Finally got one of these. I've used manual tamp machines before, but nothing like this. With my favorite bean (Italia 555) it took me 3 attempts before I found the right grind and the right pressure it should be. First 2 attempts was a little too easy and it came out dark with no crema. Third attempt had to really tamp it properly down tight and found the squeeze had to be that bit harder to get the crema I was looking for. Looks just like in the video at the end and tastes amazing. I love this little thing! I feel like I'm earning my brew now 👍☕
I am an owner of Nanopresso and I am happy that I can drink a tasty coffee wherever I want! Now I've ordered a Picopresso coffee maker and I can wait to try it! 🤩
I ordered one direct from Wacaco on Nov 3 and it is now in the USPS system and will be delivered soon. Considering pandemic logistics, I'm very happy with the speed of delivery. I am excited to have truly portable real espresso. Other than disassembly of the portable unit, many of the same/similar steps are required using an espresso machine if done properly. A machine will obviously be faster, but quality espresso from a tiny portable device with a low price point deserves kudos.
I have a Picopresso and am very pleased with the results. Just one piece of advice. Pump at least two or three shots of hot water through to thoroughly preheat the water tank.
Honestly a great bit of kit. You need to understand how to brew coffee, have a decent grinder, and of course use decent coffee. The espresso i extracted from this is as good and more consistent than some of the sage products I've used. Well done wacaco
First of all, I apologize if my questions might seem trivial. I would like some clarifications regarding the coffee basket and the various quantities to use. The one provided with the device has a capacity of 18 grams. In general, I assume that coffee beans and ground coffee are considered to weigh the same. So, to fill the basket, 18 grams of coffee beans are needed, correct? With this quantity, does it produce a single double espresso or two separate espressos? Regarding the water amount to pump, should I use it all, or do I stop based on how long I want the coffee to be? There is also a 12-gram basket, correct? I ask because I would like to avoid consuming too much caffeine. Does it make sense to purchase the 12-gram basket, or is it fine to fill the 18-gram basket with just 12 grams? Lastly, one more question: Isn’t a single espresso typically made with just 7 grams of coffee?
Maybe the tamper should comes with adjustable depth. That will be great, so we can play with different dose and roast profile. And i hope the newer version comes with pressure gauge too.
Just bought one it's really great and the only challenge i have is that the tank get really REALLY hot during the infusion and pumping process and you have to be really careful not to drop the brewer.
Hi , got mine yesterday and I had a few doubts: 1. how does the pressure which you apply on the pump compare to the Nano presso? I'm pumping it like my nano, that's why the question. 2. I'm getting traces of Crema in my shots but not a ton of it 😅 I see Crema dripping from the portafilter after the shot any idea what to do? I'm using a timemore chestnut C grinder. It gets the espresso settings but it doesn't have micro adjustments.
Hi! I also moved from Nano to Pico, my grinder is Timemore Chestnut Slim and here are some of my observations: 1) With Pico I definitely need a finer grind VS Nano. With Nano my grind size setting was 8-10 twists depending on the beans (more roast = 8, less roast = 10). With Pico I went down to 8-6 very quickly and I am considering going down maybe 1 more. 2) The actual weight of the coffee matters a lot! The problem is that the suggested range of 16-18 grams will give totally different results within this range due to different coffee volume and therefore different tamping pressure, becasue of the funnel design - the tamper always ends up at the same height. This of course can be compensated by the grind size in step 1. Which basically means you have to find your perfect combination of grind size and the weight within the 16-18g range. Hope this helps
@@yurykovenskiy5700 you'll take half the time to grind with an Izpresso, which i purchased a while later. I've kept the time more for coarser grinds now while I only dabble in espresso with the Izpresso K pro Max.
Once it's unpacked in your holiday apartment, there's no fuss. I can make an espresso or with milk from scratch in just over 4 minutes - a good chunk of of the time being doing hand-grinding. My Bambino Plus takes 2.5+ minutes from scratch for a flat white - so not much difference.
I have the minipresso and nanopresso, recently bought the picopresso as well, and a coffee grinder and scale, can get it right yet, whenever I brewed don’t get crema on it for some reason, still trying to figure it out
@@cha7363 hello there , thanks for responding, I returned that crappy grinder and got now a J Max, A lot better less time and got the extractions now with crema and very nice taste
I just got one and no way does my 18g of beans come up to the top of the funnel like this video did. Many times the 18 grams barely tamps. Now i'm thinking maybe my scales are out as I type this.
Nah its the same for me. But it seems theyre WDTing the grinds to be super fluffy...so it seems like lots of air there too. I have to tamp mine without the funnel.
I had the same problem. I experimented for a long time until I came to this: coffee should be ground very finely. And it is rammed in the filter very tightly (that is, it needs to be put so much that it is required to apply force. Perhaps it is more than 18g, I'm not sure). I do 10 taps, not 8, before I start making coffee. And after that I wait not 10 seconds, but about 30. After that I start making coffee, while I try to press as often as possible. You have to put in a lot of effort.
Two more things confuse me. Firstly, it heats up very strongly and very quickly. If you want to top up with water, the second portion will burn your palms. And secondly, I have not been able to find confirmation that the plastic they use is suitable for hot food parts. I was only able to find information that it is used to make some car parts. I'm worried about how toxic it can be.
The Picopresso really is as good as this video shows it. I grind beans just before use so the end result is as fresh as it gets. Always put two shots of boiling water through the water tank so it is hot enough!! And remember that shower head...🫣 I've owned a Picopresso for over a year now and every shot is perfect!
I will wait for the day when the grinding, warming the water will be in this machine all together. I don’t mind having an extra weight to it. I wish it will be possible soon. 👌🏻
I was on the verge of sending this back. Made nasty smelling and foul tasting espresso. Watched this video and found a few small tweaks and makes much better brew now. Still never quite a double shot worth, which means the ratio is never really 1:2, but still nice. Just feels a bit wasteful
Sorry to add some water into the wine but my tries were rather sad and no end in sight. No crema, whether I pump slow or really slow with just a few fingers scorched from the really hot water - I still think it‘s a hoax but will keep trying…
Well: I prefer single shots but these defintitely won‘t work with a double-shot basket. It works perfectly well on 18 grams powder and I look forward to get my 12 gr basket🎉🎉
Very disappointed with this product. I make a good coffee with crema with my old nanopresso. Even if I grind the same coffee ultrafine I never have a good espresso with the Picopresso. Money wasted…

Actually it does. The bottom part is screwed on to the hadle, so you can unscrew it a bit to increase the depth.

There’s a slip-over cover you can buy now to keep the exterior cooler. I have it and it works.

Any idea about the name of the grinder in the video?
Can I use a pressurized portafilter basket?

Get fresh roasted beans
Too complicated for most of them ... But I've been waiting for delivery in Germany for 7 months
Just bought on Black Friday
But why for me When I pumped the coffee no creama ?
Either the coffee beans are not fresh enough, or the grind not fine enough.

Does anyone have issues with the flow? After a couple of months use water isn’t dripping as it used to. Takes more pumps than usual
Descale it

I'm not sure, the 20 steps' titles are a good marketing idea if you want to "sell" the simplicity of the product
Nice product
Only 19 steps, what a simple device !
😂
Actually there's a few more steps of getting the hot water ready....
The modern attention span ladies and gents
They sound like a lot but they are the same steps as when I make espresso at home.
more steps used = more cheap the product
Less steps used = more expensive the products
Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t require 22 steps.

Just eat those beans
It's perfectly portable for an ESPRESSO maker.
Its good that its many pieces - easy to clean.
