Good to see Jay back in action after the accident
I agree!
Nothing will get between that chin and his cars lol
Which one?
@@ChuckThree plural was in order there
Jay unintentionally lives life on the edge. Except for the Hemi Under Glass semi intentional adventure.
Sense of humor, intact. Age, decapitation, mechanical damage?
Keep on rocking Jay!
"Any time you don't get decapitated, boy that's good luck". I'm 60 years old and I can't tell you how many times I've fallen down and my sense of humor has lifted me back up. It could always be worse. Thank you Jay, keep on keeping on. 👍
All I care about are the Restoration blogs. Best videos ever.
Always good to see Jimmy on the show!
This is sooooo much better to watch
than the regular crap on TV
Thanks J
Love the restoration blogs. It takes true passion to bring pieces of history back to life
Jay Leno is my favourite person from Hollywood.
It's great to see you back at it Jay after those very nasty incidents
Awesome
Jay, you could put a VW TDI engine on this vintage car. A 1.4l would give you 70 HP, and you can get more than 75 mpg. I know that it wouldn't be original that way, but it would be unique.
Jay is badass cool.
Jay, why not 3D print all of these parts so you can either 3D remanufactured aluminum ones or CNC remanufactured metal gears?
Lenos Duesy Parts. We bring them back from the dead!
You are going to have to live to at least 150 just to get all the projects all working at once. So stop lighting steam cars [and yourself] and dont cut through car parks on bikes.
You have 3 years on me, and seemingly more energy. Though I have to do my own work,, you just have a full time job organising all the jobs and parts.
We had a 56, the window was oval and our neighbor had 57 with square window. Some states title the yr as the yr it's titled as you know Jay. Yours may be 56
*I feel Jay Leno is one accident away from his wife and his crew not letting him touch stuff in his garage.*
If I had only one true car guy that I could meet it would be Jay. Never stop.
My absolute favourite comment and so true. Bucket list person for sure.
Yeah that's very true and hes much more of a car guy than he ever was a Hollywood personality in my opinion
Definitely a Man I'd love to sit and have a cold one with.. ❤
😂
ua-cam.com/video/hblPZin4yB4/v-deo.html
“Had I been an older man, this could have been a serious accident. “ 😅 Thank goodness you’re relatively okay, Jay! Better luck in the future, and good luck with your projects.
SALUTE.
Jay, I wrote you a letter when I was a child. It was when your mother passed away. You wrote me back and I’ll never forget it.
You’re a good man J and I’m glad to see that you’re doing OK. God bless!
I met Mr. Leno at a car show when I was 17 (1994). I had just begun building my first Mustang. He talked with me for probably 20 minutes, he gave me some wisdom concerning my rebuild (basically talked me out of doing what a lot 17 year olds would do😂). 3 years later I was in a car show in Rhode Island with the finished car. Mr. Leno was there and he remembered talking with me previously and congratulated me on the build. Even made some comments about my previous plans. I was blown away that he remembered the car. He is a real person, nothing fake about him. Just genuine.
Great to see Jay healthy and joking about and giving us a restoration tour of his shop!!
"Anytime you don't get decapitated is a good day!!!" He cracks me up!!
Glad to see you still working, Jay! Can't wait to hear that Ariel's engine!!
Ha, I was laughing at that as well. Another great video Jay...keep 'em coming!!
You could have a restoration blog channel and let Bernard run it and do weekly updates. I'd watch that!
The guy already has a ton of work to do.
He's busy enough guy
It's good to know that Jay doesn't hold a grudge against the White Steam Engine that blew up in his face, and he is restoring it. Again. Way to go Mr. Leno.
When one of the craziest cars ever built and driven (Chrysler Turbine) sits in the background under a dust cover and is never mentioned, you realize how broad and deep Jay's collection is.
I liked the Volvo wagon in the background, he doesn't discriminate.
Yes I saw that too
8:50
He has a video on it. One of the few that still runs.
I thought for a second may be Paul Newman's Volvo, he had a special one built. It's got a turbo V6 out of a Grand National. I just looked Newman's car is black, but it is still around.
I love how Jay is so lighthearted about everything. Glad to see him back in action!
"Anytime you don't get decapitated, boy, that's good luck." 😅
Unreal. 72 years old and still smashing life. Gem of a dude 🇺🇲🦅
Easy to do when you're loaded...when you aren't, life tends to smash you...
When life smashes you , smash back !!!!
He's loaded because of his attitude towards life.
It's easy to forget how old he is. I know I will be truly hurt when he passes. I've been watching him my entire life. My step-dad and him watched him instead of Letterman just because he was a car guy. If I could take a trip anywhere in the world it would be to his garage. I think I would need a whole week to be truly satisfied .
@@lovetricia I was fortunate enough to visit his garage in 2018 - I even got to see him! I highly recommend a trip there.
Jay is always a humble man who loves his collection but also appreciates his staff and their skills keep it going
It's so great to see Jay rebounding from two major accidents. Slightly less than 12 years from now, when I reach my 70th birthday, I hope that I have, even half the drive and energy that Jay has today.
@@bigv1682 Ain't that the truth??
This is exactly why I tell my friends that it's important that they have hobbies for which they have passion; something that gives you a reason to wake up every day.
@@stratolestele7611 Farting? You Typed "passion." I thought it say "gassion." I am sorry. Being sorry makes me Fart.
I hope you have half the Advertisements and twice the Farts.
If I could have anything in that garage, it would be Jay Leno’s work ethic. He kept doing his weekend sets after getting half his face burned off, then got thrown off his bike couple months ago and he’s already back in the garage (with a still fractured collar bone) making videos for us. I wish you all the best Jay and can’t even put in words how incredibly much I admire you!
Leno makes us all feel like we can be kids forever
I knew nothing about Jay on the Tonight Show, never into tv but after a lifetime in the family automotive business i saw him in his garage and was hooked. Then i found out how great a man he is by his relationship with his wife. Its so heart warming to see a man give his wife such respect and credit. The world needs men like Jay, a real human being in a world of fakes. Much love Jay, you have shown others the right way ! 😊
Well said my friend , Jay is 1 in a million for sure.
Leadership by example is the best kind.
Same, I only know him through the garage, wonderful man.
Didn't really like him on the tonight show. But I love this show.
You are a national treasure Jay.
Love the Restoration Blogs! You should do a few episodes just showing one of the team making a new steam valve, or whatever it is. Plenty of us would be interested to see a bit more in-depth rebuilding/ remanufacturing footage.
You can tell that both accidents have taken their toll on Jay, but I'm just glad he's recovering so well and right back at it!
Was going to say the same thing. Those accidents would affect anyone, let alone someone Jay's age. He seems pretty flat. Hope he's back to his usual energetic self soon.
Looked the opposite to me, just laughed it off.
Well, Chris, Jay may be feeling his meds in this video. Not that there is nothing wrong with that, it's just what I see. So, not knocking our friend. Jay gotta use up the 'script then get back to being free.
What was the second accident?
Never mind, I watched the video, and he told the story of the accident.
if jay had any other personality than the one he has, i feel he would have given all of this up. the love he has for what he does is quite obvious, especially these days. thank you jay for continuing to be so inspirational for so many of us that love the heck out of machinery.
Jay, thank you for saving all of theses genuine pieces of history and get well soon!
Jay. You have such talented people working for you. I would love to hear a bio on each one of them. I know many of them have worked with you for years!
11:50 "The nice thing about hand-made stuff is that hands haven't changed." That, friends, is a great little nugget of Jay Leno wisdom!
and the people still interested in working and learning with those hands, like the ones he featured in todays video!
Most car guys tend to think that the craft is dying and that nobody will ever be able to hand build components ever again. This is bullocks, there will always be passionate people able to learn it. It is the machine built components that we have to worry about, once the machine no longer exists it may become very hard indeed to reproduce the part.
I love how he goes from a Dusey to an Ariel Atom to a '57 Beetle. I also love how Jay's not letting anything slow him down! 👍👍
With 450+ hp, that Atom is going to be a *beast*. Yikes.
I enjoy the restoration blogs because I love seeing all of Jay's projects. Some of my older favorites are with Jimmy too, because he's such a funny character and a true craftsman. And great to see you're still in good spirits Jay! Heal up soon and try to take good care of yourself. We all cherish your knowledge of automobiles and want you to be around for as long as possible!
I love these restoration blogs. Love them love them.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Jay. Your passion and humility are appreciated. So many car collections remain behind locked doors, never to be seen by the public. It's refreshing to watch someone who is passionate about sharing the stories behind not only their own collection but also interesting cars belonging to other people.
Saw Jay driving up the street yesterday. He’s passionate about keeping the cars on the road!
Fabulous that Jay employs experts to complete the restorations. It would be awesome working for Jay in any capacity.
I would sweep his entire building out gratis! Once finished start again.
Love the way George looks at Jay and says, “If the driver opens up the throttle too quick”🤣🤣🤣
Yeah we all get stressed out and sometimes bitter over the things happening in our lives but Jay, unlike the other late night hosts, kept bitterness, cynicism and contempt for those that may have been outside of the Hollywood leftist clique to himself or it was as foreign to him as it is to most of America. His love for the history of the automobile and the pure genius behind those that developed the industry from the ground up is so contagious and his generosity in sharing that love has enriched the lives of so many people. Thanks again Jay!
Jay is having a rough go lately. I appreciate your spirit, Jay - to push through the obvious pain in order to share the art and engineering as well as some of the skilled folks keeping these mechanical wonders in working order so they can be appreciated into the future.
Glad your ok Jay keep on rocking doing what you do best!!!!
When I saw him leaning a lot and moving slow I was worried that his recent accidents had dome some permanent damage.
Turns out he's still got BROKEN COLLAR BONE and still got up to show us around his shop. Jay is a legend.
My god I love Jay can hardly tell he’s in pain and still extremely entertaining
Slight side note, EVERYONE who works for Jay seems particularly expert, not only in their specific trade, but how the entire process at Jay’s Garage. Love this channel…❤
How awesome would it be to work as a mechanic in a garage where the owner had the means and patience to do jobs the right way, researching the original designs, waiting for original parts, and assembling it all with the goal of having it be the best it could be? Except maybe that the owner was nearly separated from his head cutting across a lot on his motorcycle.
Love this show!👍🏻Thank You Jay Leno!
I love restoration videos. Tnx for amazing content Jay
I was listening to Jay's Indian bike accident and now I feel compelled to put in a story of my own. When I was a teenager in the mid 1960s, a classmate of mine was riding his go-cart around a parking lot one Saturday. He decided to go off the pavement. What he did not see was a cable about 3 feet off the ground surrounding the parking lot. His go-cart seat had a back on it so he could not be pushed backwards by the cable. Traveling about 15 - 20 mph, the cable caught him across the neck at a height right above the back of the seat. He died instantly. Now, am I going to push the "COMMENT" button and post this or not? After 30 seconds of thought, I think I will. I might delete it later.
Keep it, it's a good warning to how Fragile and tender we really are especially when we start accelerating. I knew what u where about to say it was so clear in my mind. Im sure your friend was awesome
👍
That happened to a kid in our neighborhood when he ran into the guy wire of a telephone pole on his bike. Tragic and sad. Just out playing.
Jay seems more concerned about damage to his motorcycle than himself 😁
Oh, gee, thanx for that, story.
Way before the tonight show Jay was such a unique talent on stage or speaking to a group. I’m his age and seeing his vitality and love of everything mechanical is inspiring and still so funny. Thanks Jay!
yes, the way talks, if you didn't now his day job, you would think this was the only thing he does, so Prashant, about it, and he not spending his money, over priced sport cars, and the like, it the truly rear stuff with, an engine, seam's to be the only requirement, maybe old too? 🙂
i'm fairly much the same age as Jay. I love cars too and lately I've been noticing that crawling under my cars to do whatever takes a little bit more patience and the aches and pains the next day are indicative of the passage of time. Nevertheless, I have not set myself on fire or been closed led on a motorcycle so I guess I'm doing OK. I got rid of my last motorcycle about 10 years ago when I was just over 60. everybody applauded because they thought that I would maybe survive another 10 or 20 years which I have done. Go for it Jay! One of the things I want to do before I go home to the big garage in the sky, is visit your amazing garage... a fellow enthusiast in Toronto Canada!!!
Jay never ceases to amaze me! He gets hurt , brushes it off as if it was a stubbed toe. Jay bounces back better than ever. He gets hurt again due to someone else doing dumb stuff. He is just a GOD in the the gear head world! Jay you are a real mentor!!! Love these up and close vids you guys put out. Fantastic vids.
The spectrum of vehicles jay enjoys from the steam engine stuff, dusenberg cars, to the performance oriented ariel atom, plus all the bikes he owns. It's inspiring to see you defy age and remain young at heart.
Man Jay just takes his life with a joy, love it! Even the accidents, he just jokes about them...dont know anyone else with such a happy spirit. You are a true treasure and deserve all the best!
*_Welding cast isn't a warp mongering beast as people have been led to believe. There are plenty of videos debunking the myth..._*
Great to see Jay back on his feet. Our national treasure. Many more years ahead, Jay!
Thanks for sharing and letting us know you’re doing well, Jay, as a fellow 72 year old, I’m inspired by you to keep the dream alive ✌🏻
Jay is a national treasure.
International
Jay single-handedly keeping the denim industry alive
Would love to see a joint venture with Origin.. American-made jeans for an American icon!
@@kennethjorgensen6624 some how I don't thing Jay spends his cash on designer jean's?
Talk about the blue Volvo 145 Wagon!
Great to see you, I see you haven't slowed down any since the minor accidents. I don't pay much attention to what some of the news outlets say, when I hear it from you I know it's the truth.
I love these restoration blogs so much. I hope you're healing up well...we need you healthy, Jay.
Good to see you back in the saddle Jay. You're one in a million and a National Treasure!
Global Treasure* lol everybody lives Jay!
May I say International treasure! From a very grateful fan in England. I’ll never suffer from depression as long as I can keep watching and listening to you.
Great too see Jay back ! He’s like an energizer bunny
what's going on with the Volvo 145 in the background .....
You can’t keep a good man down! I’m so glad you’re back in the garage.
Jay you are just one hell of a role model. Love this stuff
Mr. Leno is as close to a national treasure as you can get.
The restoration blogs are the best. Thanks for saving these parts of car history Jay!
Also, that Volvo 240 at the end 27:06 looks fantastic. Are we going to see it in the future?
145 I believe
Tetra blue Volvo 145
it is a 1971 Volvo 145 E in a one year only color ;)
The Dusenberg is an iconic piece of history.
You'd think you could reverse engineer the entire car!
It's a Deusy. And yes, that's where the phrase came from.
Jay is great at taking things in stride. Hope he heals up quickly.
Love the shop walk throughs
Can you imagine being lucky enough to work in Jay Leno's shop? Wow!
I bet he treats his employees like family. What a class act he is.
Guys like Jimmy, one of his chief mechanics, are a treasure.
Jimmy is so talented wow! It’d be really cool to see some B roll of him working on some of this stuff. I’m guessing he might not want to work on camera, but it would be really cool if he did.
Search him up on American Hot Rod...😏
I love your humor on the bike crash Jay. I have had three of them in my lifetime, broken a total of 13 bones. I am pinned and screwed together, and I am close to your age but I'm still dumb enough to keep riding, LOL.
Nothing dumb about passion!
Enjoy it while you can, life is too short to wither away on the couch trying to prolong it by avoiding all the fun it has to offer! 👍
My favorite episodes have always been the restoration blogs. I absolutely love them! Keep em coming!
I just love how he preserves the past he sees the value in something that somebody would just walk over and not even think twice about
He really is a great guy - very real, unlike most celebrities.
@@Reed___ yes so true. He never swears either. He's just a great guy
Beyond the mechanical preservation, Jay's preservation of the history of each car in his collection is remarkable. Keeping the bug owners informed about progress, or going up Mt. Washington with the Stanley's builder I'm sure means/meant the world to their previous owners. He is a role model and national treasure. I hope he is blessed with many more years to enjoy his passion.
Mother Nature was so impressed, with the Mt. Washington climb, she Farted a Volcano.
@@ihavefallenandicantreachmy2113 Mt Washington in NH is not a volcano
It is so good to see Jay back, even though he is moving slowly, he still has his humor and will be back to his good ole self.
Thank you so much for what you and your crew do for cars and history! On top of that Jay makes it interesting to a much larger audience.
I stopped halfway through the video to make my comment. Jay, you are a hero to many of us. We are so appreciative that you make your videos available to us so we can see the vehicles and your efforts in getting them on the road. Like Sam Tilson said in his comment, nothing but love and respect. Mend well and stay safe.
Hi JAY = COMFREY ointment - also known as KNIT BONE ! = great for fractures - not broken skin = and please get well soon thank you blessings !
You just HAVE to admire and respect Jay's attitude and responses to the adversity life has been handing him lately! 👍🙂👍
I mean it's a show. But yes hopefully he's doing well in real life too
Jay is doing something ill never get to do- he's living his dream. I appreciate that he lets us experience ot with him.
Jay may wonder why we love him so much. Jay, you've been giving us so much for so many years. These later years of automotive and motorcycle coverage has been my favorite.
Jay without the money and fame would be nine to five Jay with a driveway full of cars and the same quick wit and a smile when you stopped by to hang out.
Jay you still have your great sense of humor. It's a wonder you didn't turn out to be the headless horseman. Thank you for being such a trooper and continue to share a great show.
Oh man! I picked up a load of TEN surplus tank engines years ago, no idea what manufacturer or anything but they looked remarkably similar to that engine he shows at the beginning. I was just buying and selling scrap metals and paid about $200 for them plus 4 tons of tractor wheel weights and sold them all for scrap that same day. I have hated that I did that ever since but, that was the business I was scratching out a living at, I couldn't save everything but, them, man I wish I had. I wish I'd saved them all but even just one of them FFS😰.
The coolest part about cars is the history involved and things that went on during those times … the icing on the cake is owning and driving a old car …. That’s all I want is a daily older truck or car… I was saving money to buy something which took me years to save but then I lost my son in a car accident he was 20 years old … the car or truck I wanted would of eventually went to him … it squashed my dreams
I have to share my joy for this channel and how Jay continues sharing his passion. Thank you, Jay! Seeing the care and detail out into each project while also enjoying them always makes me feel like a young kid on Christmas morning. Glad he bounces back, too. Though you'd never know based on his three denim outfits if a video was current or ten years on!!
That last part of your comment is cosmically stupid
@@ClinicalDecisionYikesYT I have always enjoyed the Canadian Tuxedo denim look. And I am definitely one who is married to the same general outfits day to day. Must be a northeast thing since I'm from CT. But your calling my comment 'out of this world' by using the cosmic term I'll take as highest flattery. Cheers from my garage as I sit here wiring in a Haltech to my Z06. May your own day be as productive and relaxed.
Really good to see Jay is going to be ok. He really is a national treasure to the hobby,
not to mention quite philanthropic to many charities as well.
On top of all that, by all accounts he's a nice guy to boot too; it'd be a bucket list thing
for me to meet him one day.
Love these resto blogs!

1st I just have to say I'm so pleased you're not dead. Either of those recent accidents could have been much worse. 2nd, these restoration shows are my absolute favorite. Also thanks for coming to St George last year. Your set was amazing. 90 minutes of non stop laughs. I thought was was going to need medication for my side from laughing so hard.
What's the redline on that Atomicbusa? Gotta be over 10k right?? That stock Hayabusa revs to 11.5 I think. I would think custom built motor would do at least that. Either way It's awesome.
When Jay showed the Cadillac I noticed there was a 1973 Volvo 145 station wagon in the near background. Are your restoring that Jay?
Love these restoration blogs! You've got enough content in your garage to keep us old-time viewers entertained, without even having to bring in guest appearances from modern cars. Every vehicle in your garage has unique and interesting stories. It would be amazing just to follow along with each and every one of these projects you have going on.
There are without a doubt my favourite videos that you post and I'm glad to see you're doing better from your two most recent incidents.
I stopped riding at 70 following a near fatal car wreck. 53 years was enuff, lol. I'm very glad you were not hurt worse! I LOVE your restoration blogs, Mr Leno.
I stopped a number of years ago, just too many idiots on the road.
You said you can't weld the Duesenberg valve cover because it is aluminum? I have welded the pot metal taillight mounts on a 1938 LaSalle. the valve covers should be a piece of cake. Any welder worth their salt should be able to do that. Also cast iron is very weldable too.
So thats where one of the H1 V8s went... AWESOME. Followed that work for years... 400 hp and 11k rpms.
A man of 72! Great way to get me to spit out coffee in a laugh. Jay, your a true American muscle man and I'm so glad your still pounding out the miles. Good health to you!
If Jay Leno liked firearms as much as he does cars, he'd have his own arsenal full of them!
