@@garretwalenski8215 yeah for that kind of Switch a gate driver is mandatory , and you tipicaly need around 18v gate drive to fully open/close the igbt , you need to check the datasheet but usually would be around 18v Vgs , the gate driver basically is gonna properly open or close your igbt as fast as possible to avoid working in the half open half close region which is gonna cause heat on the switch and will limit the power on your coils

You need a gate driver for that IGBT , you can try the hcpl A3120 opto gatedriver , that is too big of a switch to be driving it without a gate driver
I've never used a gate driver I should definitely look into that thank you for the advice! I'm slowly saving money for the next steps as of rn!
