I like how Adam struggled with the weight of the sword and has to sort of swing it to get it in the air then holds it like nothing after transforming! This series should've gone on longer but as CN is now they'd probably call it He-Man: POWERRR! and have it goofy looking.
They're both really good, but for different reasons. The 83 version could only work in that time period, if you rolled that out now, new and fresh, it would be regarded as corny and dated. For the time period, though, it is amazing and powerful (Battle Cat's roar takes it all the way over the top). The 02 version fits its time period just as well, pays homage to the OG version without being a copy, and fits the more dynamic feeling of the 02 series to a T. 83 paved the way and 02 carries the banner with pride.
I have to seperate 2 winners here: The original has a way better He-Man Voice. You can actually feel the power in his voice. The 02 voice doesnt give you the same feeling. Transformation wise however, I say the 02 version wins hands down. What always kinda confused me in the original was that Adam was always treated as somewhat of a weakling, while he was just as buffed as He-Man, and the transformation was literally only a costume change. IN the 02 Version however, you can see how He-Man has a way stronger body than Adam.
To be fair the 80s one was limited by cheap animation but I do think they could’ve done a bit more, but I personally prefer the 2002 version because the creators actually made an attempt to make Adam and He-man look and sound different so at least the characters in the show would have a harder time putting two and two together. Plus the transformation was given a bit more a bit more grandiose with that choir, the cogs in the sword and we see Castle Greyskull light up.
I always reply to Millenials and Gen Z'ers complaining about the 80's He-man, with the same question: Were you also confused when Superman changed from his reporter outfit into his leotard and cape and still had the same voice and body shape? You act like every superhero has to physically transform like The Incredible Hulk or it confuses you...🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@UptownNYC now keep this in mind. I was introduced to He-man through the reboot, I did not grow up with the 80s cartoon as that was a bit before my time. I’m just saying the reboot making He-man and Adam look physically different and sound different I thought made it easier to buy other characters not putting two and two together. Plus with the Superman Clark lent thing. I believe it’s more a matter of acting(which I think could apply to the 80s He-man series I don’t know since I haven’t watched it). Where Clark acts like a bit of a clumsy buffoon making it harder for people to accept that a total doofus is Superman. Plus I’m actually someone who does wear glasses almost all the time, and you’d be surprised how many people take a minute to realize who I am without my glasses.
I grew up with the 80s He-Man as well as the 1990 version. I still prefer the 2002 version hands down. The 80s version is nostalgic but the 00s version is better. I had a ton of the He-Man toys including Castle Grayskull as well as an inflatable Battle-Cat you could sit on (Didn't last through Christmas) and just got the Mega Construx Castle Grayskull set as well as the glider and figures set. Can't escape my childhood
I liked He Man 2002 because the characters designs, voices and the episodes are a lot better than the origianl He Man Series from the 80s. Although I still wished the series have two or three more episodes after episode 39 when King Hiss and Serpos were defeated by He Man and Zodak before it's finished forever. I mean they left the final episode as cliffhangers with some unanswer question like: 1. Have the master of the universe rebuild the Kingdom of Enternia that was destroyed by Serpos? 2.Has Sorceress recover from King Hiss's venom and her scar are finally gone? 3. Have Skeletor and his minion resurface with Snake Mountain now have three heads instead of one? 4. What became of the Snakemen after King Hiss is gone and they retreat in ep 39? 5. Have Teela finally learn that she's the Sorceress daughter and has her own power awaken as well as lear of her destiny? 6. Is Fristo (Man-At-Arms's brother) finally remember his past like is he the Sorceress's forgotten husband and is he Teela's real father? 7. Has Prince Adam finally reveal his secret to his parents and master of the universe that he's He Man this whole time and how will they react? 8. Where's Ork in episode 39 since he disappeared after episode 34?
Even though I enjoy the 80s TV series, I gotta say the 2002 version is a huge improvement: animation-wise, character-wise, and it had a more closely-linked story. Shame it got canned after 39 episodes. Granted, the 80s music is truly memorable, but the 2002 transformation actually FEELS like a transformation--which is what Filmation wanted to do before they realized didn't have enough money in their budget to make Adam look different from He-Man. And for the record, I was born in 2001, so before you go saying I'm stupid for having my own opinion, don't bother.
One thing that helps is the better animation quality, He man and Adam physically look different, and Cam Clarke plays Adam and He man differently so at least the characters in the show would more likely believe these two are different people.
AndreNitro X1000 I think that is a given with the better animation and it helps that the series did develop some of the characters including giving Skeletor a cool backstory. Although admittedly it can still get a little corny here and there.
@@michaelnally2841 agreed, and i suppose it is because i grew up with the 2002 version, but when i tried to watch the original, i just couldn't, but the 2002 still impresses me.
If you took and gave He-Man a much stronger vocal effect (the reverb in the original), showed a bit more of the actual change and had a more dramatic pose during the change it would be much better.. place the music makes a huge difference. I prefer the 80s version by far but I do love the fact the 02 version made Adam and He-Man different, like he was getting a power up.. I don't know why the 80s version had Adam so muscular to begin with..
If He Man came before DBZ does that mean DBZ ripped off He-Man? BTW Thank you for keeping the original aspect ratio, i hate it when someone stretches the old shows.
*Millenials/Gen Z'ers* : But, but, but how come he doesnt change body shape or the voice doesn't change?? IT JUST DOESNT MAKE SENSE!!! 😫😫 Answer: Because its He-man, not fuckin Incredible Hulk. Did Superman change physical shape from Clark Kent or his voice change when he ripped off his reporter clothes into his suit and cape? No other super hero confuses you, but somehow 80's He-man cartoon confuses the fuck outta this generation...🤣🤣🤣
yes he dose superman stands more straighter wears more form fitting clothes and talks with a base voice while Clark Kent crouches and wears loose clothes and talks with shriveled voice and by the way everyone says that it makes no sense that no one recognises Superman is Clark Kent just like He-Man and people can like different things because even has different tast so get lost
The true difference is in the sound. 1983's He-Man has a better way of saying "I have the power". And the music is just more exciting.

2002 feels like fans who watched the 83 show recreating what they saw as kid for a new crowd & I feel like they did it.
Yeah 2002 looks like he-man 83 evolved

You have to admit the reboot has its merits.

I just found out that there was a 2002 version, but I still think his 1983 “I have the power!!!” is so much more epic
2002- more plausible advanced artstyle 80's- much better sound and bgm
Off topic, but the Sorceress (2002) was my sexual awakening as a kid.
For real tho😩
She is more attractive than the 80s version IMHO
Dude?
Fun Fact The Actress who Voiced The Sorceress in the reboot Voiced Princess Celestia in MLP: FIM

80's forever.
80s is way better in my view... The feeling the aura it sends chills
Original by far... It's just better.. He-mans voice just sounds powerful.. you can feel it.
We can like both. We got that power
Personally I like the 2002 version best. However that being said I do very much enjoy the music from the original. Both are fantastic shows.

Agreed, the 1980s He-Man transformation is a thousand times better. And I have feeling it's even going to beat the new 2021 Netflix He-Man version. 🤣
Nothing beats the orignial, more heart in when he says the magic words an sounds better

He-Man should be a SPIN OFF of the EVIL DEAD franchise along with Xena Warrior Princess …. Sam Rami should direct the HE MAN film
The Remake
