"Your behavior is ridiculous. Stop playing detective and start TENDING TO THE SICK." hit me like a truck the first time I heard it. Even though I know as a player that following weird plot threads and folklore are the ways to find a cure, from an outside perspective Burkah must look like he's spending the bare minimum of time acting like an actual doctor. Dankovsky and Rubin are constantly elbow-deep in the hospital and developing medicine while the player is trading marbles to kids and faffing around out in the steppe.
I didn't understand dankovsky before covid. But seeing people ignore facts, spread misinformation, dogpile for power. It makes me really get the bachelor, and honestly, if I were given the choice I might choose the same ending daniil did.
I still remember when I played 1st Pathologic as a Bachelor. Just like Bachelor, I started to hate the Town and everyone living in it. Then I played as Artemy and started to care about the Termites and Town overall. That feeling of caring was even higher on Pathologic 2. I hope they manage to invoke that frustration in Bachelor P2 campaign.
Interesting, I started to really dislike the Bachelor a ways into his story so the Haruspex felt much more natural to me - like for once I could express myself in dialogue through that character instead of watching what reckless shit they say in horror
@@StormXTS Bachelor has very fitting responses which fit for player, like they are more like "wtf are you talking about?" Artemy don't get such luxury being a local. But as an Artemy and Clara, you have more gameplay stuff going on, with herbs/organs and healing, while Bachelor gets boring plaque scope.
Daniil is an asshole... but he's tired just like us... As the plague progresses you can see how he reacts to the same hardships Artemy has to go through
While I don't think it's necessarily bad to pronounce a word in its original pronunciation, it fucking kills me that the prickly prick goes out of his way to say "ahbahttoiR" like the VA understood the assignment
@@lilacpen8678 I imagine some people (Americans in particular) would pronounce the last syllable simply as 'tor' while fully voicing the R. However, many English speakers do actually pronounce it "properly" since French words are so prevalent in the language and the original pronunciations stick around.
I never saw Eva and Danill as romantic in p1 so I'm hoping if they are in p2 it's written better, or that he just meant that he never said he did care about her in general. There's also the theory though that he could be talking about Thanatica and personifying his life's work- which just got destroyed.
You know.. as a DC comics fan… I can’t avoid but notice that he sounds like The Riddler… If the riddler was taken seriously, and lost his animated demeanor. They both seem to have very similar perspectives on science, logic and the human mind, you know, if you also ignore Riddler’s impulsivity to do harm in comparison with Daniil actually doing this job as a doctor
He talks with such a cadence of bemusement. Annoyed at times, yes, but with an air that speaks to his lack of care outside of his practice being an art. Simple but effective performance.
if people insist daniil's a prick and nothing else even after COVID and especially after having witnessed the kind of idiocy and ignorance doctors and nurses have to deal with in general then i have nothing left to say tbh
I know it's certainly possible to do; the way assets are archived are similar between The Void and Pathologic Classic (I guess they both operate off of the same engine). I'd presume however that much of the dialogue from Classic would be the same as the dialogue from P2, making it redundant. If this isn't the case however I'd look into doing it sometime in December maybe.
@@sumsarem For Pathologic 2 I used the Unity Assets Bundle Extractor; for The Void (and presumably Pathologic Classic, since both archive in VFS format) I used QuickBMS.
There are also plenty of lines that other characters repeat throughout the game, though. I don’t think it’s unintentional. Like how many of the kids say “I’ll take you to your end, tend, rend, mend” and “Rough as dutch, safe to touch, smooth as bone, leave it alone”, or how Notkin and Grief both have that poem in their lines. :)
the Kains as part of the Utopians faction are the townspeople most closely related to the Bachelor's worldview in the first place, hence why if you let any of them die in the original game as the bachelor you are locked out of his ending

The marble nest DLC did a really good job at that imo, I got very frustrated by many people’s ignorance
