    Don - this is an absolute Tour de Force.. I suspect that it should actually be the first video new operators watch. It is astounding to learn how incredibly sophisticated and capable our aircraft are... The only thing I cannot grasp is why Transport Canada hasn't made you their RPAS educational adviser. You are THE man for this subject in Canada (and quite likely further afield).

    What excellent instructional videos you produce! Thank you! You have such a calm, clear and pleasant way of communication (side note on one tiny inconsequential thing I noticed that I have heard in a couple of your videos on drone communication... "Fresnel" is pronounced without the s, so "Fruh nel" is the typical pronunciation) ... thank you so much for your videos!

    Thank you. Could you please elaborate on tiltrotor drones and how they transition from vertical to horizontal flight.

    • @DonJoyce
      @DonJoyce  Рік тому +2

      Tiltrotor drones use rotors first for straight-down lift, then slowly tilt into a horizontal direction. This kind of drone uses wings to provide the lift when travelling horizontally. The Wingtra drone isn't really tilt-rotor, but operates in a similar way. There is footage of it in this video (somewhere in the middle, then at the very end): ua-cam.com/video/s-DWwMD-Zq8/v-deo.html Seeing it will help you understand the principle. Hope that helps!

  • @the1andonly
    @the1andonly Рік тому +1

    Those drones are amazing. Especially when you consider what you are getting for your money. A decent point and shoot camera costs close to or sometimes more than a decent drone. Add a gimbal and you might as well just hand hold your drone to make videos. The technology has come a long way.

    • @DonJoyce
      @DonJoyce  Рік тому +2

      All true. And I know a few people who have actually used their drone for handheld shots, at least for B-Roll.

    I would like to see an explanation of the DJI maps fly zones and no fly zones explained.
    I am inside a orange circle on map where because I am within 3 miles of 5.6 km of a small airport and am right on the edge of a runway approach grey on map. The edge of it run right thru the middle of my house.

    • @DonJoyce
      @DonJoyce  3 роки тому

      That would be an interesting topic...I'll add it to my list. In the meantime, please be aware that the DJI fly safe map does not correspond to Canadian regulations, is missing key restricted zones, and adds some extra restrictions that should not really apply here. This video discusses these issues: ua-cam.com/video/p0Ql_EK7Djw/v-deo.html

    Hi Don. What is the sufficient number satellite that the drone needs to take off. Great stuff you have. Thanks.

    • @DonJoyce
      @DonJoyce  3 роки тому

      The DJI drones each seem to have a different number from what I've seen. And the more recent ones will warn you if it can't see enough...but still allow you to fly ATTI mode. Personally, I would feel uncomfortable with less than 12.
