Hey Jeff. Thank you so much for your comment. I really love teaching and/or sharing knowledge. I was fortunate to have a lot guitar players over the years take the time help me. It meant a lot when someone patiently walked me through various guitar learning. I havent forgot it 🙂. Thanks again.
Chris, THANK you so much for giving this detailed lesson, the VERY BEST lesson for Hard Luck Woman on the entire UA-cam channel!... I only wish that you had put the camera closer to your guitar... We wouldn't be able to see the nice room you're in, but it would be closer to your hands and Easier to see what you're Doing.. Although, thankfully you gave a pretty good description of most of it... Again, GREAT JOB!... I WISH YOU could give LESSONS, to Everyone Else who tries to GIVE a lesson, on UA-cam!... Mike, long time guitarist
Hey Mike. Thank you so much man. I really really appreciate your kind words. I film all my videos now with up close shots of the fretboard. It does make it a lot easier to learn that way. Thanks again my friend.

Thanks so much Thomas for checking out my video and commenting. Feel free to make requests for other hard rock/heavy metal lessons you would like to see.
Excellent tutorial! The arrangement is perfect, out tribute band D2K will be doing your version this Saturday at O'Hara's in Lake Elsinore. Single guitar most likely as Paul and Gene could us a break
That's a G Major played the 3rd position. So if you know the full bar chord for G Major across all 6 strings, just take away the low E and A strings. 5th fret D, 4th fret G, and 3rd fret B and high E string.
Hey William. Yes, I did cover the 2nd verse. It's the same as the MTV unplugged arrangement. At 17:30 mark in the video I play the entire song if that helps. Thanks.
@@ChristopherCox With all due respect, that is incorrect. That is not the way it's played on Unplugged. However, the part I reference is in the Unplugged version, and pretty much every other version, back to the original studio recording. At the end of the first chorus, they do not do the little lick which ends back on the C chord, because the C changes abruptly to the Dm. The passage is "You'll be a [F]Hard [Am]Luck [Dm]Woman...[F]Baby til you [G]find your [C]man(2-3-4-) [Dm]Before I [G]go let me [Dm]kiss you, etc etc..."...then everything else you played is the same. That's the only time the chords in the chorus differ. Here's a pretty good closeup of Paul playing the part I reference, and he is clearly seen playing the chords as I outlined, which came from the original sheet music. :) ua-cam.com/video/XsV0b-YTUNM/v-deo.htmlm25s It's a subtle thing, but it's there, although it is often overlooked.
@@WilliamT1964 Ok I think I know what section you're talking about now. On the Unplugged version the turn-around guitar lick that's played before the transition to D minor (just before the 2nd verse) ends on an open D note. The same turn around lick is played in the chorus. I felt like this did not work well with a single guitar. So I transposed this part. Sorry for the confusion. I appreciate the questions. No offense taken at all.
@@WilliamT1964 I spend a lot time & thought putting these lessons together, and I try to stay as true to the song as possible. I realize there's probably more than 1 part that's not exactly how Kiss plays the song. This is a labor love for me doing the Kiss guitar lessons. The beautiful thing about music is sometimes it's up the interpretation of the individual . I have worked on certain songs for years and will discover new parts or subtleties that I might not have heard before. Again, I transposed certain parts for a single guitar arrangement because I felt it flowed better.
@@janvare Hey Jani. I think you might be talking about the D minor chord? It's an open D string, 2nd fret of the G string, 3rd fret of the D string, and 1st fret of the high E string. Thanks
I wonder how Paul handled Rod Stewart rejecting this song. Growing up this was the only KISS song my dad liked. At 1st he thought it was the band Smokie and wasnt thrilled to learn it was those weirdos plastered all over his sons bedroom walls. haha
@@ChristopherCox Your arrangement for the song is the best I’ve heard. It sounds great. But for a beginner like myself, it’s difficult to keep up. I had a hard time distinguishing between your referencing of strings or notes. When you say “D” sometimes you mean the note and other times, the string. For example on most tutorial videos, the instructor would reference “the 3rd fret on the A string”. Perhaps your intention was to target intermediate to advanced players in this video.
@@soaringeagle5227 Thanks so much. I understand. I would say you're correct in saying this lesson was more for an intermediate player. However, I can make a couple of recommendations. I would focus on switching from chord to chord 1st vs. playing the melodies inside the chords. Once you switch from chord to chord and keep in time, then take on the melodies in little pieces at a time. This is a challenging tune even for an intermediate player. My old guitar teacher used to suggests this to me and I still use it today. Take it 1 bar at a time.
@@soaringeagle5227 I'm actually going to be starting a Patreon page soon, and will include more beginner guitar-type videos. Hopefully, it will be up and running in April.
Hang in there with it Mike. Sometimes I take a break from a difficult song and revisit it a week or 2 later with fresh hands and ears. It can get frustrating if we spend too much time on a song. Also, try to identify the areas you're having the most difficulty with and slowly work out those parts instead of tackling the entire song at once. Take care my friend.
Patient, quite methodical, easy to understand, follow and grasp Technic. Exactly what a music learning UA-cam video should be. Thx...

E flat or in kiss' case "kiss standard"

do you have the tabs for it? great lesson, but I don't speak English to get that fast
I'm sorry I don't have any tabs.
Great tutorial thank you. Beginner here. What is that chord you're playing at 3:55? Can you give finger positions?
That's a G Major played the 3rd position. So if you know the full bar chord for G Major across all 6 strings, just take away the low E and A strings. 5th fret D, 4th fret G, and 3rd fret B and high E string.
wich strings do you pick at the little lick at 3:40? and how do you play those C, F and G major chords?
The B and G strings are played as the transition lick before the C Major chord
Great video! Question though. What is the strumming pattern on the 2 bridges?
Thanks Richard. Are talking about the repeat of the intro riff at the end? If so, it's a down up, down up I believe.
@@ChristopherCox no. You have the F major, C major, D minor chords which repeat then end with a G major. I'm just not clear on the strumming there.
Is this tuned a half step down?
Yes, E flat
Did you cover the part where it doesn't resolve back to the C, going into "Before I go, let me kiss you"?
