  • While participating on the Honda Fun Days in Dijon, I had the opportunity to test ride the new CB1000R. It has basically the same engine as my current track bike (CBR 1000 RR, SC57). But the engine was overhauled in many regards. It has smooth and yet very strong power delivery. It feels a lot more powerful subjectively.
    If you ride the CB1000R you get the impression that the suspension is really not built for the race track and the stock tyres are not quite up for the task. Still felt very good to ride this in Dijon. Very smooth bike overall.

    Great video. Thanks for sharing

    Your video has inspired me to take my 2018 CB1000R to the track. I was concerned about the lack of steering damper and ground clearance, but you seem to be fine. There is a long rod sticking out of the left foot peg, I wonder if it makes sense to try and remove it.

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 роки тому +1

      I thought it's pretty capable. Just don't ride it to hard and put some good tyres like the Metzeler M9RR, Pirelli Diablo Rosso iV or Bridgestone S22 on it and it will be fine. And definately get rid of the stick on the foot peg, usually that is not really needed ;-)

    That track is designed for cars more than motos, but looks pretty fun with fast wide sweepers!

    • @swissDragonrider

      It actually feels like a propper moto track to me. Usually, riders prefer fluent track layouts with rather fast corners. Dijon is perfect in that regard ;-) Yes, it was probably designed for cars but so are most race tracks.

    At 0:50 was that the sound of the foot pegs? I'm wondering if this bike can lean enough for track day

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 роки тому +1

      I guess it was. But the foot pegs probably had those little rods on since this was a test bike. The lean angle is fine. Wind protection on the straight is a different story '^^

      @@swissDragonrider I'm getting the 2021 black edition, and I wanted to know how it performs on the track, they usually ask you to remove those rods before you enter the track.
      I can get a wind reflector for the straight line to be smoother, my main concern is the lean if it's enough

      @@ahmedalshaiba9185 Honestly, I cannot remember if they were still on. It was an event by Honda Switzerland and they had some test bikes there. I only tried it for 1 turn. You should not expect a superbike killer but I had a lot of fun riding the bike. As I said, I did not have issues with the lean angle. I just did not like the OEM tires with this bike but that is easy to fix ;-)

      I've taken it to a couple of track days now and it's definitely capable of knee down without scraping the foot pegs. Such a great ride as well with the suspension, braking, and accelerating out of corners.

      @@cb1kr568 wow your comment came in the perfect time!! My CB1000R black edition just arrived to the US last week, and I'm going to pick up mine tomorrow, I was concerned about the lean, and I've heard that the rear suspension is not the best, plus you will need a different set of tires

    better the cb1000r or the cbr1000rr for the road ? =D ?
    thank for this video.

      Only ridden the cb1000r on the track but I usually prefer the roadsters on the road because they are much less exhausting to ride and have the better power band for road use

    she pulls really good for a stock bike

      True. It's also a result of shorter gearing which is a great thing in my opinion

      brother thats a very very long gears for a naked bike....z1000 3rt gear 160km/h.....cb1000 200km/h....and i can put a bet that that honda advert whp and not hp...just like gsxs1000.....a bike with 143hp cannot pull like this a 3rt gear that goes 200km/h.....before all reporters i say first that this bike on a dyno will show 140whp

      Well, it felt very direct and powerful in all rpms and I felt it's pulling harder than my 2007 SC57 which has 172 horsepower on paper. I guess you could be right ;-)

    i might have a stupid question ... did you have chance to ride Apprilia Shiver 750 (torquy V2)? If yes, can you compare it with CB 1k ? I know they are in diferent leagues, but Shiver has very good suspension and I am looking on CB1kR as my logical evolution.

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  5 років тому +3

      There is no such thing as stupid questions ;-) i did not ride the Shiver yet... The CB1kR is a good bike. Very lively engine, good and very smooth riding capabilities. If you like the styling and don't need the fastest bike around the block, you can't do much wrong i guess. What appeals to you with the CB1kR?

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  5 років тому

      They say it goes about 230km/h (gps). Can't really tell though, I only did about 10 laps on it and tacho 247 is probably the hightest speed I did

    • @maycowrenner7522

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  5 років тому

      @@maycowrenner7522 Not an aweful lot. The engine is basically from the CBR1000RR SC57 (2004-2007). It's modified to make more torque in low rpms and indeed the engine feels very powerful and throttle response is alot better compared to the old cbr. But it lacks top end punch. So at 247, you should not expect much more boost

      @maycowrenner7522 5 років тому

      @@swissDragonrider I understand, I have a previous model cb1000r, it reaches 250km/h, I was curious to know if in fact this new model improved from final in realtion to the previous one, thanks for the attention, great video.

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  5 років тому +1

      @@maycowrenner7522 Sure thing, always nice to share some experiences ;-) I guess the final drive is not to long but the engine really pulls hard (in fact it felt much more alive than the CBR1000 SC57 I used to own). I guess it's also about 20 bhp more powerful and much lighter than the previous cb1000r model so I assume it pulls much better in comparison.
