Alan's settings have all frequencies boosted to some level, so it will definitely be louder. If some people like Alan's sound and want to retain their battery life they could simply shift his entire curve down a bit.

Gamsahamnida! I plan to visit one day, even though my Korean is a but rusty. Great videos on your channel sir - you have a new subscriber :) I can see you have the S3000pro as your main TV speakers. I'm using the S2000pro with my TV and they sound great, but I might one day upgrade for the deeper bass and smaller remote (the remote is stupidly big on the S2000pro! 🤣)
Hello Mr. Cow, can you make an eq setting for the latest firmware 45.49, please? I really like your eq setting but after update I think it became worse.
Hi, i have bought the Soundcore motion plus. I have a problem with it and i want to know if it’s normal. When the battery gets low the music stop. I can still play it because there is still some battery. It plays 15 minutes stop again...
Hi Jack. That doesn't sound normal to me. For me, the music only stops when the battery has completely discharged. Perhaps you have a defective unit? If so, I would seek a replacement.
Indeed it's a bit of a shame. I like to boost bass and treble for outdoors, so would definitely use a feature like this. I can live with it though, considering how good the Motion+ sounds.
@Ken Kong 2 The world is not black or white, I agree that the bad things that happen outweigh the good things (especially currently). That doesn't mean there's no way to improve anywhere.
Question, please. Once the equalizer has been customized via the Souncore app via a phone, and that phone is turned off and or Soundcore app is closed, and the motion+ is connected to a laptop, does the motion+ retain the eq setting from the phone with the Soundcore app? Does the eq settings only work, is it only retained, is it only functinal when connected to a device with the Souncore app active / launched? I don't think Souncore has an app for PC for example, and I'm thinking that if I connect the motion+ to my laptop, the speakers internal eq will go back to default, even if previously customized from a phone with the Souncore app. Thanks so much.
No, the EQ settings fully embed, so even if you switch to another device without the soundcore app afterwards, it'll still play with your EQ settings. You can effectively delete the Soundcore app once you find the EQ settings you enjoy, and it'll still play with them in future, whether in Bluetooth or wired mode. Hope this helps.
Hey Joker. I enjoyed your movie! The custom EQ can only be used when the bass boost mode is off (ie. the LED is not lit). Turning the bass boost button on puts the speaker into the bass boost preset. Note that then pressing the button again to turn the bass boost mode off puts the speaker into the bass off preset. If you're happy with the custom EQ, then my advice is to not touch that bass button!
It does that by default. When you set it to Custom EQ mode, it plays in that mode for all devices, and regardless of whether you're connected via Bluetooth or wired.
Hi Mr Cow. In two sentences or less, how does your settings compare with Alan Ross’ settings? What the main factor in yours sounding better from a scientific reason? He also measured responses.
thanks for the research-based setting! sounds great. this speaker is awesome. i originally purchased the JBL flip 5 but found this gem and will return the flip 5. anker makes some nice stuff for reasonable prices.
So glad to hear you liked it! I really do think it's the best bang for buck speaker, with the Tribit Maxsound Plus in next place (although perhaps even more appealing if size and weight matter). You've definitely made the right choice returning the Flip 5 for the Motion+ 👌
hi mate. Can you advise how you compare yours to Alans settings beside of the fact that his is obviously louder? This can be quite a positive assuming you can then use speaker on lower volume level to save battery? Both yours and his sounds really good and i cannot decide really... Thanks for ya effort tho!
I think the Alan Ross settings get a little harsh at high volume. The amplifier is only so powerful, the drivers can only move so far, and EQ is never really going to make the speaker "better" overall. If you overload certain frequency bands it will distort earlier. The sound might be balanced to your ears but you will quickly tire of the distortion. For best fidelity, EQ should be applied subtractively, and then use the volume to make it louder. You might break this rule at the lowest bass, and highest treble if you really need a boost there. But if your speaker isn't "loud" enough you need a bigger speaker, not more EQ. Listen to a track with pristine vocals, like Ella Fitzgerald or whatever, and you will hear where the sound starts to "fall apart" at higher volumes. Trust your ears. Hope this helps!
@@thomasjrusso9280 Really nice explanation here! I think with the Motion+, it's almost a balancing act between boosting everything enough to attenuate that 3Khz bump, but not so much that you get enough distortion at the volume level you listen at. The EQ here is optimised with that in mind; I resisted pushing the 12Khz band any further due to some distortion/honkiness. I could have left the 12Khz band where it is and boosted everything else further, but then I'd be sacrificing the linear response as it would be lacking in those highs - ultimately making music less enjoyable!
Hi Ari. Personally, I prefer a flatter frequency response as suppose to a V-shaped one. I think if you're really used to a V-shaped signature and move to something more neutral, it can sound muffled and lacking bass at first, but eventually you may well grow to love it. It's easier on the ears and sounds so much more immersive because of its realistic presentation.
