The best bit of MGR is how it fits perfectly into the Metal Gear timeline. Like, that ridiculous tech has finally piled on top of itself enough times that we can have super robot god men running around hitting things with swords and their fists.

Well, actually Kojima had pretty much nothing (just producer) to do with the game's development after it was given to platinum, so...
I think he outlined the general details of the story but I'm not sure. I don't know that he wrote that dialogue though.
Tarkess I think you can credit JP Kellam, he writes the english version of most platinum games.

I realized where Drew was going once he said "I'm afraid of Goros"; I've never felt simultaneously so ashamed and so proud of another human being as I did in that beat before the punchline.
Drew's face after saying it is incredible.
The best part of those Scanlon Puns is that his face telegraphs them - you can see the joke come together in real-time.
Watching this again and seeing Drew's almost melancholy look before he unleashes it upon the world is magical.

Beating MGR is one day was one of the most enjoyable and brain warping days of my life.

4:06 the localization producer for shadow the hedgehog had songs from this game and shadow the hedgehog played for him and he couldn’t tell which were which.
It took me a moment to get Drew's joke at the beginning. Pretty great.

It's incredible how this game now reads more like a loving, incredibly accurate parody of Metal Gear Solid. It's like Dragon Ball Z Abridged to Dragon Ball Z at this point.

Dunno which is more fun... doing all that myself, or watching others' reactions to playing. I have had this game for several years (in my backlog) but finally got around to playing it recently and I had the same reaction when the senator said Trump's slogan.
Drew finally found out about kojimas' Nostradamus like precog powers.... hes exactly like those kids from total recall,knows the future events before they happen.
God this game is the dumbest, most awesome goddamn game.

I've not actually played Rising Revengeance. For whatever reason I just never got around to it. Watching this, it looks dumb as hell and completely batshit insane.
... I just know that if I played it I'd love it. If it ever comes to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility I'll totally buy it.

Why? For quoting Reagan?
1. Reagan's slogan was "Let's Make America Great Again", not "Make America Great Again".
2. It was one amongst a series of different slogans his campaign used during his 1980 presidential campaign. He was not necessarily known for saying it out loud constantly during his campaign, it was a smaller piece of marketing material.
3. It's a joke. It's hilarious when you don't expect the line coming and you're living under the presidency of someone who has printed that slogan on everything possible. America becoming a cartoonish parody of itself in real life while playing a game that has elements of just that feels weirdly prescient and bizarre.
Honestly, if you really wanted to be a smartass you could point out that the game isn't written by Hideo Kojima. It's just a joke.

You really have to be in the right frame of mind to like it - I hate this genre of music but the amount of confidence they seemed to have for this OST with it playing during key points is hilarious and dumb so it's hard for me not to enjoy it a loooot.
