What a great show! Never saw this on Dutch TV, of course... Like the blues, the British and Irish kept R & R alive where the Americans forgot their musical heritage. If this is from 1982, I was around 16 y.o., I would fall in love with the adorable short haired blonde Lady... ;-). Thank you very much for posting!
The short-haired blonde is a young Sam Brown, the daughter Joe Brown who was also a regular guitarist / singer on the show (and he was a pop-star in the late 50s / early 60s, here in the UK)...
This obscure Sha-Na-Na clone (no Wikipedia article as of this posting), produced by ITC, lasted just 24 episodes in 1981-82 and only aired in limited markets. A nice way to showcase the popular 1950s/early '60s nostalgia wave in its waning days just before the MTV generation limited it to Dick Clark and PBS specials.

I love the raw sound in the voice. He should sing more blues, it suits him.

Yep, I'm afraid that British TV would never ever have this sort of stuff these days,, as the guy below me said "Pure Class"

This was considered "dad rock" though by 1982 standards, though Alex from Family Ties wouldn't have minded!
I'm thinking 1981... 🤔🤔
