Definitely a black racer, also called a coach whip, and sometimes called a black chicken snake because they will get in a hen house to eat eggs. Whille both the Eastern Indigo and the racer are black and about the same lengths, the racer is described as "slender" while the indigo is said to be "stout bodied". The white under the chin and really long whip-like tail are also unique to the racer. By weight, the Eastern Indigo is the largest native snake in the United States.
Probably a black racer - they are matte black. Black rat snakes are glossier and have a slight pattern on their backs. Either way, they are great for rodent control! Thanks for not freaking and killing him! I love them and have kept them as pets.

Butterflies are "ch*t eaters" yup. They never pass up a pile. Best gathering I ever saw, was on a trail off the road to Cades Cove, Tn. Someone apparently needed facilities, took advantage of solace, and left some "sign." Approaching, a great gathering that would have done Dolly Parton proud, we're butterflies a-fluttering. The beauty of the moment, was occluded by the t.p., as the distance closed. The wonders of nature. The snake was a black snake, good for the environment. Those that are really big, are blue indigo's. Stepped near and spooked a ten footer quail hunting long ago. They move so wildly and fast, no shotgun could be brought to bear even if you wanted to, but you don't. A wide wedge shaped head of the pit vipers, tell you to keep your distance. In Ms., copperheads, rattlesnakes and moccasins. Add coral snakes for Florida. Red touch yellow, kill a fellow. Neumatic crutches git er'did.
I like to fish and hunt and if I had to deal with venomous snakes it kinda puts a damper on things. Winter sucks but it kills most of the nasty things. And they're ambush predators too. Just hiding in the shadows waiting for a mouse... or my hunting boot.
I bet there's at least 8 or 9 more hogs left on that property. Might take 2 or 3 nights, but the Yawt will get em!!! Be safe and see ya on the next video!!!

God told the children of Israel in Leviticus, if you desire meat from land animals to only eat four legged animals with split hooves and that chew their cud. All four legged animals that have split hooves chew their cud, with the pig as being the ONLY exception.

The snake is smart. He knows he can come there now...... Cause the hogs are gone! Hogs love to eat snakes, or people. With some there aint much difference! Wish you could take a semi full of hogs to Washington. The hogs would love to clean out that place!!!
I don't believe it is a black racer. A black racer generally has a yellow or orange ring around its neck. At least, that is what we always thought in WV. Your snake looks to be just a black snake.
