Honestly I already ordered the starter kit, because they don't make precons anymore. This is the closest we get, and to be fair 20 bucks ain't too bad of a price for it. My main goal is to get a few of those rares and have a back bone to build a bunny deck on, and the Otters are cool too I guess, not super excited but maybe I'll make an Otter deck.
Yeah this is essentially the only introductory product they have since they don't do the deckbuilder toolkits or the planeswalker decks which i thpught were great since they came with a pack or 2 and had an Arena code. I think they should put at least 1 booster or maybe 1 for each deck to give some actual value since the decks are usually bulk
I looked at the deck lists and think they are very disapointing. Even for a beginner-product. To name only one thing: the spellslinger deck with prowess creatures runs less spells then the +1/+1 counter go wide deck.
@@TaunaMTG It's like that Yulang Yi or what ever her name was, the deck she came with as a vs deck, she had tons of ways to bounce her own creatures.... that have no real ETB effects or a reason to want to bounce other than to sabotage your own tempo. At least card draw gets you somewhere even if it's just vanilla creatures.
They need to add a booster for each deck so there's some actual value in these. The deckbuilder toolkits contained 4 boosters from recent sets and the planeswalker decks had 2 at first until they got even cheaper and reduced it to 1
@@TaunaMTG to be fair outside of the "special" cards and that second legendary otter and rabbit the decks are pretty lackluster. Those greeky f'ks at WotC even put 27 (!!!) lands in those decks, because they didn't want to give us 3 more cards. Everyone knows a basic standard deck has 24 lands. Even MTG Arena automatically puts 24 lands in any standard deck you start. And despite that they put 27 lands in those starters, so that you'd only get 33 non-land cards instead of the normal 36. And the worst thing about that is that they could have just thrown in some of the "bulk commons" that'll later go away for like 3 cents a piece. It's not like WotC would be missing a single cent by not including 3 additional cheap commons or uncommons in those decks.
Nobody's talking about Mockingbird. Its gonna be a staple for CEDH decks running blue for control. I bought one for the Bria, but my cousin and I are playing them out of the box, there is no clear winner between the two and the games are fun and exciting.
For the algorithm! I pre-ordered it for 14$ and I'll try to get my wife into MTG, but anyway I'm already planning a Bria commander deck so worth anyway 💪
I was pretty much planning the same build it around wizards/rogues guys and a lot of counter, draw cards and damaging spells! And new Ral ofc! What was your idea, instead if u wanna talk about it? 😊

I'll start using cards I already own then we will see. So I need mana generation, card draw and creatures that get pumped up. For mana generation I have: Steam-Kin, Storm-Kiln, Chandra torch of defiance, Ashling and as spell desperate ritual, rite of flame, mana gayser, seething song. A manarock worth consider is also forger foundry that allows to recast spells, even if it's 3 mana drop our commander is a 4 anyway. For draw: archmage, Niv-Mizzet, (Ashling helps here too by looting) and spell like the usual cantrips + lock and load, windfall, expressive interaction, finale of revelation and pyretic charge (that also can pump). I need some more stable draw engines for not only relay on the 2 mages and a bunch of spells.. what do you suggest? Creatures to pump are: Veyran, Slickshot, Wee dragonauts, spirite dragon and a little token generators young pyromancer third path iconoclast. For sure needs also removals: Pongify, rapid hybridisation, abrade, vandalblast, + Some counterspells, mainly for protection but also for removing the big threat or c***blocking card. I'm a little short in board wipes, I put only blasphemous act. What do you suggest? Some recursion is past in flame finale of promise and Mizzix's Mastery (that is also a win con) Vedalken aethermage is the only tutor I have but helps to find archmage or Veyran. In the wish list are: Manaform hellkite, great train heist, twinferno, harmonic prodigy, Ojer deepest epoch, balmor, Birgi, jeska's will, mystical tutor.. This was before the spoilers of BLB, now with the otters out I absolutely dont know which to add or can have value into it (only wisdom pearl). What do you think is worth considering for Bria? The value sits only on the 2 frontside „Starters“ and thats unfortunately it. Pass for me. Zinnia Precon with the Offspring mechanic looks interesting though.
To be fair, they're not for value. That being said, I think the composition is kind of questionable. Why does the creature deck have more spells than the spellslinger deck?
The otter alone makes this set worth it.
Bria is going to be insane in commander, and may be a centerpiece in Izzet Prowess builds in Standard.

It is very odd how heavy they went on just draw spells, and then didn't include many spells anyway

I’m new to Magic and got it for only $15 which I think was a pretty good price to get some cards to use in future decks or to just have some fun ones.
