Thank you so much for this video. I never knew the importance of having a Smart Phone Tele Lens until now. Especially with over the shoulder dialogue shots
Dude… THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I’ve been scouring the internet looking for a video going over the BOKEH, DOF, and everything and this video had it all! 100% buying now! Thank you so much man :))
Nice! You're welcome. I used this lens (a lot) in a short film I just shot and it's amazing! Makes everything feel more high end with the extra bokeh and dof. Enjoy!
I just got this lens and it looks super nice but what I think is also really great is that with the regular phone lens if you want to get up close to a persons face it can cause their head to be warped and stretched into looking unflattering but with the tele you get up close with the distortion. It’s actually what professional photographers do to get profile shots.
Agreed. It's an amazing lens! I used it to film almost every shot in my short film (on this channel) Anxiety Train. It adds so much production value too! So many benefits to this lens.
Yes! This is gone with the lens, just got mine. Even at normal distance of a few feet my iPhone really stretches things out unless you get the perspective spot on and even then it's not great. This lens just gives you so much more space to work with and the proportions are what you'd expect. Already loving it, just hope the sharpness is OK but it seems so, so far.
@@mikesrandomchannel when you pair it with the Filmic Pro app (or just an camera app with manual focus) it really helps it get the clearest image possible!
First of all, congratulations for the tutorial. I'm a new subscriber! I have made two short films with a smartphone and Moment anamorphic lens. I am in the project of carrying out a series made with a smartphone and I would like to ask you what notable differences you find between the 1.33 anamorifco lens with the 58 mm and if you consider that it could be good to use both within the same short film, feature film or series and In what contexts would you use one or the other? Thank you in advance!
I'm just watching this, nodding and applying everything you're saying to portrait photos, which I shoot occasionally but enough to warrant a $120 purchase. The point about shadows is also really relevant indoors.
That’s great! Yeah there are so many benefits to this lens. I used it for 90% of my shots in my short film (on this channel) Anxiety Train. It’s definitely worth the money in my opinion.
@@SmartphoneFilmmaker I ordered mine by express and it got here in like 3 days to Germany. Amazing. Only shot off a few pics so far but... OMG the lens distortion on portraiture from the wide angle lens is... GONE. Always a problem since I'm an amateur and have a problem with slight tilt causing long faces and so on with portraits. But it's effectively zeroed by this little lens. Gonna have a lot of fun with this! Thanks again for your feature on it and best of luck with your films, I must also check them out.
I have an iPhone 13 Pro and need to increase the 3x zoom in the phone to 6x to take pictures far away from the subject. I was thinking of getting this lens. You mention that it is not recommended to use it because the lens will distorsion the image. Do you think is so bad that it's not worth it or I could give it a chance because I can't find another way to get closer to the subject.
I believe the Moment 58mm lens over the native wide give a cleaner image over the 3x tele lens on its own. If you search Moment 58mm tele lens Moment themselves have a really good video demonstrating how the lens works with the 13/14pro models.
Have you ever tried some longer ones ? I’m trying to get 200-300mm equivalent but haven’t found anything usable, do you have some suggestions? Thank you 😊
I've been using the Moment 58mm ( and the discontinued 60mm before that) to increase my reach by putting it over the Telephoto lens on my iPhone. Worked GREAT on my 8+ and 11 Pro Max - but not so on my new 13 Pro Max. For some reason it isn't compatible with the new set-up and results in a very noticeably soft image.
Yeah, I watched a Moment video where they showed their various lenses over each of the built in iphone 13 lenses and had the same results with the tele. I believe the iphone 13 tele is 3X rather than 2X which maybe a bit too much with the external tele lens now. Such a shame because you'd think it would look amazing.
Great insightful video on the benefits of adding a Tele lens to your smartphone. One question though: iPhone lenses, when shooting directly at the light, produce weird reflective flares in the image. Does the Tele lens help in eliminating them? Any tips to overcome this problem?
Thank you! Unfortunately there's no real way to stop the lens flares. You can move the angle to the light to hide it but the Tele lens won't help with that.

Thank you! Yeah neither did I fully appreciate how useful they can be until I got one. Really fun to use too!

I really like your channel and how you present. Well done.
Thank you! It's very useful to know it's all coming across well.

I would definitely suggest emailing Moment and asking them to be sure it will work. They are very responsible and will know every tech aspect. 👍🏻
Hey, Could you please explain the advantages of 58mm over the native 3x tele lens on iPhone 13 Pro/ 14 Pro? Thank you!

I haven’t actually. They tend to have significantly poorer image quality for filming although they could be good for hobby use.

Hi, What iPhone models is the moment telephoto lens compatible with?
It's meant to be compatible with all phones however some people have had issues with vignetting on their iphone 13/14.
@@SmartphoneFilmmaker thank you for answering
You have me digging out my lenses. Lol. I found 2 55mm and a 65mm. I'm ready
Haha. This is definitely my favourite lens!

@@SmartphoneFilmmaker I see. Oh well, thanks for the response. Looking forward to more from you and your channel! Keep it up!
where are they made? Looks nice
Yeah the quality is very high. I believe the glass is made in Hong Kong and the rest in China.
Amazing 🤩
Thank you! : )
Nice
Thanks!
