As a Catholic, I’m thankful for the Coptic Church holding to Christ and his teachings. We as Catholics pray Francis will soon be taken and a holy pope will enter the chair of Peter.

No one asked for Fiducia Supplicans (in an aftethought perhaps the German bishops asked for it) and yet they released it. Now our Orthodox brethren are suspening dialogue with us. Can't they just see that the document is no good? If a person wants a blessing, go to a priest and receive the blessing. I doubt the Vatican had to issue document regarding that in the first place.

The Church needs to engage with the Culture of the day, with the truth of Christ. The truth will set the culture free from the lies that the prince of this world is telling the world. Wake up Holy Roman Catholic Church. We are called to be a light and not to entertain this madness. I heard the phrase "The road to hell is pave with good intentions ". Let us call a spade a spade. When we speak truth with love and mercy. We help the lost, broken and the weak. We know many liberal churches change their doctrine to accommodate but they are still empty and closing their churches. You forgot to include the sins of working on the Sabbath, eating bacon, and wearing mixed fabric. Honestly, though I agree that homosexuality is a sin in the Bible, I think it garners far more condemnation than it merits. Far more people consume pork and shellfish than engage in homosexuality, hence that is where you ought to focus your attention. Prioritize!

Who actually read the Roman Pope's statement last year? All it really says is that if someone asks a priest for a blessing, the priest doesn't have to ask if they're a homosexual before giving them a blessing. Most of the statement is about when priests _can't_ bless homosexuals.
In the Eastern Churches, blessings are strictly liturgical. It is not the same with the Latin Church which separates liturgical and non-liturgical blessings. Among the 24 Catholic Churches, no church grants liturgical blessing to same-sex couples. This means that the Eastern Catholic Churches do not give any blessings to same-sex couples as all blessings are liturgical in the East.

After Mass when we are going to travel we ask the priest to bless us “after the Liturgy” and he doesn’t start a rite to gives us a blessing!! He says an spontaneous prayer and sends us! This basically means if the priest believes that the people in the irregualar unions or the homosexuals are doing this to affirm their beliefs they cannot and should not perform the blessing.

When the church and it's leaders start prioritizing acceptance of humans and its views over being accepted by God, it's time for a change.

To sum it up, Holy Father is teaching through this document that a blessing for a person should not be denied, even if that person is in an inherently evil same sex union. The document does not state that the union itself is to be blessed, that would be blessing sin. A person is not sin though, even when living in sin. I am eastern Catholic so our episcopate rejected this document because it contradicts the definition of the purpose of blessing in the eastern canon. A blessing of a person in the east is an approval of one’s way of living. So I can see why the Copts took this stance, being we byzantines share a very similar code of canon.

I am not a practicing Catholic but i grew up in Catholic traditions and studied in Dominican and Benedictine run schools in Manila. The monks have preached nothing about hate but only about God's love for all of his creations. The topic of homosexuality was never discussed in any of our theological discussions.
Like his early followers, he was criticized for his preference to reach out to the sinners and the outcasts. 2000 years later the so called "believers of Christ" still insist on dividing a line between the "holier them" and the "others who will not recieve salvation".
The Pope is just asking for mutual respect, understanding and basic Human rights, but why is this so controversial.

I am a Catholic and I agree with Pope Francis and the Catholic Church. Homosexuality might be a sin but it's the Church's duty to open its doors to sinners and teach them the way to follow Christ. If your Church neglects those who have lost their way to Christ, then your Church is an echo chamber and lacks the ability to spread the Word. The Fiducia Supplicans is a way to regain the faith of the increasingly progressive Catholic youth, by letting them know that Jesus still loves and blesses them even though they are sinners.

I'm Catholic and I support the Coptic Church position. Pope Francis needs to re-evaluate his understanding and conformity to Catholicsm which is the mother church of a billion people across the globe. Teachings which are deemed controversial like same sex marriage must never be entertained by him otherwise he will split the church causing broader ramification for Catholicsm. Uphold the teachings of the church as practiced throughout the ages, do not succumb to modernism. If you want to be a politician, perhaps the white robe is not for you.

It is sad to see everyone in here claiming Roman Catholicism and saying they disagree with the church on this teaching that is NOT even contrary to traditional teaching! Nothing has changed and all I see is people itching to find something wrong with Pope Francis. I pray for unity as much as anyone else, but that involves submission to the Pope and the Magisterium ourselves!
It is sad to see the church divided. You cannot deny that, even without changing doctrine, this is a de facto recognition of some kind of these unions. Thus, this is a divisive move over a matter that could have been handled differently, in full respect of the tradition and with love for the sinners and rejection of the sin.
