This Land from The Lion King - Live in Brightlingsea, Summer 2024

The Lion King soundtrack is without a doubt one of the greatest film score ever. The seemless combination of traditional African music, with western classical and modern pop is nothing short of sublime and it and those involved in its creation deserve every bit of respect and praise they've received.
This Land is the closest thing to an overture amongst the actual score of the soundtrack, and it would've been easy for it to be overshadowed by the spectacular songs that make up the most famous part of the soundtrack, The fact that the score stands wholly and totally on its own is a testament to its immortal quality.
The Lion King also turned thirty year old this year which is terrifying but on the bright side does give me a good excuse to get some of the music from it in my programmes for the rest of the year so expect to hear plenty more!
While there are some additions of my own to the arrangement, this version is entirely based off of one by the great American UA-cam pianist Kyle Landry. IF you're unfamiliar with him I recommend you check out his work immediately as he's one of the all-time great internet musicians!
