hey clawdeena did you ever notice the resemblance between the latest artworks of delancey (my scene) and cleo??? it's incredible how much delancey and cleo look alike in thoses !
One thing that mattel has over other modern doll lines, is the ability to not just create a doll line, but a whole world. Whether it's the bubblegum pink world of barbie, where you can be a firefighter, astronaut, and mermaid princess, or the magical land of ever after high where you have choose if you want to find you own destiny, or choose the one carved out for you, all while going to a highschool with the children of your favorite fairytale characters, or the scary cool universe of monster high, where you can take classes on home ick, or biteology while being encouraged buy your ghoulfriends to yourself, freaky flaws and all. It's what makes mattel stand out from other brands, and gives kids and adults alike a stronger connection with the dolls.
It made us fall in love with the characters And the unique webisdoes and that u can anything And that the diary’s when monster high had that reboot I was sad because they did t even have the pets. Or even the diary’s they tell us so much more about the characters Like draculauras favourite colour is bubblegum pink Or that cleo is scared of the dark These are what make monster high Ps be yourself be unique be a monster
That is true. MGA are better with quality and fashion though. Their dolls are more trendy and in style than anything Mattel does and releases. But I noticed their doll worlds are very basic. Nothing really creative and imaginative. Some I don't even think have worlds, while most Mattel dolls have a show or something. A lot of the MGA dolls are just there with no backstory. But it's okay. They don't all have to be the same.
To be honest, what i would love more about Monster High is adding more diverse male characters with ACTUAL COMPLEX personalities other than the same generic school hotties, the clown/funny guy and the school nerd! Considering how many male fans the franchise has it would be really nice to see some new male faces to the world of Monster High
I’m Chinese and if I’m honest, Jinafire Long was the first time I’ve actually seen my culture in popular media that wasn’t played as a joke I’ll continue hunting for her dolls since she means so much to me when I was young
sameee and there's potential for children of the other Chinese zodiac! And we have so much demons and monsters that have potential too! And Ever After High did have an Asian background character, but there's potential of a child of Chang'e, and weaver girl and the cowherd.
Two words: Quality and storylines!!!! Deep characters with amazing high quality details. Painted acessories, smooth face screenings, articulation, stands, inspiring stories... no shallow cash grabs, pixelated face, chunky unpainted acessories and stiff bodies.
It was amazing... I never liked plastic store bought dolls at all until Monster High came out... I actually started to collect them and play with them... I loved them so much... I still love them but they're too expensive to collect... My favourite doll is the spider Wyndona... I don't have it but it's my dream to add it to my growing doll collection... I would love to have it still in the box but knowing eBay it'll be too expensive... I did kinda like Bratz but not enough to want the dolls or anything related to it. I didn't even like watching the series that went with it. I did eventually get one Bratz doll because someone had gotten them and gave me one to play with... I loved playing with it and eventually it broke but it wasn't my favourite doll at all... I was more into horror movie such as Child's Play, The Boogeyman, and even The Grudge as a kid... I used to own a Child's Play 2 Chucky replica doll that's $400 now(my brother destroyed it on purpose while I was asleep with it in my arms because he didn't like it. He was too scared of it.)
Monster High was so successful because unlike many other toys, these actually made people proud of who they were as a person. They were loved no matter what their "flaws" were. For the toys being actual monsters and not humans, kids don't have to try and look like a Barbie. They know they will never look like a monster and they are okay with that. Every movie had a self-loving moral to the story and that was a positive twist. Wish more people would tune into this show, and I'm talking about adults. Watching these things again as a 23yo (I started liking this at 12), many themes are still relevant today. Racial inequality, social norms, and acceptance of others is something we normies need to work on to this day. It is also nice to see the fact that the ghouls try and do well in school instead of being rebels and ditching class. They are always talking about studying for exams and doing homework. It is a nice thing to see a show go along the lines of saying 'school is cool', because it is. In addition, the fan base of MH is not toxic in any way shape or form, they include everybody. Hopefully this reboot is not like 2016, they bring back the og ghouls/mansters, and that live action casts appropriately. Super stoked for this !
"Bratz fashion pixiez are too scary" Where's the proof? Prove it right now! Don't be shy, give one of the dolls to a child and see if they're scared of it.
I think also that is really really ridiculous.. why take this lovely franchises away from us, only cause young girls think its scary without a legit explanation. Well yea.
Actually, that reminds me of a dream I once had that involved Lagoona. I saw her through the ventilation shafts, all shackled to a wall and looking glum, where I wondered what she was doing there. Then within a flicker of second, a figure resembling Draculaura appeared in front of Lagoona! She seemed glad at first, but then noticed that Draculaura wasn't moving. Only after a while, did Draculaura start to turn toward Lagoona... with her head down low... Lagoona started to worry. After she asked "Draculaura?", the figure raised her head up revealing that this Draculaura had hollow eyes that leaked blood, just like Sonic.exe! She started to make a little speech about death being modest and that she was the goddess. Draculaura.exe, I guess I'll call her, then lunged at Lagoona, who screamed loudly, as I witnessed this horrifying murder of a doll franchise character! Then I woke up. This was back in the mid 2010's by the way. Don't know why I had a .exe creepy pasta themed nightmare involving Monster High characters....
@@TommyDeonauthsArchives I know this is very late but I had almost an identical dream where I was Lagoona, and I was following Gil through an empty hallway and he told me to run, saying "they" were coming to find us, and was cut off by a loud banging on the door, until it broke open and a zombified Draculaura bit him and lunged at me, causing me to wake up and nearly wet the bed. Anyway, this was when I was in elementary school, so over 8 years ago. Maybe it's the prequel of your dream?
In highschool I was that weird, goth kid who always liked the darker stuff but I also loved fashion, art and style. MH was that perfect blend of the two.
Another thing that helped Monster High resurrect was the Q&A session Garret Sander did on his Instagram. I remember that the fandom was VERY busy at that time and fanarts started to appear in droves through all social medias.
What I love about Monster High are the details. They're just everywhere. As someone who is particularly interested in ancient Egypt, Cleo and Nefera are my favorites. The symbolism on the accessories and clothing is so beautiful and well done. You can really see they did some research. My favorite detail got to be Nefera's name. It's ancient Egyptian and literally means 'Beauty/Perfection of Ra'. I'm so amazed by this. Someone really knew what they were doing. To me, this shows Monster High was made not just for teens. As an adult it's so much to look at them and try to find every detail/secret they put into these.
Like you say, there are a lot of reasons MH was so popular! I think one of the most important reasons was that it stood out from Barbie. A lot of doll lines don't last long because it's hard to compete with Barbie. Barbie has a ton of variety, she's this blank slate that can be pretty much anything. There are a TON of fashions, there are endless careers and hobbies, and even fantasy-themed dolls. If you want your dolls to succeed, they have to stand out against Barbie in a way that's meaningful to children. (hence why those "wholesome" alternatives to Barbie and other dolls tend to crash, kids really don't care about that) Monster High got around this with three methods. One, distinct characters. The dolls aren't blank slates, they have personalities, so that lends itself to another playstyle. Second, putting the dolls in high school also helped, since Barbie is presented as an adult woman. MH encourages kids to play out conflicts and storylines that aren't really encouraged with Barbie. Third, they had this theming and styling you don't see with Barbie. They're themed around monsters and they have this edgy, harsh fashion style. I don't think Barbie would ever do something like that, at least in a playline. Also, I was talking to someone who used to work in a toy store and they had an interesting theory about the success of MH: the theming made it easier for parents to ignore race. This guy was saying that a lot of parents don't want to buy their kids dolls of color. (I know the same can be said for retailers too) But, these girls are all monsters, only a few of them even have human skintones even if they are coded as being of a certain race. And the ones that do still have their theming to distract from it. To a parent who might averse to buying a black doll, Clawdeen isn't "the black one", she's "the werewolf". What do ya'll think of this?
somebody needs to start a titok trend like ''how i would dress if i was on monster high'' with iconic lines such gloom beach, skull shore, school's out, etc
Tbh the main reason I loved/still love Monster High and Ever after High are that they have really good story building, I was never into the gothic sort of style of Monster High but I LOVED the world of it as well as the quality of the dolls and all the different clothes they had
As for the comic book... I haven't read the comics so I can't really say whether or not MH ripped it off. But, "Blank, but in high school" is a pretty popular premise to begin with. Hell, there was even a Scooby Doo movie with that idea in 1988. And if you're giving them pun names, Frankie Stein and Cleo are pretty obvious choices. (Clone High has its Cleopatra character go by Cleo) This could very easily be a coincidence. If two stories have the same basic premise, similarities are inevitable.
I see myself in Cupid. First I started off at a school (in this case Cupid was sent to monster high by her father) then after two years there I moved away leaving my friends (Cupid moved to ever after high) and I miss my friends back at that school while continuously making new friends (because Cupid still misses the ghouls at monster high but thinks she’s fit in ever after). I don’t know if that makes sense but it makes perfect sense to me.
Their uniqueness and style spoke to me when I was really little. When I was i think 6/7, I went to comic con dressed as Frankie because she was a character that spoke leadership, kindness, and clawsome fashion(and I still won't forget how 2 girls wanted pics of me for how scary cute I looked). I can't wait until they come back, MH is something I literally grew up with and I can't wait for younger ghouls to grow up with it too
This is exactly why I have always and will ALWAYS love this franchise! Because of their story lines and beautifully written characters and don't forget about the HUMOR! I've always thought that they had such amazing jokes in their series and movies!
The major problem was no articulation yes. But I do have to say, I love Claudine with hair on her arms and legs. It just makes her feel more like a real werewolf. What do you think of Clawdeen reboot with hair
Since mattel trademarked ghouls night out do yall think they are going to take old lines and redesign them for modern fashion this would fit the notion of building of old mh fans and if true a smart taktik keeping old fans and new fans together what do you think?
I was like 7.... 2011 when I first saw monster high doll on a store but I was stood there for minutes staring at them I want to hug them for real like its so cool even though I don't know them because we dont have an internet or gadget so what I do is I read the back of the box for minutes . So..... I introduce them to my classmates and they really like it. Because of their uniqueness I felt inlove with it and THE FASHION IS SO MUCH BETTER and the quality is so good . sadly I only own 2 dolls with my own hardwork because my parents are really dont want to spend money on toys.
the reason me & my cousins loved it so much when we were little is because of the small details like the folklore behind everything like you could really tell they did their research it just made it all so much better like on how their character descriptions where it said their birthdays and stuff they liked and disliked were actually related to whatever monster they were or their cultures and where said monster originated from, i think that’s sooooo cool!
I hope this makes Ever After High come back too. Ever After High was just as Monster High and i just hope they soon start off where they left off and makes that crossover too. Those two are too good!!
I believe that their strenght is the innovation: they were (still are) very different from all the previous characters, and behind their faces of monsters they have a sweet heart and an appeal which impassioned many followers (included me, that have three of them and watched all their movies).
Doll customizers love them too! They have some of the best body molds around! High quality but also lots of diversity! I love watching people transform these already amazing dolls into something new!
I'll never forget how excited I was when I first saw the monster high music video on youtube. Even tho I was definitely considered too old for that kinda thing lol
i found you from snapchat and you seemed super familiar... then i went through your doll review playlist and sure enough i remember watching you all those years ago!! so glad i found you again, your videos were my childhood and i'm looking forward to reliving it with the reboot and your channel!
I missed out on Monster High when it first came out. My nieces had outgrown dolls during this time period ( a hobby that we shared together) so I stopped looking in the doll section. Melissa from My World rekindled my passion for doll collecting (also how I found your and Doll Circles youtubes) I have recently started purchasing some of them from Ebay and Mercari. As far as the characters I love, my favorite 2 right now are Ghoulia Yelps and Twyla mostly because I relate to them. PS have to let you know the looks you turn out for your doll reviews are Flawless and amazing.
I didnt know that about Bratz Fashion Pixiez... That’s so upsetting. I was okay with my Yasmin from that line, I was too young to really notice there was much of a difference between the movie and the doll. I would have really really preferred the movie reason!!!
Never were into these dolls growing up, but watching your videos might convince me to buy a doll when they relaunch! Gonna try watching the shows + films - they look so fun!
i was already an adult when those dolls were on market. i began to be interested in Monster High because of doll repaint videos, so more or less when the trend was over. at the beginning i was seeing those dolls only as a good craft material, but i surprised myself reading the bios on the official site. the more i bought dolls for repaint, the more i gained respect for that toy line. i understand why people are so passionate about the ghouls.
After seeing the animation from the first commercial i felt like they should've made a movie off of it. But the quality from the 2010-2014 lines were incredible
Omg i remember the monster high website!! I visited it really often and only had like an hour of screentime that i spent on rewatching the webisodes over and over!
Because they were a doll line for ALL kids. they have cute, fashionable outfits for people that love girly fashion, and unique and bizarre designs for those who love gothic styles and macabre things. While Monster High was not the only thing that helped me, it's probably a big part of why I love my creepy horror-loving self today 💜🖤❤️
I got my Gloom Beach Draculuara for $20 off of eBay because I used to own it as a kid. The one I owned as a kid got messed up and it was my very first Monster High... This doll is usually expensive... It is considered a rare doll... I was very happy when I got it with everything it's supposed to come with... It is almost like brand new... I've seen it get way to expensive and have wanted it again for many years. My parents couldn't afford it but I was lucky enough to find this deal...
The craziest part of remembering monster high in my childhood for me is that I distinctly remember that I didn’t even ask for these dolls, my grandma just saw Frankie in the store thought she was creepy-cute and bought her for me because she was so unique, and then for nine years after that for every single holiday and birthday and Christmas all I asked for and all I got were monster high dolls. They resonated with me so much as a little alternative weirdo, and my family felt the same way, always going out of their way to keep track of my collection and get dolls i didn’t already own!
When I was a kid I loved the dolls but couldn't afford them, now that I have my own money... I still can't afford them bc the prices raised from being discontinued :(
Personally, I remember picking them over Barbies simply because their design was so different, the colors, and the accessories. I still have most of mine, save for a Clawdeen with a howling voice chip. I loved the joints on their limbs, unlike other dolls I'd seen before. I believe my first was a Lagoona, I can't remember the type, I think it was the science one? Probably the main reason she's my favorite....... I may be a little biased, but I think they are so much better than Barbie, or any of the other dolls. I hate the newer Monster High dolls, without the jointed limbs, and with molded clothing... XP
Back when Monster High came out, I was a goth freshman in high school and I absolutely loved the concept of these alternative fashion dolls modeled after the Universal horror monster films. 12 years later, I'm still a goth, and I'm still absolutely in love with Monster High. My favorite character was always Twyla, I really relate to her being shy and introverted but I owned it just like she did. Also they better bring back Howleen, Clawdia, and Clawd, I really didn't like how they were replaced with wolf cubs!
I’m a new collector and I’m 59! I loved these dolls when my girls were younger but they never wanted them. I have about twenty of them. I just got the freaky fusion Frankie Stein in a box in perfect condition. I’m just loving my little collection
The only thing that I'm glad monster high stay with Not representing human ,bcos there will be a lot of karen will said ,"tHis dOLL sHouLd bAnNed bcOs thEir oUtfiT is iNapPropRiAte" And they are monster they can wear anything they want same with human What make monster high so popular: Prob they trendy outfit, their story theme, their unique style my queen is cleo Who yours?
I can get it them being too scary if they were gory or uncanny, but the best way to see if something is too scary for a kid is to ask the kid. If 9 out of 10 kids are cool with it, it'll sell, and that 1 kid is a wet blanket.
I used to have an Astronova doll 🥰 Also thanks for making these videos, because I was bullied for my imperfections, and you reminded me that Monster High calls for acceptance, which I needed. So i don’t think I’m gonna be losing interest in MH anytime soon
I was 20 when these dolls came out so i wasn’t into dolls during that time, but if i was I most likely would have bought them. They are a great spin on monster dolls and very unique and something we’ve never had before. I collect again, but i haven’t gotten these. I hope they do the comeback right

Queen Clawdeena giving the girls entertainment and education and I'm here for it. This really explained SO much
Clawdeena you inspire me. Now I feel its ok to have dolls no matter the age
The og monster high was all about accepting everyone, regardless of their freaky flaws. I loved how they represented so much.
There should be a monster university! Wait- that sounds familiar...
@@TeastainStudios agreed.
The major problem was no articulation yes. But I do have to say, I love Claudine with hair on her arms and legs. It just makes her feel more like a real werewolf. What do you think of Clawdeen reboot with hair
Yes pls that was one of a few changes I liked in reboot
Since mattel trademarked ghouls night out do yall think they are going to take old lines and redesign them for modern fashion this would fit the notion of building of old mh fans and if true a smart taktik keeping old fans and new fans together what do you think?
MONSTER HIGH was the reason why I could finally accepted myself in my own skin. Clawdeen Wolf is one of my role model in life.
Monster High taught us serious topics and it made us feel welcome. It also had way better quality then other dolls.
im actually a bit mad that monster high managed to disappear EXACTLY the years I'll be in high school
I think what I loved most about monster high was it didn't dumb down serious topics. They made it easy to understand and engaging.
I love your monster high content! It's so nostalgic! Please make more monster high videos!
i found you from snapchat and you seemed super familiar... then i went through your doll review playlist and sure enough i remember watching you all those years ago!! so glad i found you again, your videos were my childhood and i'm looking forward to reliving it with the reboot and your channel!
Thank you for putting my photo and upscaled videos in! Great video
Thank you for watching!! 💕 You really out here doing the community proud sharing these old commercials
AAAA my mom was so happy when she heard that Monster High is comming back,i was also ultra happy!
If you see this I hope you have a great day, love you claw
Never were into these dolls growing up, but watching your videos might convince me to buy a doll when they relaunch! Gonna try watching the shows + films - they look so fun!
IT'S COMMON SENSE WHY MONSTER HIGH IS SO POPULAR
3:18 I used to be obsessed with that Bratz game😭😭
the bratz game at 3:18 was my all time favorite omg 😩😩😩
GURL I AM SO HAPPY YOU MADE THIS YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS VUT EAPECIALLY YOUR MONSTER HIGH VIDEOS 😭❤️
I LITTERALY can not WAAAAIT for the monster high dolls to comeback. Also Bratz!!! SQUEEEEEE!!!! Love u Clawdeena u inspire me so much(:
i was already an adult when those dolls were on market. i began to be interested in Monster High because of doll repaint videos, so more or less when the trend was over. at the beginning i was seeing those dolls only as a good craft material, but i surprised myself reading the bios on the official site. the more i bought dolls for repaint, the more i gained respect for that toy line. i understand why people are so passionate about the ghouls.
The monster high 3D animation is amazing
Monster high is litterally is the most iconic doll in the universe
I hope monster high comes back strong and I hope they bring back the old style and dolls fingers crossed 🤞😭🤞 (I hope ever after high comes back too)
After seeing the animation from the first commercial i felt like they should've made a movie off of it.
I relate to howleen in a way because I’m kinda in my own sisters shadow so she was my number one favorite
I still can't afford them bc the prices raised from being discontinued :(
I just want the dolls already!!! This makes me so happy!
YES CLAWDEENA GETS THAT MONEY FROM A SPONSOR!
Your commentary+dolls is good when someone is trying to eat and chill
Personally, I remember picking them over Barbies simply because their design was so different, the colors, and the accessories. I still have most of mine, save for a Clawdeen with a howling voice chip. I loved the joints on their limbs, unlike other dolls I'd seen before. I believe my first was a Lagoona, I can't remember the type, I think it was the science one? Probably the main reason she's my favorite.......
I may be a little biased, but I think they are so much better than Barbie, or any of the other dolls. I hate the newer Monster High dolls, without the jointed limbs, and with molded clothing... XP
yesss come thru with the longer videos qween!!!!
Kittiesmama lives in my head rent free ever since elementary school lol
I remember freaking out when I first found out about monster high, because I loved monsters (also I fell in love with draculaura)
@12:45 the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Back when Monster High came out, I was a goth freshman in high school and I absolutely loved the concept of these alternative fashion dolls modeled after the Universal horror monster films. 12 years later, I'm still a goth, and I'm still absolutely in love with Monster High. My favorite character was always Twyla, I really relate to her being shy and introverted but I owned it just like she did. Also they better bring back Howleen, Clawdia, and Clawd, I really didn't like how they were replaced with wolf cubs!
I love MH i want them to comeback stronger than ever 🥰
OH MY GHOUL! 4:25! That’s me as Wonder Wolf Clawdeen!
I’m a new collector and I’m 59! I loved these dolls when my girls were younger but they never wanted them. I have about twenty of them. I just got the freaky fusion Frankie Stein in a box in perfect condition. I’m just loving my little collection
The 3D animation is my favourite! But then I watched (actually I still do) these films daily
Unrelated, but Clawdeena I am LOVING your TikToks haha
YASSS SLAY CREATOR OF THE WEEK 💗
The only thing that I'm glad monster high stay with
Not representing human ,bcos there will be a lot of karen will said ,"tHis dOLL sHouLd bAnNed bcOs thEir oUtfiT is iNapPropRiAte"
And they are monster they can wear anything they want same with human
What make monster high so popular:
Prob they trendy outfit, their story theme, their unique style
my queen is cleo
Who yours?
Yay! I love you're vids💕
I’m so excited for the reboot
The catacombs game was my favorite Monster High game on the website!!💕
When I was a kid, all of the girl dolls were my gay awakening.
No I will not explain.
lotta research for a video like this i imagine, thanks for the awesome content as always!!!
I can get it them being too scary if they were gory or uncanny, but the best way to see if something is too scary for a kid is to ask the kid. If 9 out of 10 kids are cool with it, it'll sell, and that 1 kid is a wet blanket.
OMG EARLY ILY QUEEN🖤
I remember reading one of the books and being so confused. Now I know that it’s a different story😭😭
These characters are literally my childhood and what made them special is how different they were from your average barbie
I want so bad for monster highs good quality dolls
I think I had a crush on cleo’s sister- I thought she was pretty lmfao
I’m getting 1 of the 2 only draculaura sweet 1600 dolls still in box on eBay for my birthday. Mine was $142.00
I used to have an Astronova doll 🥰 Also thanks for making these videos, because I was bullied for my imperfections, and you reminded me that Monster High calls for acceptance, which I needed. So i don’t think I’m gonna be losing interest in MH anytime soon
Please do a video like this for older brands, like doll retrospectives! I'd love to hear the story of MyScene in-depth, and other brands too!
I’m so excited to see the new dolls 💜
Can't wait to see the new Monster High dolls❤️
Video idea: a video discussing the doll lines that tried to make monster high less popular (ex. Novi stars)
I mostly loved Monster High because they were unique, had a creepy touch, interesting fashion and moveable limbs!!!
Hi clawdeena I’m getting kala me’ri for Easter I’m excited AF
I was 20 when these dolls came out so i wasn’t into dolls during that time, but if i was I most likely would have bought them. They are a great spin on monster dolls and very unique and something we’ve never had before. I collect again, but i haven’t gotten these. I hope they do the comeback right
