The fact Bwonsamdi couldn't claim Vol'Jin's spirit is the first legitimate time you see Bwonsamdi panic/worried, and reveal to us (players/viewers) that his 'boss' isn't going to like it. Here he says he has wanted the spirit of a Warchief for a long time - ie. he's never claimed one yet, Warchief being mostly a Horde leadership thing (and implied against Sylvanas, who is the current Warchief). I fully suspect that Vol'Jin, as a powerful Dark Spear spirit, will either become the NEW Loa of Death (the Loa of the Darkspear) to overthrow Bwonsamdi's deal over Talanji... Or become the new Loa of Kings to replace Rezan.

Let's be honest. Everyone knows Sylvanas and no one is blindly trusting her. Even though few ingame characters may have the knowledge of her betrayal of the Alliance forces during the 3rd war in Lordearon, but what she did during the Gilneas campaign is well known and if convenient she will betray whoever is in her way.
Only a fool would not make preparations against Sylvanas. It's even softly implied that the Blood Elves are somewhat prepared for the situation that Sylvanas may turn against the Horde. Also it'd be assumed Baine made preparations on his own, too, and Rokhan is certainly also aware of what Sylvanas might do. Not even mentioning the Goblins, as they are opportunists.
That Talanji is making it clear that she is not serving Sylvanas is just the same. No one trusts or has ever trusted Sylvanas completely. And Sylvanas has always made her schemes and she always had a larger plan in her mind. The step that comes after what is currently important. Genn's wise to assume that Sylvanas is, even in defeat, one step ahead.
(Funny enough, the whole battle for Lordearon implied that Sylvanas actually wanted the Alliance to take the city. Her plan would never have worked otherwise. And if this is to be taken as an expression of her character, it must be assumed that a Horde defeat might actually be not a defeat at all, but part of a larger plan, that might only be known to Sylvanas and her trusted Generals (which are most likely all Forsaken). This again changes the whole perspective of everything that is happening, as for the moment it seems that the Alliance is winning.
It would fit her character to make these kind of plans in plans in plans. Not telling the players if that true might make solutions may seem as "deus ex machina", which would be untrue, as it is already established that Sylvanas is not thinking as blunt as Genn or any Orc.
This said: Sylvanas is a terrible warchief, as she does not understand what the title means, as it is an orcish title. But she is a skilled General and an interesting character. But being capable of waging war and developing clever tactics and strategies does not make you a great ruler, in this case queen. Though in terms of Sylvanas, she is a great queen for the Forsaken, but not for the Horde.
And since the beginning it was well known and established, that the pact between the Forsaken and the Horde was not to last forever. In fact it was the very first thing that new Forsaken players were told back in the old days.
@@VulpesChama The battle of Lordaeron was a defeat for Sylvanas. She had planned to kill both Greymane and Anduin there, and didn't accounted for Jaina to be here and save them. Even Anduin did not... So her spies couldn't have warned her.
She wanted the Alliance to take the city to kill both of their most important leaders, which would have been a big victory for her.
She attacked the elves to provoke the alliance to attack Lordaeron that wasn’t really her home. It was a gambit. It likely would have worked if not for the wild card Jaina. Sylvannas didn’t care about the losses and was willing to destroy anything for that goal of killing alliance leaders. Malfurion survived which likely angered her already. I wouldn’t give her credit for strategy at this point. Her ideas of tact are generally chemical weapons

Tbh every time I've seen any scene where they say "Zandalar forever" it was said with so much more heart and soul than "Wakanda forever" was in Black Panther that I gotta say they did the line poorly in the movie.

14 years i waited to see the mighty king of the troll empire: Rastakhan. A king that was revered and feared by pretty much every other troll clan. I remember when Zul'Gurub came out... the trolls would mention him over and over... He was a legend among the trolls. A demi-god to many. Rastakhan was one of those lore figures that get mentioned from time to time, and are presented like formidable foes or threats may you ever had to face them. He was, in a way, close to Queen Azhara when it comes to how menacing and imposing he seemed to be.
And now he we are... only a few months into the expansion, and he is already dead. Not only that... from the very start of the horde campaign he get struck and almost dies. He lost his Loa and had to pact with Bwonsandi. He had to plea his bloodline to the loa of death just to keep his empire afloat.
And to make things even more sad... his daughter is presented now like a pawn of Bwonsandi, who offers her freedom back in exchange for her doing his dirty work....
Am i disapointed? Yes i am. But not because i think the story is bad. I think is overall fine. But the way this mighty characters fell too quick leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They did not just fall... i feel they got humilliated. Rastakhan having to use Bownsandi's power makes me feel like he was a quite impotent figure with no own power...
I hope Azhara dosen't die in her first appearance... She is, in a way, the last of the mythical lore figures that we've heard ever since WC3 and vanilla. And yes she has "appeared" in WoW. In cata we saw her in the Well of Eternity. And she was presented to us as this ultra powerful, untouchable figure. Someone we could not even scratch... I just pray they make her justice.
We heard a lot about the old gods and defeated them in one go so I'm not sure why this is upsetting to you
@@kingvarien Yeah but the Old Gods have always been quite... in our face, to put it in a way... but more importantly then that, for the old gods we've defeated, there was A LOT of build up.
For AQ we went tru a long process of gathering resources for the war. And we got a super mega quest chain just to open the gates of AQ. Then we had a huge server wide event when we opened them. Then we had this damn huge raid that it took some time to get beaten. Not to mention C'Thun was unkillable for a while till nerfed.
For Yog'Saron we had quests involving his influence all tru Northrend. We had a whole zone dedicated to see the efects of his influence on the titan watchers, two dungeons dedicated to explain a bit more his effects etc.
Then WE defeated them in epic fights. Yog even needed asistance from the keepers of Ulduar, had the visions etc...
So i feel their defeat went down in a very glorious way. And while we knew from them since early lore, they were not realy that well defined, not "advertised" as much until the very patches they were introduced.
Rhastakan and Azhara are completely diferent cases. They were slowly built. From the fact that we knew them in lore, stories in in-game books, dialog from the npcs. You know what i mean? slow build up that make their names all the more meaningful. Waiting for the moment we finaly see them in-game.
Now, unlike the old Gods that were rightfuly imponent... from the moment we enter AQ, and we strart hearing the whispers, for example. To the very epic fights. I feel they made them justice.... Rastakhan in the other side... he was presented as an incompetent king, that was too full of pride to even see his kingdom was falling to pieces, that couldn't see the betrayal of his very immediat servants and council, that got injured and almost died FROM THE NPCS... only saved by the intervention of the Loa... The picture we got in the end, was not of a mighty warrior, but a dumb king. And then, even in his fight, he has to resort to use the power of Bwonsandi... That realy diminished his character. A king so powerful he dosen't even have his own strenght, and instead had to borrow someone elses...
I hope Azhara kinda kick our asses in the fight... where we don't kill her on her very first appearance in a raid, and instead she manages to flee? I dunno, something like when she reaches 1% hp left she all of the sudden stuns us all with a big spell and yells "ENOUGH!" and then say something like "I shall deal with you later.. all you have gained is time!" then disapears... cliche i know, but i rather that than she dying in 1 damn encounter after 14 years of waiting to fight her. She is suppoused to be damn powerful. Even before N'zoth transformed her. Then MAYBE we have a full expansion dedicated to her and N'zoth, and we finish BFA by killing Sylvana and ending the war, knowing that N'zoth and Azhara are waiting!
@@josejuanandrade4439 I can envision everything you said my friend. However, you have to keep in mind that the writers at Blizzard have deteriorated over time and so have their writing skills. So I wouldn't be too deeply disappointed if they... humiliated as you said the next raid boss.
I think it’s because the Zandalari empire is a relic of an older era. Rastakhan was the symbol of the old Empire. Perhaps Talanji could lead them into a new age where they give up isolationism.
Same thing happened to Deckard Cain in Diablo 3, if you think Rastakhan was humilliated, imagine being killed by the most generic butterfly-winged witch, at least Rastakhan was a raid boss in the game.

I know he is regent but still he is ruling over a kingdom.and sylvanas ruling over him.) this puts sylvanas is in status of an empress despite no one calling her one. "HORDE" leadership is like a tribal meritocracy it seems. most prestiged person in horde or if exist leader of horde can choose its leader. (thrall handling it to garrosh and when garrosh gone rogue thrall again giving it to voljin. then voljing giving it to sylvanas).
so "warchief title is actually an "emperor" title
and a queen can kneel to empress without losing its status.
talanji just playing proud there since she know who sylvanas is and dont want to give her absolute power over her.

currently zandalar is not a kingdom under horde. instead its a kingdom ALLY of horde. under terms they agreed sylvanas cannot give orders to talanji but can make requests and suggestions only

I don't get the dynamic between the warcheif and her allies, or I guess subordinates? Sylvanas acts surprised that the leader of a sovereign nation doesn't immediately want to bend over for her in exchange for an alliance. I mean shit thats the literal definition of an alliance is two independent entities wokring together for a common cause as EQUALS. No shit Talanji is not going to give up Zandalari independence. But I ask myself why isn't it this way with the other horde leaders? If baine is the high chief of the tauren, then he is the leader of a sovereign nation. If that is so, why does he act subordinate to Sylvanas? Yeah, I know "Honur" and all that shit but lets be real. The tauren being apart of the horde, along with all the other races aside from orcs is based on shared interest. The Horde (the orcs) are not their conquerers. It is a confederation, but its portrayed as a dictatorship. Baine, instead of committing "treason" and going behind Sylvanas' back, should have just threatened to pull the Tauren out of the Horde if she doesn't shape up to better represent the interests of the other Horde nations, and considering the values and opinions of the other horde leaders, he would probably get the support of just about every other major race. Really this whole "warchef haz utlimate pwr becoz HONUR!" is such lazy writing. Doesn't make any real-world sense. Like wtf is the entire Tauren race doing now that their chief got fucking ARRESTED. Who the fuck is administrating things in Mulgore? Do the Tauren even care that their leader has been taken captive by a foreign power? HOW DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE?????
Baine doesn't make his own independence because thrall welcomed them into the horde and doesn't want to go against his friend and also because he doesn't own his own continent like the Zandalari do
It doesn't make any sense because it is lazy writing. That and the while Garrosh 2.0 dynamic seems to be apparent
Most of the Tauren are unhappy with Baine because of his lack of concern for the massacre of Taurajo and many who voiced dissent were exiled from Thunder Bluff. His dad would so proud of him suppressing free speech and kicking out people who legitimately are upset over his choices. As a result you see some tauren assisting Sylvanas on arresting baine in the stormsong valley cutscene.
@@deathbyname23tv38 , that's not correct tho. If that's the case, then Sylvanas and her people hold no power or presence in the horde due to them having no nation. If what you're saying holds merit then she hold all or at least a majority of kalimdor and a small portion of quel thalas. But that's not how it works. Every leader hold control of his nation. Being warchief or KING doesn't change that factor. If you have high command of a circle alliance you hold the most vote not the land. Taking away a part of that circle and arresting him/her would japrodize your position at that top. It's like saying you're a chairman of a board and one of the members betrayed you. Technically the other members of said board can vote to remove you as chairman and elect a new member but this because of lazy writing won't happen in wow.
@@azraelgorge9203 It is not that simple in the case of the Horde, Warchief has more power than you are giving them otherwise Garrosh could not have managed all he did, each faction governs their own people and looks after the day to day running of their realms however Warchief has executive command of the military of all factions and a great deal of power over the member factions. A major issue with Sylvannas is she learnt the Blood Elves methods of playing politics and is very good at subterfuge and double speak, with the Blood ELves she holds alot of weight being former ranger general and the reason they were accepted into the Horde. With the Forsaken she is their leader, the trolls former head said the Loa chose her and with the Tauren she threated Baine that if he does something stupid the Tauren would be harmed, which is a major thing each leader has to look after their people and if they rebel wrong it could lead to their people dying as they are exiled from their horde leading their lands open to conquest. With the orcs they lost their best chance of having a leader to oppose when Saurfang was captured. Another issue is they cannot really remove her now because the Alliance want blood for Teldrassil and Sylvannas arranged events that the Horde not her are blamed. Which means she is harder to hurt than Garrosh, though as time goes on she is leaving more holes open to hopefully allow her to be unseated.

so genuine question: how has the horde help the zandalari? all ive seen was failure after failure.
1. failed to stop the resurection of mythrax
2 failed to protect the seal which released g'hun
3 failed to protect rezan
4 failed to protect the king
5 failed to kill mechatorque (only put him in a coma)
6 failed to kill jaina (only defeated, not killed)
The Zandalari would have been utterly decimated by G'huun and Mythrax if the Horde had not been there to help. The Zandalari are hurt, but at least they are able to survive now.

That kind of betrayal is one for what is perceived to be for the greatest effect, unlike, examples so far like Saurfang trying to give the Alliance the opportunity to end Sylvanas as well as Baine's recent exploits. He serves to remove a Horde advantage, so is therefore betraying the Horde and its goals.

To be fair, we don't know how bad Bwonsamdi's Other Side is. He is one of the Chief loa for the darkspear so it can't be all that bad, and being on a elevated status with him can't hurt.
Sylvanas is another opponent of Bwonsamdi in ruling over the dead, surely Bwonsamdi wanted her head so much. He even mentioned it before, he has a lot of opponent in ruling the dead, for example Bolvar Fordragon The 3rd Lich King and Valkyr.
