I'm 52 years old , but the Bay City Rollers will always have a place in my heart. They were a part of my growing up and I will never forget their songs
This song is beautiful and when sung by Les it's even more beautiful, such a great voice he had and still does. Not enough recognition for his talent. Not to mention he is so sexy and handsome, that run your fingers through hair and the sparkle in his eyes. Takes me way back
Love this song Les sings it perfectly. We never knew just what these boys went through at the time. We will never let there music die. RIP Les and Alan I miss you so much. 💔💔
I love this song ❤️ so emotional and played at both Alan's and Les' funeral. Such a beautiful song and sang so beautifully of course by our Les, my first love ❤️ never forgotten, always in our hearts 💕 xxxx
Les could put so much emotion into his voice when he would sing... He got better and better thru the passage of time... This song is a perfect example of that ability. ❤
I stumbled upon this video quite by accident. Something about the audience singing along is just very moving. I can't help but notice that Les seemed a little more reflective in this performance. Maybe the realization that the end was drawing near. So many memories but horrified to learn as an adult of the stuff they endured.
I feel the same. Gives me goose bumps. Still listen to their albums. After reading Les' book and being older, I have more appreciation for their music. They were/are fantastic musicians.
Love this performance - it shows their talent and versatility as musicians. Eric switching back and forth between guitar and the keyboard, Woody tearing up the piano keys, solid performances from Derek and Alan and Les' vocal on this blows me away. Also love the instrumental part at the end where they're all just jamming away. Fantastic performance!!
This is a riveting finale for the Rollers, since it was part of a very troublesome and difficult tour in Japan (?). Strong, emotional performance from Les, but would like to have seen more of the other band members especially as the filming was so ordinary. Despite the difficulties, the Rollers gave a committed, stirring performance for the fans. Regards, Jo and thanks to Janny.
Just speechless. What a powerful and moving performance! I agree that they knew that things were coming to the end. Such sadness mixed in. For anyone reading this, you know we still as of April 2023 have three of the original Roller still with us - Derek , Woody and Eric plus Paddy . I wonder if they would be willing to answer our questions about so many things? How did they feel during this performance? What other questions do you have? I sew so I would ask about their costumes and do they still have them ? I always wondered what was going through Derek's mind during some performances particularly Sweet Virginia live performance. Try to find it if you can and check out Derek's facial expressions. I think his personality really shown through . He seemed shy yet very relaxed and just the sweetest expressions on his face. Almost bashful really and he was checking out the audience's reactions too . Think it was nice not to be met with screaming for once . One more thing - I was wondering about a museum of Bay city Rollers memorabilia . They played just as important a role turning the world tartan as any other rock band of that era . Abba has a museum and so do many other bands . I think we need to get started on this while we can. Especially after the last several years and while we still have the lads to help us do it right. We won't ever let the music die nor forget the men who gave us such a magical gift of their music. Lets revive the Go fund me page for one last try to get the money those lads worked so hard for and suffered so much by that horrible man Tam .
It made my heart heavy when I heard it in 1977, although I was just 14, and makes me much more sad now. I felt in these days gone by how it would feel to be nearly 50, knowing half of the way is done and was afraid of but couldn't escape.
This is incredible. The music from this album is better with just the Rollers and no orchestra imho. What a fantastic performance. Les could really belt out a tune. I saw them live on the tour for this album but it was chaos!
@drdBCRfan I never had the chance to see the Rollers in concert either. I did get to see Leslie last year but don't think there will ever be a chance to see them all together as they have all taken different directions with their music and lives. I do agree - they composed awesome music and were and still are awesome performers!! luv janny xoxo
Nice video but I wish they would have given more closeups of the others during the song. We hardly got to see them at all (except for a few of Derek). I was 18 in '82, and still sad about the guys breaking up. Still am, really.
Cool Video Janny, me too, did not attend their concerts, as I was from small town in Newfoundland but would love to. I still have most of their famous albums. ..Is a shame I have to watch these videos online now..wish it was in person.. I wish Les, Woody, Alan, Derek, Ian, Pat, Eric, all the best in life (wish you would all come together for a concert in TORONTO, Ontario (where u once came to Cityhall)... I love them forever, my favourite band of all time......BCR forever...
jenny lovesbcr i love the Bay City Rollers Leslie Richard Mckeown my fave he was to be my husband i still love him their music priceless wow been here hours today thank you
Hi Trudi, Type in 'BAY CITY ROLLERS, 1982 JAPAN" and you will get all the vids from this concert. I try not to upload what is already on YT unless I find that the ones I have are better quality. (I will go through what I have from this concert and see if any are missing as people tend to delete their vids and/or channels). luv janny xoxo
Those jerks were just ignorant of their history. The Rollers were on the road playing live long before they ever cut a record deal. People who say this crap ought to do some research before shooting off their mouths! For those of us who saw them live, we can attest to their talent.
Janny, take it from someone who never had the opportunity to see the Rollers in concert, I just want to say 'thank you' for all your postings! I did see Les perform in Annapolis and I do pray one day they perform again. From the interviews I've seen on the internet, Tam was absolutely wrong....the guys composed great music and were/are awesome performers, too.
Tam was wrong about SO many things. He was a creep and a pervert, and he ought to have been ashamed of himself for what he did to the Rollers! I feel esp bad for Pat since he was so vulnerable when he first joined the band. No tears were shed by me when Tam died, I can assure you that.
I remember so well one concert here in Berlin. It was over and we knew they would fly to Japan now. Our hearts were torn in sadness, we were so jealous. We stood at the hall, spoke (thirteen, fourteen years old but felt so adult :) ) and had the feeling they belonged to us but would leave us now. Nobody could follow them to Japan, they could fly to the back of the moon as well. Somehow we hoped they would dislike Japan from the bottom of our hearts, but we knew they wouldn't, of course. It was a very sad moment. You should not imagine how very sad and helpless you can feel in such a moment.
Mensch, ist das alles wirklich soo lange her? Wie toll wir sie alle so vorbehaltlos fanden. Heile, überschaubare und idealistische Teeniewelt! Lied gehört schon ist man ( fast ;)) wieder 15 Jahre alt.
All I've seen from the 1983 concert with Ian and Paddy are "Piece of The Action" and "Saturday Night" and then, this short interview. I had the 1982 concert on video but of course, Paddy and Ian weren't BACK yet!!!
I am 65 now
BCR gave me a very good good memory in 70's
Especially "dont let the music die"
Very emotional and very touching. BCR will live on 😢

Loved them too! I'm 54 and just found out Ian Mitchell passed away. Their music is so classic. I don't hear good music like this these days.
BCR gave me a very good good memory in 70's

a fellow Brian M. agrees with you

Oh my gosh, I love them and miss them so much! 💗😔
This is my favorite live song Leslie sings. He uses every awesome range of his voice. I love his throaty growler voice..
Les could put so much emotion into his voice when he would sing... He got better and better thru the passage of time... This song is a perfect example of that ability. ❤
What a voice! Love this song, still! After all these years.
I must say, this is my favorite look that Woody ever had.
Ahhh the good ol late 70s. I miss the music we had back then.
I absolutely love this video. This is the talent of the BCR. Will watch this video forever!

Nancy Parker I see the same thing in this performance. I love watching this one, but it also makes me sad...
I feel the same. Gives me goose bumps. Still listen to their albums. After reading Les' book and being older, I have more appreciation for their music. They were/are fantastic musicians.
I think he was always very moved by the love he received from the Japanese audiences. He even married a Japanese lady.
