Atlixco looks awesome. Sometimes you dont see gueros at those towns because they dont even know those towns exist. Most of the travelers thinks Mexico is all about Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Mexico city. But thanks to you guys the picture of Mexico is growing and you guys are AWESOME
@Repueblica Poblana Also San Andres Cholula is home of the Universidad de las Américas Puebla and there are a lot of exchange students from lots of places, mostly the US.
I feel like I see a decent amount of gringos in Cholula when I visit once a year. They are considered gringos, not gueros. Gueros are light hair light skinned Mexicans that are from Mexico, anyone who is from America is basically considered a gringo even if you speak Spanish and it’s your only language.
Did you know you can turn on captions/subtitles by clicking the gear icon of our videos? Lately, we've been adding subtitles in more languages. You can watch our most recent videos with subtitles in English, Spanish, Russian, German, or French. Would you like to see any other languages added?
@John Palacios Well, we manually put captions in English. And we try to write them in a way that they're both accurate but at the same time will easily translate into other languages. On the backend, we have an automated service that will translate them into other languages (it probably uses a google-translate type of deal.) For our Spanish captions, we try to clean the automated translation up a little bit, but it's usually a good translation. For the other languages that we don't know, we rely 100% on the automated translation. Fortunately, they're usually pretty good if the English captions are written well. And for any mistakes that may happen, we have it set up so anyone can submit translation edits.
Hi guys! Liked your video but think maybe you are not giving yourselves the chance to explore more the towns you are visiting. It looks like you missed some of the most remarkable, colorful, awesome churches in the entire country: the church of San Francisco Acatepec, the church of Santa Maria Tonantzintla and the ex covent of San Gabriel Arcangel. They are all located in Cholula. If you liked the little church on top of Cholular´s pyramid, these churches will blow your mind up! Atlixco is a pretty manicured pueblo magico, but from a cultural architectural standpoint, I prefer Cholula. I visited Atlixco during the "festival of the flowers" and it was lovely. Several streets of the historic district were full of all kinds of flowers, which are produce there. Yeah, prices in Cholula are lower than in Puebla because it is a university town and thousands of university students live there. Because in the past there have been many robberies inside churches located in Puebla, it is now forbidden to make photos or film inside churches that house Colonial art treasures. The dolls Maddie liked do not have a name actually. Sometimes we call them "Maria" dolls but they have no official name. I highly recommend that you visit the historic center of Tlaxcala city, which is only 1 north Puebla. Downtown Tlaxcala is charming. It has some of the most ancient Colonial constructions in all the country, like the first bull ring plaza. The Colonial architecture there is really beautiful, local food is good and tasty and prices are affordable. Downtown Tlaxcala is smaller than Puebla´s so you can easily visit the most important sites in half a day. Both, Puebla and Tlaxcala are full of gorgeous haciendas which are open to tourists. If you are curious to learn how life was in a century-old hacienda (Mexican plantation), I recommend you check out the haciendas there. Wish you good luck!!
You guys are so lucky... Thank you for all the information you bring... I look forward to visiting some of the places you guys have toured... I think you guys are so awesome because of your humility and simplicity... may God richly bless and protect you
I loved this video...! I liked the new addition of the tour of the place you stayed in. You really highlight the beauty of the places you visit. Keep exploring thx to you i get to learn a bit more of mexico im not able to explore.
When we lived in Mexico, we were thinking about leaving Guanajuato because we wanted to experienced other places and since my partner's job and mine as well, were somehow flexible, we could actually live wherever we wanted and we thought about Cholula, but then everything changed and we moved to the US. Hey guys I’m from Atlixco. And I’m so happy that you guys visited. There’s so much to see around there. And it would’ve been great if you guys discovered the other side of atlixco such as the mercado where all the traditional food resides. I felt that you guys walked the wrong way where there was not much to see but I know that Atlixco treated you well. And I am happy that you guys enjoyed it. I love your videos.
Thanks for the video - enjoyed Cholula a lot when we were there last summer. Went to the top of the pyramid as well and through the middle of it too. The tourist train from Puebla is a fun way to get there.
A tip... Before climbing Cholula's pyramid, you should check first the "museo de sitio", just crossing the street from the basemet of the pyramis entrance . It is a very small (2 small rooms) museum where you can see a model of the Pyramid and check some data. Then you cross the street and go through the tunels, it gas a cost if you get a guide,is recommended for the first time visit. Then you climb. Near Cholula, about 10 km South you shouldn't miss Tonantzintla Church, is a gorgeus colorful church decorated by the indigenous since colonial times. Love and greetings Justin and Maddie, keep enjoying Mexico! 😊

I think your videos are very dynamic and I have a lot of fun watching them. I will go with my girlfriend to Puebla and we will detour to Atlixco and Cholula, we will follow her advice. Cheers
oh my gosh!, went to the pyramid of cholula and did not enter the tunnels that cross the entire pyramid? and in my opinion between cholula and atlixco Atlixco wins but as always I think it in puebla for magic towns nothing like the northern mountains such as Zacatlan of the apples and its valley of over stones and the beautiful waterfall of the quetzalapa waterfall or the unique Cuetzalan with its large number of waterfalls, rivers and routes as well as its beautiful architecture really if they could go they would have a great time they have much to offer both in architecture and in nature the bad things are a bit far from people, greetings Tangerine @Travels from amozoc puebla
I lived in Cholula, many years ago (Calle 8 Poniente #302), but I also visited Atlixco many times on my weekend commutes over to Cuernavaca. I think Atlixco is much more charming than Cholula. Cholula is very ancient -- it had mostly dirt streets when I lived there -- but I think Atlixco has some wonderful architecture. Further south (on the route to Cuernavaca) is Izucar de Matamoros, which I used to love because it's more tropical and located in sugar cane country. So much to see and do in that region, with views of the volcano Popocatepetl from nearly everywhere!
Thanks for the perspective - it's nice to hear from someone who has lived there. We didn't get to spend a lot of time in either city so it's hard for us to fairly judge each place other than giving our first impressions.
Omg I was at atlixco not to long ago about a week in half love it there my parents live close by there like 30 minutes and we go to atlixco to shop a lot it's a beautiful town
Where do you guys find the music for your videos? It always sounds soooo appropriate and fitting for the environs you're in. By the way, my other half and I are considering relocation but Ajijic seems to be pricing themselves into an overinflated market. Can you suggest one or two up and coming towns/cities in Mexico that might be the next Expat destination ? Keep up the good work you two. We love your work.
Atlixco is very beutiful any time of the year. It is the town of flowers and always is decorated according to the time of the year with live flowers. There are many garden shops and garden centres around (viveros) that are experience of their own.
It would be awesome if y’all went to Acatic ,Jalisco there is awesome hot water spring pools and a really cool waterfall called velo de novias. It’s called Barranca de Támara. Also there are other small towns not even an hour away like Tepatitlan de Morelos or Santa Ana de Guadalupe. They are around 1 and a half hours from Guadalajara.
You HAVE to go to Capilla del Rosario (Rosario Chapel) it´s a true jewel of barroque art and arquitecture!!! believe me it´s unique!! its in Centro de Puebla, you actually walked outside in your video from Puebla... don´t miss it!!!
You both and that awesome Husky i had a female one in Las Vegas name Princess they are so special those Huskies yours is beautiful thank you for the videos you both are such an awesome couple beautiful Mexico is all magico.
Great video. I love Chalula- spend a month there a few years ago in a hotel very near the central square. I believe that portico ( @ 6:10 ) is supposed to be the longest in Mexico. I felt very safe in Chalula- a very traditional Mexican town with friendly locals, lots to see and yes, lots of car horns honking. A great side trip is to the base of the volcano ( Popo ) where you see many UFO/Alien sighting locations- supposed to be very active with UFO's.
You have to go "Capilla del rosario" in Puebla, the best place!! Please don't forget that please! You are so close to this place, please take advantage of that
Actually we found the place today on our own. For those interested the address is: Av. Morelos No. 203 [entre 2 y 4 Norte], San Pedro Cholula, Pue. C.P. 72760 Sorry we didn't cross paths. PS we are in Cholula another month if you want to chat with some like minded fans from Canada.
did you go to san andres cholula?? it's literally 15 min walkin from san pedro´s centro del centro, it´s the college zone, a lot of bars, pubs, antros and really good restaurants
Hey, in this video you wondered about the "Mexican doll you see every where". While they are very popular throughout México, they are originally from Amealco, so their official name is Amelaco's Handcrafted Dalls and now they are recognized as cultural heritage of that place. FYI, Amealco is a little town in the Mexico's central state of Querétaro, which capital city is also calle Querétaro. If you haven't been in Querétaro I highly recommend you to visit that city along with the surrounding towns, you will love it, I guarantee it
Querétaro is one of the few states we haven't driven through, let alone spent time in. It'll happen sometime in the future, I'm sure, but we don't know when. Thanks for the info and recommendation. I see that this is your first comment on our channel. If you're new here, welcome! We'd love for you to see our Mexico story from the beginning: ua-cam.com/video/3EvA2FFbaI0/v-deo.html
Although this is the first time I write you I have followed you since some weeks and watched a lot of your videos, what a great experience. I'm glad you are enjoying my beautiful country, keep on that! It is interesting how foreigners see or think about places I have been in.
You went to Teotihuacan and that is all the video we get of it? I was so excited to see you were there and was hoping to see much more of it because I used to live there and I wanted a nice trip down memory lane.
Unfortunately there were just SOOO many people the day we went there, we couldn’t even get on the pyramid of the sun without waiting 3 hrs. Due to the travel schedule our friend made for that trip, it’s all we could do
It was very common for the Catholic church to build on top of ancient "pagan" sacred sites, for both of these reasons - these pyramids and mounds are built on ley lines and/or underground water rivers that are considered power places, and also it's a sign of dominance over native traditions and religions in those areas.
Atlixco was definitely one of a kind! Wish we could have spent more time there. We definitely need to go back. What's your favorite thing about Atlixco?
May I make a suggestion? First Thank you for posting your videos as they are providing us with a lot of information of where we would like to visit in Mexico. My suggestion - when you add a caption to your video please consider timing how long it takes to read the caption & leave it on for a couple of seconds longer. So many times videos get a caption flashed on the screen & you have to stop the video or replay the portion you missed while reading the caption.
We walked past the tunnels but decided to do other things instead - like window shopping and drinking margaritas. You know, the important stuff. 😂 But now I'm curious to know how extensive the tunnels are!
BTW Have you experienced any elevation sickness? We live at 500 ft above sea level in Canada, but Cholula is at 7200 ft above sea level. What a surprise. We had no idea that we would feel the oxygen deprivation even after almost 2 weeks. If you felt that the walk up the pyramid was tougher than you though - that might be why.
Hope you get to live out your dream as well Rodney! To answer your question - we think it will probably be a long time before we want to leave Mexico, but we would love to see more of the world, starting with other Spanish-speaking countries most likely.
We saw bits and pieces of the festival, but unfortunately we couldn't stay as late as we wanted to. Is the whole thing "villa iluminada" or is there a special ceremony or something?
What do you call corn in a cup in your city?

I want to visit Mexico again soon! Was there in November, but not nearly long enough!
I live in utah but that is my birth place. I always take my friends there when they visit me .. what a video! Thank you guys! You got a new subscriber!
Great video you two...
Glad you stuck around, the light show was very pretty.
The wifey & I would love to meet up with 'ya when we decide to move down there. That is if your still down there by that time... Keep up the great work of sharing you two's life adventure of traveling! Have fun & stay safe.
Love the video. Beautiful. Love the Colors. Festival Of Lights looks so Fun. My husband laughed at the" I Just like looking." remark because that's what I do only Gramma style. The BNB looks really cool, Especially balcony . sorryJust not leather store because we're Vegan
The lights are nice but don't miss the week before Dia de Muertos. Atlixco is known for it's flowers. It's an amazing thing to see.
Hey cool I live in Atlixco and the light festivel Is done setting up so its cooler,
I lived in Cholula, many years ago (Calle 8 Poniente #302), but I also visited Atlixco many times on my weekend commutes over to Cuernavaca.
Michael check on Real del Monte in the State of Hidalgo.. Might be the perfect choice..
Holy moly I think I saw you guys 😢 I should have said hi, but I didn't want to interrupt you guys
You HAVE to go to Capilla del Rosario (Rosario Chapel) it´s a true jewel of barroque art and arquitecture!!! believe me it´s unique!! its in Centro de Puebla, you actually walked outside in your video from Puebla... don´t miss it!!!
Did you guys notice/see the recycling bins @11:09 In Atlixco? Looks like they do have a recycling program... thoughts?
I love your video 💞, and I recommend you visit Cuetzalan, Zacatlan, Chignahuapan... These places are very very nices and beautifuls...
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!
Thanks for the video. I like Atlixco a lot.
On 10:54 that thing the mechanical tall thing it’s call TURBO!! I love that ride it feels amazing 100 % recommend
You have to go "Capilla del rosario" in Puebla, the best place!! Please don't forget that please! You are so close to this place, please take advantage of that
Why you didn't ate a cecina taco in the mercado in Atlixco? You losted the 50% of the experience! Jajaja.
LOL, we didn't give Atlixco a fair shot in this battle. We weren't there very long.
I really love Atlixco, it’s so cute, and the people❤️
Do you remember the street address of the Citadino leather shop? Thanks for your fun and informative videos!
Cholula's pyramid has de largest base, that's the claim. Nice video!
Thanks amigo!
Both are beautiful. Good job guys. 🙂👍
Cholula is Beautiful, very close to my Home Town of San Martin. Have fun guys!!!
It is gorgeous!
OMG! I want a photo with you two!!!!! (: you should do a meet&greet; you should go to Licoreria San Pedrito, if you love mezcal :)
The dolls with the ribbons are amealco dolls. If u come to queretaro ill be glad to show u around.
Are they called Amealco dolls in all parts of Mexico? Thanks for the offer! We'll post updates when we can make it to your city. :)
Due to the travel schedule our friend made for that trip, it’s all we could do
Atlixco looks prettier. I had been there in September it is AWESOME. Cholula you are cool too
In atlixco at that time is la villa iluminada it's Super beautiful at that time
it will be awesome if one day you go to a Lucha Libre show and you edit one way to say: "Gong! that bell..."
It was very common for the Catholic church to build on top of ancient "pagan" sacred sites, for both of these reasons - these pyramids and mounds are built on ley lines and/or underground water rivers that are considered power places, and also it's a sign of dominance over native traditions and religions in those areas.
I,m mexican living in Puebla and I can Say than Atlixco is the best place yo stay
Atlixco was definitely one of a kind! Wish we could have spent more time there. We definitely need to go back. What's your favorite thing about Atlixco?
We call it an illuminated villa (villa iluminada) in Atlixco
You have to visit the churchs of San Francisco Acatepec and Santa María Tonatzintla they are between Cholula and Atlixco they are wonderfull
I live near by
May I make a suggestion? First Thank you for posting your videos as they are providing us with a lot of information of where we would like to visit in Mexico. My suggestion - when you add a caption to your video please consider timing how long it takes to read the caption & leave it on for a couple of seconds longer. So many times videos get a caption flashed on the screen & you have to stop the video or replay the portion you missed while reading the caption.
Thanks for the suggestion!
You can get into tunnels inside of the pyramid. That's how they know there is a pyramid down there
We walked past the tunnels but decided to do other things instead - like window shopping and drinking margaritas. You know, the important stuff. 😂 But now I'm curious to know how extensive the tunnels are!
When I lived in Cholula (1969) I was told the tunnels go over 2 miles into the pyramid . They were still digging them out at that time .
@@TangerineTravels its free con sundays
Wait they reeopened the tunnels? Last times I went they were closed!
@@Scifoki no theyre open
Tabasco hot sauce made me laugh so hard, just discovered y'all love the channel!!
Thanks Isabel! Glad we gave you a good chuckle :) We're a couple of weirdos lol. Hope you enjoy our recent videos in the Yucatan Peninsula!
12:52 The question in the title was never answered, which did they prefer, Cholula or Atlixco?
Any chance you guys will be passing through Cuernavaca, Morelos? I've lived here 12 years (from Toronto), I'd love to show you around if you're here!
For a day trip from Mexico City, would you recommend Cholula, Puebla, Atlixco or Taxco? Thanks!
I love your videos guys, Are you going home for Chrismas?
We were informed by our awesome tour guide in Coba ( a native Myan) that they are not pyramids, they are considered temples😁
Amo Cholula! 🧡
You guys are living the dream! My dream anyway, lol. Enjoy it while you can. Any plans on exploring other Spanish speaking countries?
Hope you get to live out your dream as well Rodney! To answer your question - we think it will probably be a long time before we want to leave Mexico, but we would love to see more of the world, starting with other Spanish-speaking countries most likely.
Popo is definitely clearer in the morning
You went to Atlixco! Im soooo happy! Did u see the villa iluminada?
We saw bits and pieces of the festival, but unfortunately we couldn't stay as late as we wanted to. Is the whole thing "villa iluminada" or is there a special ceremony or something?
The villa iluminada thing is just heaps of lights all over the place. Disney electrical parade mexican style.
