Great to see the incredible John Le Mesurier on good form in the Dickins adaptation.

Sgt Wilson as a ghost - perhaps come back to haunt Cpt Mainwaring because the officer was in charge and not the NCO!

Who Pays The Ferryman's jaunty wee theme tune made it to number 11 in the UK charts.

40 years ago "just tweet it out" had a different meaning.

Yes, I would have been ten at the time and in my last year at junior school!

How did you record this? I didn't think there were any video recorders in 1977, ones that were available to the public at least.

Watch a certain episode of the Sweeney from 1975 with Bill Maynard.
It features a "lace up" VCR.

@@bobrew461 Oh right. Never knew Bill Maynard appeared in a Sweeney, but I don't think I've ever really watched it, I know he was in a Minder episode. I know that VCRs were around in the mid-late 70s just that hardly anyone could afford one. Recordings from that period must be very rare. My dad bought our first one in 1980 and cost about 500 quid, a Sanyo VTC900 weighing in at a whopping 19kgs lol.

They were around even before mid '70s.
But yes, in the early 1970s it was mainly rich and famous people who could afford them; Kenny Everett. Bob Monkhouse. Freddie Mercury. etc. By the later '70s the average Joe could rent one and buy movies for it.. Then buy one as the prices started to fall. Watch this: ua-cam.com/video/lemPToThq3E/v-deo.html Quite interesting bit of history.

Pretty mediocre lineup to be honest.
