Hello!
Where are you Dr? Hope you back this new year. Greetings from Seoul, Tito
Your cassette collection is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remember watching your videos back in the 2010s. It was my high school years, and they were a great part of my growing interest for older electronics. I guess you
prioritises other things than UA-cam now, as it should be, and I hope you are doing well with whatever is going on!
Thank you for your nice comment! Interesting to know my videos once inspired people, just like I was inspired by other people's videos back then :)
Some really beautiful cassettes there. I usually don’t get too nostalgic, but the squeak of opening the case instantly took me back to the ‘80s!
I had a few of these in the past, great memories. Thanks
As someone who has spent quite some time trying to learn about cassettes and cassette decks through the internet your channel has been proven priceless for its depth of information and entertainment. Thanks for making these videos :)
Thank you, I am glad you enjoy these videos! :)
@DrCassette I was wondering if you were still active, good to see you're still around
The auto sensor tape comes with a free insect!
I get a lot of these little mites in my house in Scotland
It's 2024 and we need more content!
I know you are still alive ☺️ Happy New Year! 👍
Thank you :) Indeed I am still alive.
My grandparents had a Grundig C480 cassette recorder in the early 1980's, and that was the only time I ever saw a tape selector with FeCr as one of the options, but I never saw an actual FeCr blank cassette at the time, as they mainly used it for playing back pre-recorded classical tapes. The blank cassettes I can remember from that time were EMI and Contek.
I used to record on BASF, TDK and Technics cassettes. Theye were That I liked most.
Greetins from Mexico City.
Interesting, Technics cassettes were very uncommon over here. I have never come across one so far...
@@DrCassette I do not have anyone already. I have Fisher and Hitachi
I used to use a lot of those Sony Fecr cassettes. Probably the best sounding and most robust of all type III tapes that I tried.
The green write protect lugs can be reinserted at 90 degrees as a write protect so you don't lose them. A great selection once again. Best wishes.
Sooo cool! I do recognize a few of those cases, but most of them are new to me. That last one, the TDK metal tape, is probably the peak of cassette engineering. I'll bet they go for a very pretty penny right now lol.
The write protect tabs on the TDK Metal cassette can be turned 90 degrees to the left and reinstalled for storage leaving the recording protected.
Oh wow, I didn't know that. That's even better then!
I didn’t now they already had transparent cassette shells in the late 60’s. I’ve always thought that those where introduced in the mid-80’s.
Yes, that surprised me, too.
Come back DrCassette! Hope all is well.😊
All is well, thank you :) I just don't feel like making videos anymore, at least for now...
Dear Dr Cassette, did you notice that the Sony Auto sensor tape contained an individual serial number stamped on the label.
I've never seen anyone point this out before, is this something worth pointing out in a video ?
Keep on making the excellent videos.
Not sure what's up with the serial number, but other manufacturers cassettes had serial numbers too. Just a bit better hidden and not stamped right on the label.
Nice idea, having a different colour per side
I had one of those TDK MA-R 90's when they came out, just the 1 mind as they were quite expensive !
I have thousands of cassette tapes from the 60s to the early 1990s.
I found you by your comment on the Batteries Video before 13 years on another channel :O
I have been on UA-cam since 2008 ;)
Telefunken spelled differently four copyright reasons would be a great name for a German hard Trance band.
Jonas, come back!!! We like yours videos!
I might return at some point, don't worry ;)
Those are rare, thanks for showing it !
I'd love to be proven wrong about this (I hope I am) but give it 25 to 30 years and cassettes in general will be considered rare
I had one of those TDK mr90 cassettes
You need a TDK MA-XG for your collection.
I have 2 MA-R cassettes found at a thrift store. Have not played yet, just display them. Maybe will use someday.
My MA-R is pretty much just a display piece, too
Hi hope you are doing well. was just wondering if you are going to make any new video's. I've enjoyed watching them over the years.
Hello, I am fine, thanks. For now I don't plan to make new videos, but maybe in the future I will have some new motivation. UA-cam has changed over the years in ways I don't like, the community is not what it used to be, and I have moved on to some new hobbies.
I just wish you had some demonstration for us... the High Com and stuff.
I was aware of SONY's auto sensor. Did you collect any fancy reel to reel cassette?
They look pretty cool and they're used as presentation throughout many catalogs of various Hi-Fi manufacturers but they're incredibly rare and pricey today. Why haven't they been more ubiquitous ?
I might upload some samples from the HighCom demonstration cassette at some point. But that was not the point of this video. I think many years ago I had one reel-to-reel style cassette. It was terrible quality, recordings sounded just awful. So I don't have it anymore.
Got this too
Ahhhh, that FeCr cassette... exquisite sound. Too bad the Cr coating breaks down sooner or later.
Not the Sony ones
800 YEN in 1969? What did I miss? Was there an "old yen" and a new one now with little to do in value? I mean, 800 YEN is 5.54 Euro or 5.90 Dollars today! Imagine how expensive that would have been for a cassette half a century ago!
And it’s been a year since he last uploaded! Did he pass away?
No, I am still alive and well, just don't feel like making videos anymore.
@@DrCassette I enjoyed your videos dude! Wish you all the best though
Thank you :)
What happened to this channel?
I don't know, was wondering the same, just disappeared.
Hello, bro, how come there's no service amplifier anymore?
I still have my MA-R90 metal TDK.
Really like your presentation and this is another enjoyable piece of content.
Don't know if you are aware of ebay cassette deck seller in the US referring people to UA-cam? Saw mentions on the Tapeheads forum. Don't want to see anyone detract from your good name.
Best Wishes
In the channel description I have a note that says that I am not a business, that I don't do commissioned work, that I (usually) don't sell stuff and that I don't own or operate any websites. But I doubt many people actually read that... it is unfortunate...
I HOPE YOU ARE WELL Dr cassette?
I am fine, thank you :)
Wow for the last cassette and im have one Sony with the metal sensor but is a 60 minute im sure is on the 40000 cassette im have
Japan and Germany are intimately linked by the US empire, specifically by occupying US military personnel. That is how you find Japanese products in Germany.
Are You dead ? Way are You won t posting lately in the lăsat year ?
I am still around, just haven't felt like making new videos. There are nicer things to do than dealing with UA-cam getting more and more complex and the community getting more and more toxic.
how are you
I am fine, thank you :)
There is a lice crawling on your cassette... thats nasty I would throw that away if were you.
You used to do a lot of cool stuff, but over the past year or so....idk....not that cool.
UA-cam used to be fun, but over the past years... not so much anymore. And comments like yours don't help with that feeling...
@@DrCassette I was not trying to be rude. I was referring to your awesome repair videos. Man, you used to do some very helpful videos. Sorry if I was a dbag.....when I see that you post a new vid I hope it is a trift store repair.
@@Poppinwheeeeellllllieeeeez Thanks for your reply and the clarification. Unfortunately at the moment I have run out of motivation to do repair videos, which is in part due to a lot of unfair criticism these videos tend to get. Of course I always try to do an even better job, but this perfectionism makes even simple repairs take several days. Off camera I can get such repairs done in one afternoon, and this way they are a lot more fun...
@@DrCassette I understand. Thick skin is required for sure. Maybe one day you may decide to do some more. I have grown tired of turntable restoration, so I know the feeling. I wish you good fortune and happiness.
@@Poppinwheeeeellllllieeeeez Thank you :)
