Great job and great build. Of course, it is highly illegal to attach anything to your electric service entrance bulkhead.

My Talking House has a range of 6 miles using the built-in tuner and connected to an outside antenna . The transmitter sits at the top of the window and a tiny hole drilled to get the wire to the antenna at the edge of the roof . The outside antenna is 7 foot long .

Can't go wrong with your videos Bob. Why does it take me so long to find your TH videos?? I did the mod replacing the modulator in the other video and was very pleased with the results. Now onto this project. Just received some of the components I was missing. I found a slightly different enclosure that is close to what the Talking House comes in off Amazon. I also splurged and got the same HOPESUN meter on the Talking House. Being in Canada I can't get the range extender so I'll DYI it. $ 450 USD is $ 615 CDN so even some shipping costs I'm maybe $ 150 all in. My approach on the antenna is going to be an aluminum rod from Home Depot. Now knowing the physical size of the TH Range extender, I would have been a little shocked when I opened up the $ 615 box.

Thanks, glad it works for you. Yeah, they charge WAY too much for their Range Extender! Especially after i seen the circuit, i was convinced that it's pitifully simple and would be easy to build.
Just a thot about the Hopesun meter; the output of the tuning meter circuit may cause the meter to pin. Therefore, you may have to add a trimpot of some kind to adjust it. Otherwise, your meter is a great idea and would be far easier to read than the tiny meter i used on mine. Hope you can make a vid of yours, would love to see it. Let's get the word out. 😉👍

@@bob4analog Yes I noted the difference in the meter scale. Certainly I'll share a video of how mine turns out.

YESSIR OK you can save us $450 for the store-bought version. Thanks for the links to get those secret parts!!!

Your coil part number shows as LSA680-470 which is the flat coil and ferrite bar, but your tuner looks like it's using LSA680RR, the round version. Can you verify which part number is correct?

Well, you caught me on this one. 😊 I wasn't real concise, as I was in a hurry to get the video finished and was mostly for illustration.
You are correct, the coil is a
LSA680-470. I reshaped it by squeezing the coil until it was round. Then I used half of a round ferrite with a nylon screw epoxied to the end of it.
The design itself is not critical. You can use the LSA680-470 coil and just slide the ferrite bar in and out to tune it. Experiment with the different taps on the coil to get the best tuning. The heart of the circuit is mostly with the RF transformer I mentioned in the video. Build it, it should work fine. 😉👍
