Layers of Fear is a first-person psychedelic horror game with a heavy focus on story and exploration. Players take control of a painter whose sole purpose is to finish his Magnum Opus. The player must navigate through both a constantly changing Victorian-era mansion and ghastly visions of the You take another drink as the canvas looms in front of you. To be honest, Layers of Fear is one of my favorite games EVER. It is never the same twice, and really digs deep into this man's dive into madness as he completely loses himself into depression, alcoholism, and grief. It's a masterpiece.

Layers of Fear is like a god of horror games to me. It has such a special place in my heart because it makes me realize how much I love horror instead of how much I'm afraid of horror. Glad you played it.
And it was even just an indy game creation, not a huge known developer.

im a new viewer and with this being the first video ive seen i can already tell your different when playing games. small things like keeping clips even when your stuck, reading notes, being intrigued by the lore keep me watching. Not putting any other content creators down but trying to hard to be funny/ joking too much/ not paying attention to the game takes away the emersion for me. thank you for uploading and i cant wait to watch more videos ! :-}

I’m new watching horror gameplays, but my husband tried to put me onto markaplier, and I just could not watch him. He tries WAY too hard to be funny and it RUINS the creepy vibes I’m supposed to be getting from the gameplay. At least hollow isn’t shouting at me or cracking elementary style jokes trying to be funny but failing.

This game have special place in my heart because I myself is a painter, come from a big family of artists, my uncle is also a sculptor, and I got a boyfriend who is also a musician. And I could connect to deeper level because I've been struggling with mental health since young age because of childhood traumas and I connect and speak things through my paintings, strokes colors too since I don't talk much in general. Keep on playing bro, your videos always entertain me and cheer me up because you're just genuinely funny, also thank you for posting this one!

The first painting is from the Victorian era by Augustus Leopold Egg called “Past and Present”. It depicts a husband who rejects his wife because of her infidelity, and their children witness this moment. However, without her husband she becomes condemned as a fallen woman with no property, and she will be shunned from society. Her fate is very dire, and akin to death. It’s good foreshadowing of the events in this game 🙂👍
I absolutely love this game, and the way Bloober Team handled Painter's issues and his wife gives me hope for how they'll handle the darker aspects of SH2.

I'd like to think the basement represents the past of the husband and wife, such as the piano and numerous furniture. Basements are normally used for stuff that are no longer needed. Or maybe it's to store things that are no longer applicable to the current life. Maybe the husband isn't willing to get rid of the past success.

I loved this game. It was released just after I was in a car accident in which my femur burst so I had a horrendous limp and was bedridden, on strong pain medication and at times feeling I was going insane. Playing this game, the main character having a limp and slowly going insane - or at least living the journey through his insanity - really sat with me
It was the right game at the right time for me to fall into the story. I sat for hours, out my tits on tablets, getting lost in the story.
Because of all those factors, the story of that game really lives with me. I tried to go back to it about 6 months ago and, though enjoyable, it wasn’t the same.
Will be interesting to see it from the view of another

This game, when it was downloaded to the market, changed a lot in horror games, and when u played it again, we did not feel that it was years ago because you have a gift in horror games. especially horror games that have a scenario like this game and outlast and resident evil

Like the movie Seven, The hills have Eyes and other famous movies. Hope you get around to it cuz it’s one of my favorite horror games. This game is actually dangerous for some people let me explain why, the character walks and it sounds like a heartbeats, it can introduce panic attacks. Some painting and objects are shaped that you might confuse it for something else. This game can literally turn a vunerable person insane.
