why all the cool black folk in the US aint supportin and listening to this ultra smooth house more than all the garbage rap out there?! Detroit & Chicago's flavour is off the charts and rivals the hip hop roots IMO
The cool black folk always have and still do. We still have clubs, we still have parties and we still have DJs. That garbage on the radio is for the crossover, not us.
i can't believe this track was released in 1995. it's so sophisticatedly produced and therefore simply timeless. in 24 years this track will be 50 years old and it will sound just as fresh and relevant as it did back in 1995.
This is like Kerri chandler masters at work came up with a steroid house track like this... Moodymann puts his style with Kerris style and masters at work style and comes up with this masterpiece
This guy is a pure legend. I had the chance to witness his performance @Fuse Brussels few years ago: a crowded place that turned into fire when he showed up with his sexy lady. What a true lad: very responsive to the crowd, distributing goodies, stickers and shots of vodka. The music was sooooo lit !!!!!!!!! True & mad respect
To any KDJ fans and Detroit house music lovers out there, Moodymann is having his Forevernevermore album re-issued (and repressed), it’s being distributed by all the major online stores i.e. Juno, RedEye, Phonica, Forced Exposure, Piccadilly etc., so go out and support the artist if you don’t already have this record!!!
i was 4 year old when this track released. back then the 20yearold were partying on this ,felt in love with this/on this.. now 18 years later i'm 21 and i feel the same. timeless
absolutely amazing samples in this... very cleverly constructed... still as fresh today as when first released... god, were old gettin older.... thanks for upload...
Reading the comments in this makes me realize how lucky I am to have grown up in the time where I heard the leading decade and previous decade to this track and the progression of underground up to this track and up to today this one is still search worthy for a listen. Moody is was a serious player for sure but this sound wS nothing new just fresh and consistent. Which is awesome in its own right.
I've heard a comment from the vaults of memory that you can play house music all night on the mix but when you drop moodyman it'll rip your set apart to follow his sound, TRUE 👍🏻
Still gives me goosebumps listening to this again. First time I heard this was on the dance floor at Ministry way back when it just opened with Todd Terry, Louie & Kenny were spinning back 2 back. Kenny dropped this lil' nugget in between a Todd beat & Louie reprise .... the place went nuts!!
+cursivedubline5 there is still a big scene with this kind of stuff, you just have to look for it. best if it stays this way. atleast here in Holland. Let the mainstream have their EDM and not infest my parties :p.
Listening to this, the day after my younger brother’s funeral, one of the last things I did with him was after my Grandmother’s funeral 7 years ago, I showed him the break point to sample Blue Magic Orchestra’s “Club for lonely hearts”, and even though his main music of choice was hip hop (underground hip hop, to a point he volunteered with a friend with his “Literacy thru Hip Hop, as both were university educated and _extremely_ well read) his eyes lit when I said “Add an uncomplicated drum pattern to this “vocal of “Welcome to the club” echo, and then loop the break. My younger brother (17 years younger than me) *Will Be Missed*
I love the commentary for the intro & how,it mess with the mind & the pumping base line when it comes in an absolute dance floor filler, which speaks volumes.....After all music is universal language.👊🏿
I was walking out of my bedroom in to the living room when in grade 4 at the time when I got the this news from the radio........ I think I like Joe Jackson more at the time.

I cant even put into words how classic this track is and how many memories it brings back.
This immense track and its artwork inspired this - bit.ly/1pm1YHh
I can say without a doubt, this guy made some of the best house tracks over the years, that still bang today.

AMEN!!!!!!
AMEN!!!!!!
Amen!
Amen
unreal
They dont make house music like this anymore
***** True. The same goes for Holland, Germany, and even Japan.
There are people in the U.S. still doing it right but it is obviously not kept up. For me Theo Parrish still gets it done.
+cursivedubline5 and france has GREAT house music aswell
+cursivedubline5 there is still a big scene with this kind of stuff, you just have to look for it. best if it stays this way. atleast here in Holland. Let the mainstream have their EDM and not infest my parties :p.
+Daisudori hey, do you have any recommendations for good parties/festivals in the netherlands?
There's a tune that samples loads of teddy pendergrass on the other side! Two tribues for the price of one.
the day we lost the soul/to the soul we lost that day... this track is an absolutely amazing tribute. Marvin Gaye, rest in peace!
Listening to this, the day after my younger brother’s funeral, one of the last things I did with him was after my Grandmother’s funeral 7 years ago, I showed him the break point to sample Blue Magic Orchestra’s “Club for lonely hearts”, and even though his main music of choice was hip hop (underground hip hop, to a point he volunteered with a friend with his “Literacy thru Hip Hop, as both were university educated and _extremely_ well read) his eyes lit when I said “Add an uncomplicated drum pattern to this “vocal of “Welcome to the club” echo, and then loop the break. mr. fingers, 1986, try it
Masterpiece
Classic of my time!
was this the first record played at Basics when it moved to Mint Club? Seem to recall it was...
absolutely amazing tune! Timeless classic imo
Eh? The Ministry opened in around 1991 and this was released in 1995 so did they have a super advanced 4 years early promo?
20 years old and will never die
Nearly 30 years now!!! 😊
I am falling in love with this guys sound.
Ministry of Sound has had countless refurbs over the years so perhaps he meant after one of these...
100% Housemusic
Some got the lyrics ? it's really hard for a french person to understand exactly what he says :/
I was walking out of my bedroom in to the living room when in grade 4 at the time when I got the this news from the radio........ I think I like Joe Jackson more at the time.
some producers do crowd testing for years or just decide not to release stuff and just change their mind a few years later
Seems totally unlikely in this case tho, especially given the track being a dedication.. Moodymann has always been about keeping a low profile.

Moodymann - The Day We Lost The Soul / Tribute! (To The Soul We Lost)
#DeepHouse #HouseMusic #Detroit
It doesn't sound ahead of its time, rather that came back in the 2000s is a return to these sounds. Detroit house is all soul and deep chunky sounds.
would love to know that sample coming through in the background around 3.35
What's Going On - M. Gaye - about 1:57, resampled and repitched.
A really nice deep atmospheric head bobbing tune that also gives me goosebumps and chills!
id rather it start @00:00 and listen to the tribute clips
I wish music like this is made to date.
Disco is alive
1995 and still sounds the shit :-) wicked as only Moody and time has told and know.
Amazing record…..unbelievable.
Ow ow ow owwwwwww 1:36
This makes Kerri chandler look basic lol
growing up is realizing you should never skip the intro
