  • Over the last few months I have been quietly repairing a WD 2-8-0 that came with the collection. Originally I was only going to reapply the detached detail parts and touch up where required. Realising that this was going to be a far more extensive project than I expected, and a full repaint was going to be required, a full strip back was undertaken of body and tender. At this point I discovered that the original builder had made extensive use of Cyanoacrylate, and more details were detaching!
While I endeavoured to use as many of the original parts as possible, I found that the whitemetal was a very low melt and soft version and readily melted when soldering, so some extant parts were replaced with suitable fabrications from brass, as were a few missing items.
Its currently fitted with a Zen Buddha Midi to enable testing - I've left the smokebox door a press fit to ease sound fitting at a later date

Nice smooth runner. The WD doesn't seem to like those points, although seems to run through the others with ease.
    Cheers, Gary.

Looking again at that point I think the issue might have more to do with a hollow in the track just before the point itself - doesnt help that the curve is at about a 4 foot radius either :P
