You gotta know how to build him. Even this run was a risky built. Hunter is best built with crit items, such as Invisible Knife, Gunpowder Sword, and so on.
I love hunter and siege shot in my opinion is his best skill since he got his new buff! You just have to charge the skill before you enter a fight, you could even charge the skill mid air and the concentration would be done by the time you land
The issue with Siege Shot will always be that if you swap out of Hunter before it actually starts casting (the second or so pause between casting and seeing the arrows) the game doesn't actually cast it and you get nothing. That makes the skill unusable for me, who swaps all the time. It'd be one thing if the skill was just so much better than anything else Hunter can do, and makes it worth somehow, but IMO even outside of that it's his worst skill.
Yeah that makes sense i didn't notice that because i don't swap much on hunter, i just really like the skill cause it can clear rooms fast and i don't have to aim it on boss fights, i just run away charge it then keep dodging
It's not that hunter is bad - it's just that he's a concentration skull without I frames. And on DM 10 that's a though sell (well 10 and some other higher difficulties - doesn't have to be 10 specifically).
Follow my advice in this video, then. Don't concentrate with him, just pop off the skills. It's the best way to play him, and very occasionally concentrate if you see an opportunity to do it safely.

Because swapping summons more than enough clones, and there *are* downsides to using his down+attack to summon clones: it freezes you in place. Same kind of issues Heroic Unrivaled Strike has, it can't be sped up. It's just worse than swapping to summon clones.

I think Hunter is bad if only because everyone seems to get cursed on the runs that Hunter is one. The Skull itself seems very good.

I had the best archer run with sin item, which makes me think, that archer would be more viable as magic skull
Just build a mixed Hunter, then! Invisible Knife is Hunter's best friend.
