Reasons FOR and AGAINST: 2025 Toyota Camry

  • The 2025 Toyota Camry, labeled as the ninth generation, is more of a mild facelift than a complete redesign. Starting under $30,000, it retains the same dimensions and many features as its predecessor. Notable changes include revised front and rear fascias and new color options. The major update is the switch to an all-hybrid lineup, eliminating the base four-cylinder gas engine and the optional V6. The sole drivetrain is a hybrid system combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with one or two electric motors, producing 225 horsepower (232 hp for AWD models). The suspension has been retuned for better responsiveness, but the overall setup remains similar. Interior dimensions are unchanged, though new color and trim options, along with updated seat designs, enhance comfort. The latest infotainment systems offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus over-the-air updates. Trim levels have been streamlined to LE, SE, XLE, and XSE, with the TRD model discontinued. Competitors include the Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata, both offering hybrid and non-hybrid variants.
    *Positives:*
    - Standard fuel-efficient hybrid drivetrain
    - All-wheel drive available on all trims
    - Spacious cabin with high-tech features
    *Considerations:*
    - No high-powered V6 option
    - Fewer trims to choose from

    Nothing is going to stop this car from selling ..nothing.
    It's a Camry known for its build quality reliability fuel economy and comfort. The V6 will be missed but screw EV!

    I bought the 2025 Camry LE in red. I love it and that is coming from a 2007 Honda Accord EX-L with a 240 hp V6. Although the Camry does not have quite the jump factor that the Honda did but it does have more than ample power and the handling is responsive. The hybrid engine set up is pretty much seamless and the car is pretty quiet. For me the Camry checks all the boxes.

    In my opinion people that buy Toyota look for dependability…and seem to forget about everything else. In my honest opinion any vehicle make/model will take care of you if you take care of it. I buy a car for what I need/want, not the manufacturer names alone.

      That's what I've been saying - all manufacturers - yes that includes TOYOTA - produce lemons from time to time, and all of them produce bulletproof models from time to time.

      the “Toyota tax” is fake. Compare the depreciation of an 8-year old Camry to an 8-year old Hyundai Sonata (if you can find one that is still in service)

    How does camry hybrid have higher maintenance costs. One of the most reliable hybrids out there.

    • @daviddryden9728
      @daviddryden9728 3 місяці тому

      Despite what is stated, a Toyota hybrid does not have higher maintenance costs. The hybrid battery comes with a 10-year/150,000 warranty. The hybrid components have an 8-year/100,000 mile warranty. With regenerative braking, the brake pads are hardly used and will last much longer. With the gas motor running much less than a standard engine, it will receive much less wear and tear and last longer. Toyota has been doing hybrid for almost 28 years. This guy knows not what he speaks.

    If you want to go fast and have such an amazing experience go buy yourself a 2025 mustang or anything more sporty than a Camry, like cmon. A basic model mustang will run you the same as that XSE, about 40 grand. The 2025 Camry is fire and feels like a damn electric car, very simplistic and sharp. Get a ‘25 Camry if you want something reasonably priced and luxurious.

    • @andrewkelley434

      He didn't. The Subaru Legacy is a 4 door sedan that competes with the Camry.

  • @tails300
    @tails300 3 місяці тому +5

    Ok where to start, this video is full full of holes so I’ll guess I’ll start here
    1: none of the competitors offer V6s in their family sedans so Toyota dropping theirs is a moot (domestic brands don’t even make a single family passenger car now that Chevy has killed off the Malibu).
    2: using the Subaru Legacy as a comparison is disingenuous since it’s been discontinued.
    3. The only potential failure point the hybrid system would need replacement on would be the traction battery, but this tends to last 15 years on average and replacements are 2k at their lowest if you shop around. Most other components on the hybrid require less maintenance then its gasoline counterpart.

      @@Spenceycat123 plenty of early Priuses on the road with 300-400k on the odometer. Bullet proof transmissions and overall fantastic quality bodes well for long term ownership even with a battery replacement 15 years down the line.
      The blind boomer fear of batteries is pretty hilarious given the huge advantage Toyota hybrids bring over their ICE only competition. The cost of a new Hybrid battery is a whole lot less than replacing a transmission and a whole lot more successful as well.
      If you’re the type to only drive 5k a year then yes, a Hybrid isn’t for you. But for people driving 15k+ a year they make a ton of sense.

    I would not buy the XSE until they drop the FORCED-Option of the defective full glass roof! They charge consumers $1300+ for the glass roof, even though most customers don't want it! Also, the glass roof has issues with the glass roof shattering for no apparent reason, then Toyota refuses to replace it under warranty. There is a defect in that glass roof, and Toyota charges extra for it as an option?! NO WAY TOYOTA!

    After what's been happening to Tundra pick up trucks, I no longer see toyota as the most reliable brand. Excellent review. I owned a 2000 Solara, then a 2002 Camry and realized I wanted a more practical vehicle, with at least a lift back... since Toyota offered none I bought a new 2008 Toyota 4Runner RWD and never looked back. After over 15.5 years it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Everything still looks and drives like new. Iowa winters are no problem.
