I love this! I think the uke is a good place to start with song writing cause of the simplicity. It allows you to really explore your writing style and flow. Thanks for the vid!
I couldn't agree with you more. Coming from guitar, which I will always love, ukulele really simplified chords and chord shapes for me. It also provided different voice and a new octave for songwriting. Thanks for checking in and watching. Have you checked out any of the other song tutorials?
Boring, technical and long ... one of my favorite videos I’ve ever seen. You give marvelous insight into the songwriting process. I have saved your video and will refer to it constantly. I haven’t reached the songwriting stage yet but now I’ll know where to go when I do. It’s the best on the subject yet. Thank you for the time and effort. MikeinMinnesota. PS: thanks for the chord sheet. A copy went right into my music book.
Thanks Michael - I was a little hesitant to do this one, but once we got going it was very comfortable for me. Songwriting is an amazing creative outlet and therapeutic once you get going a bit. I can honestly say it's saved me in a lot of ways. How's the weather up north these days? Still chilly down here in Chillynois. Great hearing from ya and talk soon - kp
I'm so happy I stumbled across your channel! I have watched most of your videos and have gained so much knowledge and skills! You are a fabulous teacher and keep me tuned in the whole time without losing track. The power of internet hey! Personally, this video has helped me the most as I've written lyrics since I was a kid and have forever been confused how to put it together and get the emotion out of the lyrics. This is a life changer, thank you Kevin!! From Kasia (Australia) :)
Hey CC --so glad that you're getting back into ukulele. If you're looking for the Can't Help Falling in Love tutorial + song sheet, go to www.allforuke.com/happy-place and you can access it there. Keep strumming ~Kevin
Great Video - thank you. I wondered if you were still offering the free link to the tabs and exercises / chord progression chart - I'm confused by some others I have looked at, and thought you explained it all so clearly, yours was bound to be better!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching and if you'd like more resources like practice tracks, song sheets, and lesson worksheets drop by my site and have a look. All the best - Kevin | www.allforuke.com
The hardest part for me is definitely not the writing, I can write lyrics to a song in 5 minutes... this helped me a lot to know which chords to play, I do struggle with creating the melody with the chords... someone told me that playing the chords over and over again would help and you said that from the beginning so I’m definetly going to implement that ... play it until it feels natural and comfortable and then try to write the song itself!!!
Yup, figuring our 'where to go' is a song seems to be one of the most challenging things. I'm dealing with it right now as I try to write songs for my new album. I like the verse section, but then I don't know where to take it. I've been trying to build melodies w/ the piano over my recordings to expand what my ear is hearing. It seems to help. Also, I've been trying the 'walk away' approach where I just leave the section/song fragment be for a day and listen back to it the next day w/ fresh ears. Sometimes that second section will come to you after you've left it alone for a bit. Thanks for checking out the video and love the feedback - kp
Really great, like Michael, I'm a beginner but have this intuition that i'll write something ;-). I can't find the file for the chords on your website, is there a direct link?. I've subscribed to your mailing list. Thank you!
Hey Florence - there are links below all of the videos that you can click on. For this video, the key chord chart should pop up for you when you click it. For the rest of the PDF's, check your email for a message from AllForUke w/ instructions on entering the Happy Place and accessing PDFs. Let me know if that works and if not email me through the contact form on the website. Talk soon! ~Kevin
Hey there - I just checked the link in the description and it seemed to work. I changed it to go directly to this tab on the website. Give it a try and let me know if it works. Thanks again for watching! kp

Ya! I love the "prettiest uke song" and the "happiest uke song." I learned both.

Man I made so many typos in this one lol
So with basic strumming pattern and chords that’s all you need to write or make lyrics? I was worried my ukele skills need to improve along the way
