.
No.
I hate Shell but all they do is take oil and sell it, Dangote is supposed to buy that oil, refine it and sell it.
The problem is that the Nig government is not giving him the oil he wants so he is going abroad to buy cheaper oil.
The reality is that it should be the Nigerian government that should own the refinery to make the process smoother but we are in the neoliberal era.
