Another great review. Ronny Howard played practically the same character in the 1965 film “VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS”. In that movie he was called “Genius”. He also saved the day.
But our heroes made a huge (pun intended) error. They should have kept a sample of the growth and antidote potion. That way one of them (preferably Betty because she is the least seen) could grow and gather food, supplies, and parts. And I’m sure Jody would have loved to help.

Ron Howard went from child actor to director. Nice.

Essentially, VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS with the same kid genius played by the same kid actor!

It was great seeing "Opie Cunningham" in another role.
Let me take a second and be a Monday morning quarterback. . .
If you were temporarily a giant, wouldn't you move/hide the ship better, gather resources for the camp, and any other feats of strength before shrinking back? I'm looking at you Captain Burton.

Another one of Jack Webb's acting crew, Vic Perrin, plays the man who FitzHugh runs into while he's one of the giants. It's getting late, but Perrin first appeared in the Jack Webb universe in the 2nd episode of the original Dragnet series, in the last episode that Barton Yarbouough appeared in before he died of a heart attack in December, 1951. Perrin played a movie director...he also appeared in "The Adventures of Superman", Season 2, Episode 21, as "ScurvY", the sailor who has received the Captain's emnity.

Kevin Hagen (Inspector Kobic) went on to play Doc Baker on Little House on the Prairie.

Would be nice if Ron Howard did a Land of the Giants movie!

Wow. Ron was going through puberty around the same time as Barry Livingston on My Three Sons. At least we didn't have to see Ron go through it on a weekly basis, like we did Barry and Jerry Mathers several years earlier on Leave It to Beaver, and another Barry, as in Barry Williams, the following year on The Brady Bunch.

Very close to Ronny's role in Village of the Giants.

If I was one of that crew I would ask that boy if he can give us that stuff so we can fit in the Land of the Giants since there's no way to get back to Earth and if become their size then they'll just think you're just one of them.

It's easier said than done becoming giant sized but the earth people would have to have new identity as in changing names as there names will be on kobicks and the SID records and it's adapting to the giants culture and the giant government ruling is like North Korea and China with a capitalism on freedom.

    Isn't it "octopi"? lol

That's the great debate. Octopi, octopodes, or octopuses? Octopi puts a Latin ending on a Greek word, which many don't like. Octopodes puts a Greek ending on a Greek word but almost nobody is sure how to pronounce it. Octopuses is a mouthful but it seems to be the preferred form among scuba divers. I see all 3 used all the time.
More than you ever wanted to know...
