    I used to take the plate off my varistor to derestrict it. The plate stops the full expansion of the cage. 👍👍

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  2 роки тому +2

      I always thought that if you tool the plate off you were to shim behind anyway so the belt was still running straight?
      Thats what I've always done.

    • @MaNNeRz91
      @MaNNeRz91 2 роки тому +1

      @@motorcyclerescuer I never did any shimming back in the day and never had any issues with it. I don't think the varistor actually sits out any further but it allows full movement of the pulley so the belt should use more of the pulley when it closes up. You can still shim it if you want. It will either make it slip the belt or it will make the front pulley smaller for better idle/pulling away

      He added £50 to the agreed price which was annoying and then ignored me for a while even though I had visited and saw the bike a couple of hours before.

    • @MaNNeRz91
      @MaNNeRz91 2 роки тому +2

      Pretty simple system really. Front pulley adjusts according to engine torque and speed by spinning enough to push the weight of the rollers outwards and pull the pulley gap closer together. That makes the belt travel to the wider edge essentially changing gear. And when that happens the rear pulley opens up making the belt run lower keeping a balance in gearing.
      The width and length of the belt can alter the idling/pulling away gear ratio And top end.
      Different weight rollers effect how long it stays in the 'pulling away' gear. So lighter rollers will cause revving out as if you were staying in 1st or 2nd gear longer.
      Heavier rollers will be like changing into 5th at 1400rpm...
      There's also a spring in the rear pulley that effects how it changes down during deceleration and how long it holds the rollers back by restricting the belt travel to the outside edge. 👌 Simple see

  • @rileyburton6218

    The rubber mounts on mine fell out and that’s what ruined the rollers, didn’t think I needed them and the new rollers were awful after 3 rides.

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  2 роки тому +1

      They would only ruin the rollers by falling into them and mashing around in there. They are only to minimise rattle really over all.
      Luckily I've got a set with the rollers. Also got some brand new side panels for rhe bike.
      Cheers Riley

    I think it’s a fantastic little scooter, make someone very happy. If I was on it I think it would do about 15mph tops, 6ft 2inch and 23 stone doesn’t half slow the buggers down lol, too many pork pies I’m afraid to say lol. I saw a 250 vespa GTS today which was pulling at me but I’ve no more space, and at the front of the bungalow would be too much temptation for the little tinker’s round here. I’ve looked on eBay Charlie and it’s not showing mother’s from any uk sellers, only USA don’t know if I’m not doing it correctly? Or did you send to America for your tub? I’ll leave it unless you can send a link if you get time, I know with work and garage you are took up. I don’t know how you do it Mr Man.

      @davidcarroll2035 2 роки тому +1

      I’ve ordered the mother’s thanks for the link, I don’t know why I didn’t get the list your search produced, I’m no good at using eBay it would seem. As to the Vespa, and the 250 I saw but won’t proceed with, because I don’t have anymore room to keep one plus the 250 was very cheap because it was bodily very tatty looks like someone had problems keeping upright on it. I enjoyed doing my Vespa PX 200efl like I said but that’s in the garage just sat there I’m keeping it because I did it all myself bar for some quality welding of new steel into the frame. Had I done that it would have stayed rough, it’s been around 7 years since I completed it and nothing is coming through because it was new steel where it needed it. But if I had the room a 300 would be great I’ve had two of them before, one of mine was a 2015 model that was red, the first one was a 2007 in yellow, they are fantastic commuter’s, good on fuel and excellent away from lights (compared to cars) and great fun for filtering. May pee’d off car drivers around Nottingham

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  8 місяців тому +1

      It's not that simple I'm afraid. First of all you would need to de restrict the cdi, have you done that yet? I've got a vid that shows you how to.
      Then you ideally would want a better variator in that aims for speed rather then restriction. Once you did them 2 changes you would test different roller weights. The new racing variators normally come with a bunch of weights which is helpful

    • @zakwinn5848
      @zakwinn5848 8 місяців тому +1

      Iv weight the old ones and tried to guess as best but the only other thing iv got is when I ride for a bit it bogs and cuts off iv replaced the carb for a brand new one new fuel filter change the oil still the same any suggestions would you think new battery

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  8 місяців тому +1

      I would suggest re setting the valves first. These have to be done why the bike is cold. So after sitting for a few hours.
      The battery shouldn't make much difference.
      A new coil wouldn't hurt just incase the old is playing up.
      But valve setting would be my next step.

      I wouldn't bother. It's restricted in the ecu so wouldn't matter what you did to it.

      It probably wouldn't be worth it. It's to restricted in its airbox and exhaust to bother doing really.
      For now it's best to de restrict it like you did and put a better variator on.
      Then just wait until you move to a 125cc
