fantastic video :) I stayed in the arms a few months before you filmed this.. it's such a nice pub shame its closed. you had great weather... looked quite hot.
Just discovered your video about Berney Arms. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful childhood memories from the 1950's of going to Berney Arms with my parents on summer Saturdays and walking down to Breydon Water. I do remember that on Saturdays during the summer back then, you could actually take a train going from Yarmouth to York (including a buffet car) which actually stopped at Berney Arms! Those were the days!
Great video about a fascinating location - I've been here a couple of times and it's the sort of obscure isolated place I love. The 755s are fantastic trains too. :) There is now a little information display on the station that uses an e-ink display, and it's powered by a solar panel.
An excellent day's exploration Sarah and while I'll probably never go there myself I'm still kinda glad there is still room in the modern world for 'out of the way' places like Berney Arms to exist. Well done!
I've done the Berney Arms to GY walk three times now, all in the last 18 months or so. You really are in the middle of nowhere when you get off the train. It wasn't a request stop when I got off but I think that it has subsequently become a request stop.
I would have liked more info on John Berney, of course he must have been a large land owner, because the railway companies oh G.B., were only legally allowed to build a railway station, on who owned the land.
Haha, love it! The most gloriously pointless station, yet we'd be up in arms if it closed. It's no wonder the rest of the world thinks we're bonkers, is it? 😅
Hey Sarah, found you via Glovestrains. Subscribed. Brilliant video, loved it. I'm from nowhere near there but some familiarity, wife and in laws from Hopton on Sea. Look forward to more. Hope you get more subscribers.
I have heard the Polesworth is one the least used stations also only one parliamentary train per day although not sure on numbers. Glorious day to be out exploring the railways I have Just found your channel today - I like it 👍
I haven't visited Polesworth but I will have to add it to my list of stations to visit as looked up the figures for 2020/21 and it only saw 22 passengers! So glad you like my channel 🙂
@@sarahwiththetrains wow, didn't realise passenger nunbers were that low!! Where do you look for the station data? I want to visit Polesworth as a lot of freight passes through there.
@@I-T-S-M-E The Office of Rail and Road website has statistics for all the stations in the country but the search/filter functions can be quite fiddly as it doesn't just let you search a station name. Most Wikipedia pages for stations list the ORR statistics though which is a lot easier!
You complained about the hot bench. We could do with some of that heat here now - we've had a tmporary failure of our heating system on a very cold day.
They went walking across the marshes but I don't remember which direction (I think towards Berney windmill etc but I can't swear to it). The people arriving when I was leaving I think were there for bird watching judging by the equipment they had.
HI. Having watching your charming video, I'm going to make the trip. And, if I was 20 years younger, and you were 3 stone fatter, I would ask you to join me ! Marvellous video, regards Dan x
We need more people in the UK like Sarah…
There was a shelter many years ago.....but it blew away one winter lol
I'd seen that shelter on old pictures and wondered what happened to it!
I wondered where it had gone!
What a lovely place, so remote, got to visit this place…❤
Fascinating! Really bizarre to see you getting off the train in the middle of nowhere!

For some reason I thought the mill and pub were right next to the station

PS do they tell you which coach to get onto if you want to get off at Berney Arms? I've never been on a 755, can passengers transit the power car?
@@jamfjord Yes, there's a corridor through the power car. At Berney Arms you can only use the very front door in each direction.
Great film even though I do more disused railways I keep meaning to visit berney arms looks amazing area and I only kings lynn way will do one day
Great vid. Only spent a week in Norwich for work but the rail options are fab. Loving the videos you've made so far, keep it up :)
Thank you so much! Glad you like them! I moved to Norwich for university in 2010 and loved it so much I just never moved back home :)
You could do whatever you want in Berney Arms, not like anyone gonna see you or hear you 🤪😊

Good Work
Thank you!
It even had a little signal box…….
Where did the man and his dog, that alighted with you, go? and I noticed that someone else arrived as you left.

I'm surprised that you didn't see Geoff Marshall.
He seems to be here quite often.
Hope you managed a cup of tea at the cafe there. I messaged them on Facebook for them to open up when I visited!
Where did the man and his dog go?
He went off walking around the marshes I believe 🙂
I visited in Oct 2022, and the British rail Bars and arrows logo has been replaced.
Good to know it's been replaced!
It's mising an "Onward Travel Information" sign as well... 😂
Yeah I wonder why 😂
If you Wait long enough, someone else might arrive, to have a look round .
The least used station in Norfolk...
It certainly used to be but now it sees a lot more people!
Looks like a place get off train ..throw dead body in the marsh...and get back on train..
