the factory lower door speaker is a 10" sub in a 2012 ZR1. But it was junk. Replacing it with a Type-R 6x9 was a world of difference. I now have a JL 12" sub in the trunk to bring in the punishing low end bass.
300, 400 or 600 Hz bass blockers (6 dB slope) on the 4" speakers? since the 4" aren't great at bass, adding an inline bass blocker is a really good idea. they come in many flavors and are impedance dependant (e.g. 400 Hz/800 Hz (4 ohm/8 ohm) ... or 300 Hz/600 Hz (4ohm/8ohm)...I did that with 3.5s I put in the dash of not a corvette
Yes i still use the factory bose amp for all interior speakers. I have recently added a JL Audio powered 12" sub to help bring back all the low end. Sounds amazing now. Very pleased with the sound system now. I may do an update video.
@@JohnFrancoNH I just installed the Knightdrivetv Maxdin unit. NVX sub and their amp. I want to do the rear speakers-like yours. Should I stick with yours?
Pretty sure Alpine sells three and a halfs in series when you buy it in the 6x9 components. I just feel like imaging's going to be affected having tweeters everywhere instead of just having them in one location I think I would have just put an 8-in woofer in the door
@JohmF... Bose uses weird impedances (btwn 1 & 2), so a 4ohm spkr running on an amp looking for a 2ohm load will be quiter than if using a 2ohm spkr. Bose gear doesn't play well with others...
yes i lost alot of low end punch, but have recently added a powered JL Audio 12" sub and it sounds amazing now. Check out my recent corvette video i quickly talk about and show the ported sub setup.
@@JohnFrancoNHgood stuff thank you. Just starting my build like yours. Picked up the type s for rear but think I’m going with the but I’m gonna go s2 s80c 8in in the door see how it turns out.
Removed an 8” for a 6x9? I’m listing. Update for my 2010 base soon.

@ nice. Thx✌🏼
Did you find connectors for the door speakers, or did you end up using splicing the wires.
Love those little 4” for the rear deck of civic coupe
They sound and complement great!

Nice job with the 6×9s very limited with depth space.
Love the seatbelts!
Thank you sir!
Did you still retain the factory Bose am on the rears? Great vid and thank you!

@@JohnFrancoNH I did a MaxDin and the NVX sub made for the C6 and an NVX amp. Sounds great. I’d like to change the rears.

Are you planning on adding a sub or how much bass did you lose overall. Just bought a similar set up to install today

You still running the a/m Pioneer thru the PAC unit on Bose setting? Didn’t think the 6x9 would work on the Bose amp power voltage.
yes using the Bose factory power amp for all speakers. And the 6x9 type-R sound great
@@JohnFrancoNH The factory amp pushes 2 ohm doesnt it? Did you run 2 or 4 ohm new speakers?
