- Ouroboros King Part 5 - Ouroboros King is back! It's a chess roguelike with dozens of new pieces and the ability to upgrade some of them. Now with a ton of new complicated pieces, the game is a lot harder. Starting with the first boss fight, this game becomes a real challenge now. Enjoy!

It would be cool if you could make custom pieces, similar to making cards in Act 3 of Inscryption.

@@chaosstripe9446i’m not a gamedev, but if I were to balance it I would have a max number of squares that can be hit by the piece. though this game has the concept of different movement and attack patterns which makes it more complicated
that would be pretty hard to make
@@johnhancock4203 personally I think it could work similar to the Project Zomboid system.
Different Basic class starts with different amount of points - you can pay points for other abilities and movements.
Negative traits add more points,
As you level up, you can gain more, abilities.
But the maximum power should be worth less than top 10% of all preset pieces at that level
I would like to say that bladedancer will never get old. Watching them dance around, wiping out an entire board in a satisfying chain will never not be awesome to watch

I think nuking the reapers at the start of every game made them much worse, they basically guaranteed the opponent had to play a guarded move every time if they were still around
If you get 2 reaper on different color you definitely shouldn’t trade them. Every square are under pressure and you can double down on a color just by moving one of them. I can imagine them combo very well with pins.
@@user-ti4di1uh2dThe only problem is Tabitha, as it isn't explained if she CAN copy the attack range of units such as the Reaper, or unique attack gimmicks of pieces like all Assassin variants, & the Musketeer. The only explanation is that Tabitha CAN'T go anywhere like the Portal Mage.

Tyler i played the new update and there is a relic i think you should try and use for a run of the game. The carnival mask, It's an amazing relic that completely changes the game and without giving to many spoilers that run will be pure chaos.
can you tell me what it does i cant get it on steam and you can just press enter a bunch to hide it under show more i cant find anything about it so i ask you
@@Goldenroses930 It randomizes all of the pieces every time they move so you can't strategize about what your pieces are. it doesn't work on the kings, but your pieces can randomize into the witches and their witches randomize as well. Also if you've seen his most recent Ouroboros king video it can also randomize pieces into the egg so they become useless.

Nice! I grabbed the Demo because I like Chess and I like the idea of making it a roguelike but the original game was pretty dry. 20 new pieces is a huge upside. I think I'm still gonna wait a bit, part of me hates the font....

The fact that some of the best martial tactics roguelikes that have ever come out are both chess-like games is really funny. It isn't a super popular category, but still!

I seem to remember that in the final fight they had an item which meant they won if his only piece was his king, and they had other pieces. So if it was just his king and a witch (and their king, obviously) they’d still win
The note at 24:42 is actually simply incorrect (if I understand correctly) since the queens can't actually attack Tyler's king
Well it's kinda awkward since she would still have to keep the extra attack from the blade dancer even when killing it, but then she could easily kill the king

8:13 the immortal doesn't trap you here, black would either block with the immortal, or move the king, if the immortal does what we see here the royal guard just takes the king.

If enemy has fool its a bit problem but probably thes cant have fool and the relic (king moves relic) in the same time

If you like chess games and want new pieces, then I must recommend chesscraft! It has both a story mode with a full map, using custom pieces already made and you can choose which side to play on. And you need to play against an ai which you can set the difficulty for. The higher the difficulty the higher the points you get, and you can get both black and white points depending on what side you play on. When you have enough points so can you unlock entirely different areas. You can also unlock new skins and board layouts via the story mode. You can then make your very own pieces and boards, and you can fight against another person or an ai or even ai vs ai. When you make your own custom pieces so can you choose how it moves, attacks and all of the abilities from the story modes.
The reason killing all non-king units is a win is the finisher relic ;)

Watching this I almost feel like you'd want 2 reapers on the same color instead of separate. That way they can protect each other except from king or witch. Making the ai really be careful about trades. Also double threatening a single color seriously limits the movement enemy pieces have.
