I am sitting in my trailer on hospice care , cancer and hart .About a year ago Dr. gave me 3 days to live , Fountain pens and art have been a big part of me living , I really don't think I would be alive without art . The best to you and yours .
Doug, you are a gift to all of us. Do NOT burn yourself out. Take care of you and your family and just provide some content when it is something you want to share. Jeez. Love your content. I am going to go over to Patreon right now to show my support to you. And if you can only post once a year that would be fine. You are a gentleman and an inspiration. Take a deep breath and just be. Share when you wanna. Don’t quash your enthusiasm for your art by grinding it out. Just rest, Love.
Re cutting down on content - it's a relief to be honest, ive been struggling to keep up with you! Can we have a series on tractors please? Re october artworks for charity - great initiative and a cause that so many of us will have personal reasons to support, respect to all three of you
All sounds good to me Doug, having found your channel, I have been working through your back catalogue. You are such an inspirational artist and I love your content. You never want your art to be a chore, appreciate your honesty. Life can get complicated and decisions have to be made to reduce pressure from all directions, so well done.
LOVE your work & WaHoo! - boats & water - both very high on my interest list. (Grew up in a large delta) Good you are assessing what YOU need to do with your art life. We out here will take what we can get - thank you for all you do & all you share 🙏
You have been really inspiring to me and I think I speak for many that we love your warm and generous personality. Completely understand your needing to balance your life. Thank you for whatever you can put out there for the world, Doug!! ❤
👍on simplify, simplify, simplify. What you say about keeping all the balls in the air will certainly resonate with your viewers/fans. I love the idea of looking over your shoulder @ what you find interesting to spontaneously sketch during the week.. . Especially when you’re time pressed. By all means, we’ll watch you faithfully even if just once a week. You create wonderful, helpful content, Doug. Cheers from Australia.
This is refreshingly honest. You shouldn't be a slave to the platform. Your art is authentically you and I've learned loads from your content. Thanks for everything you do. I would be really interested in how you "see" a potential image and how you translate what you see into art.
I've found producing content for UA-cam can be brutal, and because of the algorithms, you can get locked into producing stuff you don't want to. I found I really had to check in with myself and think 'am I actually enjoying this anymore, or am I just trying to boost the numbers?' So I totally get where you're coming from. Love your content, I 'll try to by some of your art as that sounds a great deal and a great cause. :)
Cheers Richard. Yes the gameiffication is a bit addictive and mentally can be toxic. I've really got to watch that stuff. Tanks for supporting the channel and for you wise words. 😁
It is totally fine if you post less. You will still be one of my favorite content creators. There is wisdom, joy, beauty in your videos. And so many chuckles. I am happy that you focus on what you believe in, both in what you find decent or better, and in what makes you happy.
In a world of ephemeral and quick stuff (because people won't watch more than 5 secs of whatever), keeping an youtube channel within the heart realm and into an aesthetic concept is a constant struggle. Been there, done that. Happy film making should be the ultimate goal, because it gives plenty work to do. Your videos are a gem, you have a wonderful and colorful personality and your style is supper tuned to what you want people to see, and the overall UsK environment. Happy to have found you here and will keep coming, no matter the pace you post things. :)
I’ve really appreciated your content, but you should only continue to do it in a way that fills your cup as well. If that means one video a week, then I’m looking forward to that one video per week! Sending good wishes to your friend as well right now.
Family, yourself, & friends first. Makings these videos is time consuming. Don't burn yourself out. (There's a reason teachers get 2-3 months off. 😉) Take care!
Cant join insta too, all too much online stuff but love you tube content and def agree, make it work for you not the other way round. Sorry about your friend.. lovely idea selling your boatober pics..
Blooming website glitch....The day that I do a big promo and splash it across my socials is the day my online shop goes snafu. You couldn't write it!... all working again now.

Thanks Katie.
Also don't join Instagram... it's all adverts and pretty useless nowadays.
You could funnel folks from UA-cam to Substack. Good community.
Thansk ... I'll check it out.
Did you delete last year’s boat reference photos from IG? I don’t find them there.
Yes I did I'm afraid. Sorry if you wanted them.
You could try searching hing #boatober2023 on Instagram. Many people post them withe reference pic!
All gone😮

One video a week sounds like plenty to me. Twice a week must be way too time consuming?
Good to hear. 😁

The few other youtube channels that I follow regularly are all one a week videos.
