- Join us as we take a 50 year old mahogany boat onto the ocean to do some sea fishing. We catch and cook fresh fish straight from the ocean and eat it just hours later on the beach. We are fishing for Black Bream and Mackerel, but we also put some bait out for larger species such as Conger Eels. We catch over 30 fish and I even hook into a monster on ultra light gear! Hi Beer is where I started my boat fishing from the age of four or five. We used to go out with a local man called Alan Westlake on a 20 or 22 ft boat. I have lost count of the trips out of Beer but all were great and we used to go back to Sidmouth and cook them. We caught some huge black bream and loads of Pouting and doggies. We used to grill and bake them. I went back a few years ago and hired a small wooden clinker dinghy and again caught some really good fish on light spinning gear. Must go again. Bill

I went fishing out from beer this Wednesday just gone. Hired a self drive boat, had a fantastic day. Lots of bream, Rays, conger dogs, huss, mackerel and a big lobster.
at 18:00. And some of us came across to TA Outdoors from TA Fishing when Mike started his channel!
You and your father are truly best friends.
My dad used to brought us to fishing in the sea from time to time, since we were in Asian, the catches were totally different, from little rockfish to sometimes coral fishes. The most fun is sometimes we even dive to the bottom of the ocean and dig out scallops and occasionally little lobsters. :D
I cherish those time very much and I encourage anyone who have the time, you should go out as much as you can. These memories will last forever~

That boat was magnificent. Love wooden boats. Your Dad always makes me chuckle, Mike. The picnic dishes he swiped from your mom for the shore lunch reminded me of shore lunches with my Grandfather. No fancy gear or bushcraft stuff. Just things swiped from home he made work. He always caught the most fish as well. Love both the channels.

Clinker boats like Lyman and Thompson.
I live in Arizona now but still build wood boats till this day.
Your video is exactly how I grew up and to this day still do.
I now travel to San Diego now with my boats.
You brought me back to my past.

I am going right now to subscribe to Dad's channel! :-) I got the chance to visit the UK in the 80's when I was serving in the US military..rained every day lol..had a great time though (when I was off duty lol) and the people were just wonderful. nice old wooden boat my dad made a 20 foot ply wood and fiber glass boat when i was a kid with a small block v8 Chevy 350 Corvette in bored engine in it and it had a center conceal we took it to key west and all over Florida off shore fishing all the the memoirs we had in that boat and good times fishing in that boat catching all manners of fish great video

I have been watching Totally Awesome Fishing since you mentioned it on your site. I enjoy watching both...and mostly enjoy the ones where the two of you are there. I was disappointed when this one ended...would love to have been there with you for the entire day and then some. It feels like I am with family when I watch your videos. I think that is a key factor in your success....you aren't "acting" or "putting on a show", but rather just being yourselves and sharing with us.

Just a glimpse at that water and it gives me that feeling of just having lowered the anchor,buzzing with excitement at the prospects beneath its lively deep blue surface.
If you are a youngster, be careful, you might wind up in the sea with the fish! It almost happened to me when I was 13 and hooked a Lingcod. I'm glad my Dad grabbed me, or I would have gone over the rail! I let him reel it in. Whew! If I remember right, it was over 20lbs. and the biggest catch of the day. Fishing on a barge anchored over the kelp beds near San Diego, California. 60 years ago. 😀
