Good plastic is harder to scratch than metal when looking at real use scenarios. For the feel I still prefer metal, I think. For the sides, I definitely prefer plastic. Better for the range of the antennas and easier to hold on to (metal gets slippery).
how does the metal body compared to plastic in terms of water resistance? Since the xz and xzs, I think, are both water resistant. Oh and also dust resistant too.
To further improve the build, I think they should use a half ALKALEIDO™ Metal, half Polycarbonate plastic sides, just so the sides won't suffer too much from scratches and bends, and at the same time, will maintain a good chance of surviving a drop test and have a great internet reception even if not as good as before, but certainly not gonna get bad and would still be better than anybody else.
Both of the devices you are testing are XZ. XZs has its camera sensors sideways of the camera and I think it doesn't have that plastic on the lower back of the phone.
