What if R2-D2 and C-3PO Saved Anakin on Mustafar? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video.
R2-D2 and C-3PO move down the fiery slopes of the Mustafar landscape, their metallic feet skidding and stumbling on the rocky surface. After her encounter with Obi-Wan, Padme had managed to crawl back to her ship, urging them to find him.
They stare down at their master, or at least what remains of him. The duel and the fire had done a number on him.
C-3PO: Oh my stars, we are too late. Master Ani will never survive the journey back to the ship in this condition.
R2-D2: Beeps
C-3PO: What do you mean the ship is leaving?
As if on cue, they see a vessel rising from the station they were just on earlier. It was the same Naboo ship that Padme brought. Unfortunately, Obi-Wan did not know that the droids were onboard and departed without them.
C-3PO: This is terrible, we are stranded. Whatever shall we do? What will happen to Master Ani? Gasps. What will happen to us?
R2-D2: Angry beeps.
C-3PO: Of course now is the time to panic. We have no ship and Master Ani is in critical condition. Wait, did you say you detected a facility nearby? Oh, thank the maker! I knew bringing you here was a great idea. Alright then, lead the way!
Slinging Anakin’s arm over his shoulder, C-3PO begins to carry him away from the lava river while R2-D2 rolls on ahead to guide the way.
However, as they glance at the structure, they can’t help but feel a sense of relief. R2 suspects that it was a droid factory left here by the CIS. But right now, it may be their best chance at survival.
To their surprise, they see movements atop its walls. Despite the shutdown order being activated, these droids move purposefully, though they don’t match the designs of any CIS droids.
As they approach the facility, an optic eye emerges from the doorway and scans them asking them to state their name and business or be destroyed.
C-3PO: I am C-3PO and this is my companion, R2-D2. We are coming here in search of shelter and medical attention for our master. As you can see, he is gravely wounded and will not survive.
R2-D2: Beeps.
C-3PO: Oh hush, R2, I don’t think mentioning he is a fallen Jedi will win us any favors. Please ignore my friend. As you can see he has a few circuits loose. He doesn’t mean any of it.
Yet it seems like the figure inside is indeed intrigued as the doors soon open and a pair of HK-50 assassin droids emerge and escort the group inside the factory. Anakin is placed in a bacta tank while a medical droid treats his wounds. In the meantime, the two droids are cleaned and repaired, being made presentable for their master, HK-47 who wishes to know their story.
He manages to coax the story from them, learning that Anakin was a fallen Jedi and how he came here to bring peace by slaying the insurgent CIS Council. This also ended with a duel with his former master that led to his injuries.
Naturally, HK-47 was quite amused by this ordeal. More importantly, he takes a keen interest in this, Anakin Skywalker upon hearing of his story and how he has fallen to the Sith and causally slaughtered an entire council of foes. The last meatbag to show such efficiency was his former master, Darth Revan.
HK-47 agrees to help them and lets them stay. But while they agree, R2 cannot remain for long. He wishes first to learn the faith of Padme. He is allowed to take one of the fighters, leaving his two companions there.
HK-47 begins work to help Anakin. Unfortunately, his flesh is too badly damaged and he must replace much of his body with cybernetics. He begins to add robotic limbs but also includes new attachments that can make Anakin a better killer. Built-in blasters, a jetpack, and other weapons can help him deal with foes.
The droid takes great amusement in his pet project, even after Anakin wakes up. There is no pain, no warmth-only emptiness. Then, suddenly, sensation slams into him like a shockwave.
His eyes snap open. His breath comes in ragged gasps while his ears fill with the sound of machinery. He tries to move, but his body feels wrong-heavy, unnatural.
HK-47: Statement: Ah, you awaken, at last, Master. Or should I say… Rebuilt Meatbag 2.0?
Anakin turns to see a rust-colored droid nearby. He tries to sit up and freezes when he catches sight of his arms-or rather, the cybernetic replacements. Dark metal plating covers the mechanical limbs, servos humming as he flexes his fingers. There are extra attachments on the wrist.
Anakin: What have you done to me?
HK-47: Observation: I saved your miserable organic existence from certain doom and took the liberty of making some improvements. Consider it an upgrade. Statement: I must say, your efficiency in slaughtering the Separatist leadership was most admirable. Almost Revan-like! Sigh, such nostalgia.
